Divine Emperor Demon Emperor
Chapter 633 - 632: Planning a Rescue
Chapter 633: Chapter 632: Planning a Rescue
"So, you want to use me to lure the Monk and the others to Divine Celestial City?" Lin Yun said coolly after hearing what Qing Zhu said.
At his words, Qing Zhu smiled faintly. "I wouldn’t call it luring them. You are, in fact, in my hands. I’m confident they will come to rescue you."
Qing Zhu had saved him, but now she wanted to use him to lure the Monk and all the others into Divine Celestial City. If Lin Yun’s entire group were captured, the Demon Palace would lose its "Descended Ones" and would surely be no match for the Divine Palace.
After a moment of contemplation, Lin Yun looked at Qing Zhu. He was silent for a while before speaking slowly, "Even if they don’t come for me, you won’t kill me, will you?"
"That’s right. But they will definitely come for you," Qing Zhu replied without hesitation.
Qing Zhu chatted idly with Lin Yun for a little while longer before getting up to leave. Once she was gone, Lin Yun began to think about how to deal with the situation.
From the way Qing Zhu acted, she had clearly already set everything up. She was just waiting for the Monk and the others to walk right into her trap. ’If even they get captured,’ he thought, ’the Demon Palace will truly stand no chance.’
Feeling stuffy in his room, Lin Yun opened the door and stepped outside. Qing Zhu had arranged for him to stay in the courtyard of her own residence. As soon as he left his room, the first thing he saw was several Divine Palace Warriors guarding the courtyard entrance.
When the Divine Palace Warriors saw Lin Yun emerge, they didn’t stop him. Qing Zhu’s only instruction was probably to keep him from leaving the courtyard. Otherwise, Lin Yun could move about freely within it.
Lin Yun stretched a bit in the courtyard, his mind racing for a solution. ’The biggest problem is that I have no way to contact the Monk and the others.’
’Qing Zhu confiscated my Space Ring, so I can’t use the Sound Transmission Stone.’
While Lin Yun was trying to come up with a plan in Divine Celestial City, Xi Zijin and the others were gathered in a pavilion back in Demon City.
The Demon Palace had received definitive news that Lin Yun was alive and in Divine Celestial City. However, they had no idea where he was located within the city.
"We can now confirm that Young Master Lin is alive. He must have been captured by Qing Zhu," the Daoist said slowly.
After a few days, Xi Zijin had calmed down. Now that she knew Lin Yun was alive, she breathed a sigh of relief, her mind already working on a way to rescue him.
"That woman, Qing Zhu, is treacherous and full of tricks," the Monk began. "If we rush into Divine Celestial City, we’ll likely be wiped out in one go. We must have a comprehensive plan this time."
A frontal assault was out of the question. Forgetting about Wei Yunhang and his two companions, even the sheer number of Divine Palace Warriors in the city meant the Monk and his group stood no chance.
After some deliberation, the Monk’s eyes suddenly lit up. He turned to Little Ape. The best course of action would be to contact Lin Yun first, and the only one who could possibly do that was Little Ape.
At only the size of a fist, it would be a simple matter for Little Ape to infiltrate Divine Celestial City.
Following the Monk’s suggestion, the group decided to travel to the outskirts of Divine Celestial City first. From there, they would send Little Ape to sneak into the city. Once he had made contact with Lin Yun, they would finalize the rescue plan.
For now, the Monk’s plan was the best they had. No one objected, and Little Ape was also on board.
With the decision made, the group went to the central hall of Demon City and explained the situation to the Grand Commander. When he heard that the Monk and the others intended to go to Divine Celestial City to rescue Lin Yun, the Grand Commander’s initial reaction was one of concern.
"There’s something strange about this news from Divine Celestial City," he said. "I can’t shake the feeling that the Divine Palace wanted us to find out. If all of you go, you’ll likely walk right into their ambush."
Hearing the Grand Commander’s words, the Monk and the others acknowledged the risk. They knew that given Qing Zhu’s personality, she was likely using Lin Yun as bait to lure them in and wipe them all out at once.
But even knowing it was a trap, the Monk and the others had to go. They had to rescue Lin Yun.
Fortunately, they had Little Ape. They would have him infiltrate Divine Celestial City alone first. After he made contact with Lin Yun, the Monk’s group would make their final decision.
The Grand Commander had wanted to persuade them not to go, as the mission was far too risky. But seeing the determination on their faces, he held his tongue.
After urging them to be extremely careful, the Grand Commander walked the Monk and his companions all the way to the gates of Demon City. He only turned back after their figures had completely vanished from sight.
Just as he returned to the main hall, he found the Second Commander waiting for him at the entrance. "Grand Commander, why didn’t you stop them?" the Second Commander asked. "This is almost certainly a Divine Palace plot. If all the Descended Ones are captured, the Demon Palace will have no hope left."
Hearing this, the Grand Commander sighed softly. "How could I tell them not to go? It’s like if one of our own brothers was in trouble. Even knowing it was a trap, I doubt we could just stand by and do nothing. Put yourself in their shoes. I truly didn’t know how to dissuade them. Ah... we can only hope for the best."
At these words, the Second Commander said no more. The group’s decision was understandable. All they could do now was hope for Lin Yun’s successful rescue. If they failed, not only would Lin Yun and his friends be captured, but the entire Demon Palace would lose all hope.
His body still not fully healed, Lin Yun sat in a bamboo chair in the courtyard. For hours on end, he observed his surroundings. With his incredibly sharp senses, he realized that Qing Zhu’s courtyard was guarded with absolutely no blind spots.
Not only were there Divine Palace Warriors guarding the entrance, but numerous hidden sentries were also positioned around the perimeter. It would be impossible for him to sneak out of the courtyard unnoticed.
Aside from preventing him from leaving, Qing Zhu’s arrangements were quite thorough. She had even assigned a dedicated Divine Palace Maid to serve him.
Taking a sip of tea, Lin Yun contemplated how to break the stalemate. ’Qing Zhu’s arrangements are flawless,’ he thought. ’There isn’t the slightest hope of escape.’
’Monk, you all can’t afford to be reckless,’ he thought, ’or this will all end in a crushing defeat.’ Having no way out himself, Lin Yun could only place his hopes in his friends and pray they wouldn’t act rashly.
Lin Yun didn’t know that it wasn’t just his courtyard. Qing Zhu had cast a massive net over the entire Divine Celestial City. She had placed countless hidden lookouts throughout the city, and the inspections at the gates were exceptionally strict.
She had even arranged for people to monitor the area surrounding Divine Celestial City day and night. It was safe to say that the moment the Monk and his group set foot within a hundred-li radius of the city, they would not escape her notice.
After traveling for a full day and night, the Monk, the Daoist, and their companions were finally approaching Divine Celestial City. When they were still at least two hundred li away, the Monk suddenly called for a halt, perhaps acting on intuition or some other feeling.
