Chapter 131 - Cruel Responsibility
"Did these things happen all the time?" Zhang Qin Feng asked while the two were on the bed. But they're not as decent as the others thought. The question was asked while a part of Zhang Qin Feng was still inside Satella's body.
"Uh... Not often... But today... Today gets a little worst. From the look of it, the people are getting impatient." Satella answered while panting to catch up with her breath. Her reply was quick and slow at the same time.
As for Zhang Qin Feng, it seems that getting proper rest before coming here does help in revitalizing his stamina and performance. He was in the lead against Satella that got a little tired from fighting the zombies in the afternoon.
"One moment... Feng! Not there... Not there!" suddenly, Zhang Qin Feng positioned himself differently as he get fiercer in his attempt to make Satella yield. Caught unprepared, Satella begged, but it was to no avail.
Zhang Qin Feng was quite eager today. With a hand grabbing her close to him from her back, Zhang Qin Feng clenched his teeth hard while going as hard as he could. His rhythm was getting faster and faster as he brings the excitement close to the erupting point.
"I - I can't take it anymore!" Satella screamed.
Moments later, she was lying flat on the bed. She buried her face tight into the pillow while still feeling embarrassed from her moan earlier. It was enjoyable, but the satisfaction was filled with guilt as soon as she returned to her mind.
"Ah... I screamed so loud again..." Satella was about to cry when she thinks about how she looks at that time. If those people were going to speak about it tomorrow morning, won't it seem embarrassing to her?
"I'm still the Vice-Boss of this place... Can't you leave me with some dignity so I won't get into their gossip in the morning? Later, they'll say I am a cat in heat every night because of what you're doing to me." Satella complained. But her action and her speech were not aligned together.
Her words say no, but her body was honest. She reluctantly asked Zhang Qin Feng to control his sexual urges, but her body was thirsting for them instead.
"Anyway... The answer to your question was a 'yes.' These people were harassing us for a while now. It was milder at first, but I have no idea it ended up like that yesterday. Luckily, you're here and spotted that they're up to something." Satella calmed herself and answered Zhang Qin Feng's question.
"What do you think we have to do with them?" Zhang Qin Feng asked. If it was based on his opinion, he would choose to either bolster their defense or take the initiative to strike first.
But he realized that this was the mentality of his own, not how the commonsense work here.
What he believed to be correct might does not look the same here. For example, the Wind Base was providing a good deal in exchange for food through scrap metal.
But he noticed that it was hardly in demand. Although food supply is limited in this post-apocalypse, it was not to the point they're couldn't get them. Once in a while, some zombies would have one or two tasteless ration packs in their belongings.
With food not being as rare as Zhang Qin Feng initially has thought, this would threaten his goal to collect more scrap elements from the survivors. If such a trend continues, the cost of his operation might exceed his total yield.
(Although a gram of gold worth more than a box of instant noodles, this type of exchange is uncommon in the eyes of the survivors. If we're taking this into the modern world, would it look sane for you to exchange gold for rice or potatoes? That's the concept we're talking about here. Exploiting things is much later, but not in the story right now)
Although the return from a gram of scrap gold would cover more than his total cost, this was not the case here in post-apocalypse.
The manpower and time wasted for the sake of handling the trading counter would yield more results if it was assigned somewhere else. Even if Zhang Qin Feng were to bring this situation back to the modern world, it would be the same.
Gold might be priceless, but it was a mere currency at the end of the day. The world would only go around if time and manpower were utilized effectively.
"We should try to ignore them until they come at us aggressively. Although it was essential to defend ourselves properly, we have to consider if we can manage more people than what we do right now," said Satella.
"I don't understand your view, Satella... Can you elaborate about it to me, please?" Zhang Qin Feng positioned himself on the bed and rested his back on the headcover.
"Hmm... How should I start with it..." Satella was quiet for a moment while thinking about how can she explain it in the term Zhang Qin Feng would understand.
"Alright. Let me rephrase it in this way." Satella quickly found a vague explanation that can make Zhang Qin Feng understand easier.
"You know that there's a difference between my gene, Victor's, Marvin's, and Valerian's, correct?" Satella asked.
"Yes. So what's about it?" Zhang Qin Feng nodded at Satella's question. It was not something he's clueless about.
Satella belonged to the Soldier Cloning Program. As for Marvin and Victor, they're from the Engineer Cloning Program. Valerian, Miria, and Miriam are rarer as they came from the Specialist Cloning Program.
These were the basics that he was told previously through Satella.
"Let's say if you managed won against the other survival camp that has an eye on us. It was natural that we'll take the survivors that still alive after the battle, correct?" Satella continues with her question.
"Naturally. Having a bigger base is much better, is that not correct?" Zhang Qin Feng answered.
"Alright... Let's say that forty survivors, all of them were the same as me, joined our Wind Base. What will you assign them to do?" Satella asked.
"If all of them were soldiers... Expand our territories?" Zhang Qin Feng randomly guessed.
"And increases your own responsibility? Feng... With one additional survivor in your settlement, it is not a mere one more instant noodle you're giving out a day. It was more than that." Satella stares at Zhang Qin Feng as she tries to make him understand.
