Dimensional Hotel
Chapter 872 - 871: To a New Day
Chapter 872: Chapter 871: To a New Day
Yu Sheng’s consciousness floated in a chaotic darkness, not knowing how long it had drifted.
He felt he might be somewhat dead, but wasn’t entirely sure.
Because he didn’t have that distinctive feeling of his consciousness completely drifting away during his usual post-mortem readjustment, nor the sensation of his soul being infinitely elevated to another dimension. He could even feel the existence of his physical body, sensing the material world’s constraints on his mind.
Of course, his own feelings were just one basis for judgment; another was that Erin had read his fortune before he set out. The Little Puppet stated he wouldn’t face bloodshed this time.
That little thing’s judgment in this regard was quite convincing.
So... was he transported to some chaotic space again? Or was his consciousness separately sent somewhere?
Speculations arose in Yu Sheng’s mind, and as his thoughts rapidly activated, he began recalling the events that transpired before falling into the darkness—
The moonlight shone brightly, the Blood Moon projection sealed in red eyes, the storm stirring above a blood sea, the lance thrusting forth... killing the moon.
Oh, yes, killing the moon, he successfully killed the moon.
Yu Sheng lowered his head, seeing his hands in the darkness, feeling as if the sensation from when the lance pierced the expanding moonlight still lingered on them.
Yu Sheng furrowed his brows slightly. With the residual sensation on his hands and the return of memories in his mind, he felt his perception awakening further, surrounding not pure darkness, but an emergence of numerous hazy shadows.
Instinctively, Yu Sheng walked in a certain direction, sensing a faint light appearing at the long dark end.
The surroundings grew brighter, and the vague shadows revealed human outlines.
Men, women, young, old, tall, short, fat, thin.
Countless figures gradually emerged from the darkness, seemingly gathered in an endless square. Yu Sheng slowly walked among these unfamiliar silhouettes, feeling neither eerie nor tense, but rather a sense of... relaxed wonder.
The crowd surrounded him, the crowd thronged him, silently watching him. Some seemed to bow slightly, while others reached out to Yu Sheng—those hands weren’t solid yet appeared to transmit minute warmth.
Yu Sheng stopped, looking at the silhouettes clustering around him in the darkness.
"This is..."
Death is a giant maw, consuming all things with an end into its belly.
Hence, Yu Sheng always had a good appetite—entity, world bridge, Angel, even planet; if it could die, it could be eaten.
The Little Puppet always said he was wild and indiscriminate in eating outside. This was indeed quite accurate.
Many things Erin said were correct.
Yu Sheng lightly exhaled, smiling as he opened his arms, as if to embrace all silhouettes in the darkness.
"It’s all over, it’s all over..."
He killed the moon.
He devoured the moon.
In the next moment, the darkness shattered explosively, and all perceptions of the real world instantly returned to his body, making Yu Sheng feel a brief descent, then suddenly awake.
Before opening his eyes, he felt a warm sensation on his face, someone was licking back and forth on it.
Upon opening his eyes, he unsurprisingly saw two fluffy antenna-like things swaying before him.
A pair of golden-red eyes approached filled with a smile.
"Savior is awake! Savior is awake!"
Yu Sheng held down Hu Li, who was coming over to lick him again, rolled over and sat up from the ground, taking a sweeping glance around before freezing.
He discovered himself in a wilderness full of lush vegetation.
The endless, twisted forest sea generated by Tree Angels had vanished, replaced by a wide grassland filled with unknown flowers and plants, distant small hills, a stream flowing across the plain, and some trees growing at the hill’s edge.
As his view extended, Yu Sheng saw some gigantic floating objects suspended in the distant sky, resembling stones defying gravity. He also saw a massive river crossing the sky, with a grand waterfall at its edge pouring towards the hills.
An incredible... otherworldly sight, entirely different from any planet or Exotic Realm Yu Sheng had ever encountered.
Yu Sheng stared at the distant scene, mouth agape, then felt Hu Li tugging at his arm.
"Savior, look over there."
She raised her hand, pointing in another direction.
Yu Sheng immediately turned to look, seeing a monumental giant tree at the center of the plain—even possibly comparable to the size of the Crystal Tree from ↑↓←→: its trunk towering into the clouds, its canopy obscuring the sky, with a tributary of the Suspending River flowing past the giant tree, forming a small lake beneath its water curtain.
And on the plain surrounding the giant tree, some objects, seemingly ancient ruins, could be seen—gothic-style chapel spires, collapsed factory buildings, gears and steam pipes standing like jagged bones on the ground, even a ship’s keel half embedded in the earth, half pointing towards the sky.
"...What’s going on here?" Yu Sheng asked, dumbfounded, "Is this still the Old World? Is it where we were just now?"
"No idea, we were still on the blood sea surface of that Blood Moon a second ago, then heard a loud boom, and next thing we know, we find ourselves here," Erin grumbled as she casually climbed onto Yu Sheng’s shoulder, "But I can confirm this is indeed the Old World, I’ve already made contact with the Ironclad Expression on this side using mass-produced Puppets."
"It seems this should be the original form here, at least how it should appear without the Tree Angel losing control," the fox girl said, lazily swaying her tail, "Didn’t that ’Mist Forest Sea’ overwrite the entire Plande region before? Now the forest sea has vanished... Erin said that giant tree in the distance should be the original form of the Tree Angel."
Zheng Zhi looked at the people around him, then at the surrounding scenery, hesitated for a while, finally nervously asked the Star Sea Witch beside him: "...Was the original Plande like this?"
"Of course not," Lucrecia shook her head, "The Old World’s Plande was a much narrower and more crowded place, and far smaller than what you see here."
She paused here, her tone became more thoughtful: "...This world has clearly undergone significant changes, it’s hard to say how much of these changes are due to the ’arrangement’ my father left behind years ago, or how much was influenced by the collision of the Dark Angel... But in any case, the current state here is at least much better than the ’forest sea’ that had blocked the entire foyer area."
Yu Sheng listened to the conversation around him but did not continue to participate, instead gazing afar at the incredible and magnificent scenery, watching ancient ruins of what seemed to be Old World city-states dot the vibrant fields.
Thoughts surged in his mind, finally turning into a sigh: "...Time and vitality."
The fox girl also leaned over, holding Yu Sheng’s hand, her face showing a gentle smile: "And old worlds and new growth~"
Erin, sitting happily on Yu Sheng’s shoulder, swayed back and forth: "And locals and outsiders!"
Yu Sheng & Hu Li: "..."
Then, the Little Puppet thought for a moment, pointed at herself, then at the giant tree in the distance.
"I’m the local now, the old tree is the outsider!"
"Stop, stop, stop, spare me the sentiments, you’ve obliterated my language sense," Yu Sheng pressed down Erin’s arm, suddenly remembering, "Wait, where’s Red?"
Erin paused upon hearing: "...Huh?"
The others only then realized someone was missing and quickly started searching, Erin examining everywhere while pulling Yu Sheng’s hair: "Wait, wasn’t that mysterious closed-eye girl with you?"
"She was with me just a moment ago," Yu Sheng said hastily, "Logically, she should be nearby..."
As they spoke, Hu Li was already on the ground sniffing around, quickly discovering something, she ran to a patch of grass and started digging furiously.
Within seconds, dirt flew, and Yu Sheng heard the excited cry of the demon fox girl: "Savior, found it, found a bit!"
"Found what..." Yu Sheng said while walking over, before he finished speaking, saw two dusty small bats lying in a dirt pit.
The two small bats were hugging each other, staring at him with four small, indistinct eyes.
Then Luna’s voice came from nearby, as she flipped a large rock over a few meters away: "Here, there are some too!"
Seeing this scene, Lucrecia raised an eyebrow, pulled out her Crystal Ball and rubbed it thoughtfully: "...Seems there are a few in this direction."
Seeing this situation, Zheng Zhi raised his hand and summoned Big Yellow...
As it turns out Red was indeed nearby, just evenly spread across a radius of hundred meters—Yu Sheng and the others spent quite a while digging and searching before they finally gathered Red into a pile neatly on the open ground.
A large pile of small bats were a bit bewildered at first, but after gathering up, quickly appeared much more alert, each staring straight at Yu Sheng.
Yu Sheng felt a bit creeped out by being watched by so many small bats, smiled awkwardly as he walked over and squatted on the ground: "Uh..."
"It hurts like hell." A complaining voice came from the bat pile.
"Might be a bit rusty," Yu Sheng scratched his head embarrassedly, "How are you feeling now?"
"Can’t you tell? I’ve lost synchronization again, even moving is difficult, can’t pull myself together for now," Red sighed, but after a brief silence, her tone seemed to carry a bit of laughter, "However... my mind feels much more relaxed, it’s the first time in years my consciousness feels this quiet."
Yu Sheng laughed: "That’s good."
He now felt like an excellent psychiatrist, a sense of accomplishment swelling up inside him.
"Alright, everyone’s accounted for," Erin clapped her hands, "What next?"
Yu Sheng looked up, cast a glance at the towering giant tree in the distance, but after a brief consideration, retracted his gaze.
"Red’s current state isn’t good, and we need to ascertain the area’s situation... let’s head back and meet up with Baili Qing, see what her plans are."
"Alrighty."
Lucrecia summoned her Flying Carpet again, Zheng Zhi retrieved Big Yellow he had summoned earlier.
Yu Sheng, after a brief contemplation, looked at the pile of small bats on the ground.
Red suddenly felt a bit nervous: "...What, what are you up to?"
Yu Sheng: "What color sack do you like?"
