Chapter 95: Chapter 95: You Can’t Even Protect Yourself

A brilliant light flashed through Luo Yi’s beautiful eyes. She shot a surprised glance at Yi Xiaoyao beside her. ’This guy... he actually gave me such a precious gift.’

It instantly reminded Luo Yi of what Yi Xiaoyao had told her before: that the Perfect Elixir was always meant for her.

Yi Xiaoyao, however, glanced at Yun Qian with a hint of disappointment. ’Looks like not everyone can be trusted,’ he thought.

"You claimed you refined this Perfect Gold Condensing Pill. In that case, refine a Perfect Elixir right now and prove you weren’t lying." After a moment of silence, the Pill Hall elder, apparently unable to swallow his pride, spoke to Yi Xiaoyao.

Yi Xiaoyao gave the man a cold look and sneered.

"The witness has already come forward, yet you still refuse to admit defeat. It seems the shameless person you mentioned... was yourself."

Yi Xiaoyao chuckled. "Besides, why should I perform alchemy for you? Are you trying to steal my techniques?"

The Pill Hall elder’s throat tightened. He was speechless at Yi Xiaoyao’s words, unable to refute them.

The people who had been mocking Yi Xiaoyao now felt as if they’d been slapped hard across the face. One by one, they fell silent.

"Now, can I take back what’s mine?"

Yi Xiaoyao smiled faintly and walked toward the jade box containing the Elixir.

Just moments ago, he had been stopped and berated for even approaching the Elixir.

But now, no one had the slightest objection to Yi Xiaoyao taking the Perfect Elixir. After all, it was his.

"Young friend, did you really refine this Perfect Gold Condensing Pill?" an Alchemist asked, stepping forward with a smile.

Yi Xiaoyao glanced at him and retorted, "Is there anyone else here who can refine one? Or are you saying you don’t believe me?"

To be blunt, there wasn’t a single other Alchemist in all of Earth Star City capable of refining a Perfect Elixir. If it wasn’t Yi Xiaoyao, who else could it be?

"Of course, of course we believe you! We were just hoping to discuss and learn a little about the Alchemy Dao from you."

"Exactly. We’re Alchemists from the Earth Star Pill Pavilion. If you have time, Master Yi, we would welcome you to the Pavilion to exchange some pointers with us."

Immediately, all those Alchemists swarmed around Yi Xiaoyao, trying to get on his good side.

Anyone who could refine a Perfect Elixir was more than worthy of being called a master.

"Ah, so you’re all from the Earth Star Pill Pavilion," Yi Xiaoyao said, a look of realization on his face. "I wonder, do any of you remember an Alchemist by the name of Dan Jiu?"

"Dan Jiu?" an Alchemist said with a frown. "I do know of someone by that name, but the man’s a fraud who spouts nothing but nonsense. He’s not even a real Alchemist. Surely that’s not the same person you’re referring to, Master Yi."

Several other Alchemists chimed in. "Let’s not even talk about that guy. We’re far more curious, Master Yi—who is your master? To be able to refine a Perfect Elixir, they must be incredible."

Hearing this, Yi Xiaoyao let out a cold laugh. "My master is the very same ’worthless, nonsensical fraud’ you were just speaking of: Dan Jiu."

The expressions on the faces of the Alchemists from the Earth Star Pill Pavilion froze once again. They seemed to recall something: the Five-Stripe Gold Condensing Pill Yi Xiaoyao had refined used a different Pill Formula from the standard one. In fact, it perfectly matched the Pill Formula that Dan Jiu had once given them.

’So, it wasn’t that Dan Jiu’s Pill Formula was impossible to use. It was that none of us had the ability to use it.’

Yi Xiaoyao looked at their expressions and smiled lightly.

Dan Jiu was Yi Xiaoyao’s Alchemy Master. As his disciple, he naturally had to take this opportunity to clear his master’s name.

Those Alchemists, realizing they had unwittingly offended Yi Xiaoyao’s master, felt awkward for a moment before quickly changing the subject and looking toward the Pill Hall elder.

"Who was it just now that said Master Yi didn’t know alchemy? Misleading everyone like that!"

"That’s right! Didn’t you say Master Yi could never become an Alchemist?"

"And didn’t your Pill Hall once refuse to teach Master Yi the Alchemy Skill? How incredibly foolish!"

As he became the target of everyone’s accusations, the Pill Hall elder’s face twitched, his expression filled with regret.

’I actually rejected an alchemy prodigy capable of refining a Perfect Elixir! Just like they said, I’m a complete fool, blind for not seeing it!’

’If I hadn’t rejected him, the young man all these Alchemists are calling ’Master’ would be my disciple right now!’

Even the other Pill Hall elders were furious. The Pill Hall had lost a talent of this caliber—what a pity, what a damnable shame.

But regret was useless now. He could only smile bitterly as he faced the storm of condemnation.

Suddenly, as if remembering something, Yi Xiaoyao walked up to the Pill Hall elder who had once rejected him.

"I seem to recall you saying that if I ever became an Alchemist, you would gouge out your own eyes for me to refine."

Looking at the elder’s increasingly mortified expression, Yi Xiaoyao asked, "You haven’t forgotten that, have you?"

Hearing this, everyone’s eyes lit up, as if they had found a way to curry favor with Yi Xiaoyao.

Immediately, the crowd pointed at the elder and roared, "Gouge them out! Do it now! You’re blind as a bat anyway, what use are your eyes to you!"

The elder’s face turned a shade of bruised purple. He whispered to Yi Xiaoyao in a trembling voice, "Don’t push it. It’s better to forgive and forget."

His voice was thick with a pleading tone.

Yi Xiaoyao glanced at him indifferently. He still vividly remembered the scene when this man had driven him out of the Pill Hall with such definitive and dismissive words.

’Still, what use would I have for the eyes of a dog who looks down on others?’

Just as Yi Xiaoyao was about to let it go, Cultivator Duan, who had witnessed the entire process from the side, stood up with a loud shout.

"You bastard! As a disciple of the Seven Kills Star Hall, how dare you conspire with outsiders from the Earth Star Pill Pavilion to force an elder of our Hall to gouge out his eyes! Worse, you’ve been disrespectful to an elder. It’s clear to me you don’t even consider yourself one of us!"

Cultivator Duan had also been just as shocked as everyone else. At the same time, he understood that Yi Xiaoyao’s ability to refine a Perfect Elixir meant he would be even more valued and protected by the Seven Kills Star Hall.

This outcome made Cultivator Duan feel that killing Yi Xiaoyao would become increasingly difficult.

Therefore, he seized this opportunity to pin a crime on Yi Xiaoyao.

Because Alchemists were rare, a Pill Hall elder’s status was even higher than that of a regular elder, so this crime was a very serious one.

The surrounding disciples’ interest was greatly piqued. They were well aware of the conflict between Yi Xiaoyao and Cultivator Duan, so they were all eagerly anticipating what would happen next.

But facing Cultivator Duan’s accusation, Yi Xiaoyao showed not a hint of worry. Instead, he simply looked at the man and began to laugh, a mocking glint in his eyes.

"You little beast, you still dare to laugh at me!"

Yi Xiaoyao’s laughter made Cultivator Duan extremely uncomfortable. With an ugly expression, he shouted again.

Yi Xiaoyao’s smile grew wider. He spoke to Cultivator Duan in a low, ominous tone, "Cultivator Duan, do you remember what I told you before? That soon, you won’t even be able to protect yourself?"
