Devouring Sword God
Chapter 94: A Small Gift
Chapter 94: Chapter 94: A Small Gift
The crowd immediately turned to look at Yi Xiaoyao. Hearing the Pill Hall elder speak, they thought they understood what was going on, and their eyes filled with derision.
After all, everyone wanted to be an Alchemist, but the requirements were incredibly strict—only a select few could ever meet them.
Most of the people present had once dreamed of becoming an Alchemist, but had rationally abandoned the idea when they failed to meet the requirements.
But someone as obstinate as Yi Xiaoyao was, frankly, quite amusing to them.
Yi Xiaoyao could naturally sense their misunderstanding, but he couldn’t be bothered to explain.
"Whether or not I can become an Alchemist is irrelevant. I came here today to take back what’s mine," Yi Xiaoyao said coolly to the Pill Hall elder.
"Take back what’s yours?" The Pill Hall elder frowned and sneered. "How could there possibly be anything of yours here?"
A slight smirk touched Yi Xiaoyao’s lips. He pointed to the Perfect Golden Core Pill, which was being displayed like a holy relic, and said calmly, "That is mine."
After Yi Xiaoyao spoke, the crowd was stunned for a moment before bursting into laughter.
"Is this kid here to tell jokes? If that Perfect Elixir were his, wouldn’t the Pill Hall be treating him like an honored guest? Why would they be stopping him from getting close?"
"Exactly! Is he the idiot, or are the Pill Hall elders? Or maybe he just thinks we’re all idiots and would actually believe him?"
The Pill Hall elder, also stunned for a moment, laughed mockingly. "You say this Perfect Elixir is yours? Don’t tell me you refined it yourself?"
"I did," Yi Xiaoyao replied, his expression still perfectly calm.
Hearing this, the crowd’s expressions grew even more strange and amused.
According to what the Pill Hall elder had said earlier, this Yi Xiaoyao clearly wasn’t even an Alchemist, yet he was claiming he refined this Perfect Elixir. This wasn’t just a matter of being laughable—the lie was completely divorced from reality.
"I’ve never seen someone tell such an absurd lie. It seems this kid really thinks everyone is as foolish as he is."
"Still, I’m curious to see how he’s going to dig himself out of this hole."
The elder sized up Yi Xiaoyao, his expression baffled, especially since Yi Xiaoyao seemed so unnervingly calm.
’I borrowed this Perfect Golden Core Pill from a female disciple. When did it become this kid’s? And even more ridiculously, he claims he’s the one who refined it.’
"To think that among the disciples of my Seven Kills Star Hall, there could be someone as utterly shameless as you!"
A storm of emotions churned within the elder, and he finally managed to spit out that sentence.
But his words perfectly mirrored what everyone in the crowd was thinking. In their eyes, Yi Xiaoyao was indeed being shameless and bringing humiliation upon himself.
Even Luo Yi, trailing behind Yi Xiaoyao, felt distressed. ’What on earth is wrong with my Junior Brother today?’ she wondered.
"Junior Brother, let’s just go. I don’t want this Elixir anymore."
Luo Yi said, gently tugging on the corner of Yi Xiaoyao’s sleeve. She assumed her Junior Brother was only doing this because she had once mentioned wanting this Gold Condensing Pill.
Yi Xiaoyao turned to look at Luo Yi and said earnestly, "Senior Sister, this Gold Condensing Pill really is mine. It’s the little gift I’m giving you."
Luo Yi froze. Looking at Yi Xiaoyao’s earnest expression, it didn’t seem like he was joking.
Besides, based on her understanding of him, her Junior Brother wasn’t the type to joke about such things.
’Could it be that what Yi Xiaoyao said... was actually true?’
It was just that the idea of this Perfect Elixir, which had caused such a massive stir, being a gift from Yi Xiaoyao to her was something Luo Yi herself found difficult to believe.
But even if Luo Yi could believe Yi Xiaoyao, to everyone else, his words sounded like the biggest joke they had ever heard.
A Perfect Elixir that was the stuff of legends, one capable of shaking the entire Alchemy Realm, was just a "small gift"?
"What arrogant nonsense. He’s not even afraid of biting his own tongue. I think he knows he can’t talk his way out of this lie, so he’s just started spouting whatever absurdities come to mind."
The crowd was already losing interest, shaking their heads and waving their hands dismissively with looks of exasperation.
Just then, another voice rang out.
"Yi Xiaoyao, even if you’re going to invent a story, you could at least make it a plausible one, couldn’t you?"
Yi Xiaoyao knew who it was the moment he heard the voice. He looked up, and sure enough, it was Cultivator Duan.
It turned out that after Cultivator Duan had dispatched the Yang Clan’s father and sons to assassinate Yi Xiaoyao, he had assumed he would never see the boy again. But today, he had unexpectedly heard news that Yi Xiaoyao had returned to the Seven Kills Star Hall.
This news left Cultivator Duan shocked and suspicious. He was well aware that the Yang Brothers’ Cultivation far surpassed Yi Xiaoyao’s. Adding Yang Yunhua’s Golden Core Realm Cultivation to the mix, Yi Xiaoyao’s death should have been a certainty.
In Cultivator Duan’s opinion, the Yang Clan’s father and sons must have failed to find Yi Xiaoyao, which was the only reason he could have returned alive.
Nevertheless, Cultivator Duan had decided to come and confirm the news with his own eyes, which was how he had found his way here and stumbled upon the current scene.
Given Cultivator Duan’s hatred for Yi Xiaoyao, even after learning he was truly alive, he still had to seize this golden opportunity to thoroughly humiliate him.
Hearing Cultivator Duan’s deliberate taunt, Yi Xiaoyao shot him a cold look and said, "You can barely save your own hide. Do you really have time to meddle in my affairs?"
Then, ignoring the frowning and perplexed Cultivator Duan, Yi Xiaoyao turned back to the Pill Hall elder and said coldly, "As for who is truly shameless, you need only tell us where you got this Elixir, and I will be able to prove everything."
"Why would my Pill Hall need proof from a mere disciple like you? Get lost!" the Pill Hall elder roared, starting to drive Yi Xiaoyao away.
Suddenly, a timid voice rose from the crowd.
"This Elixir... it really does belong to Young Master Yi." 𝒻𝘳ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝒷𝘯ℴ𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝑐ℴ𝑚
The crowd parted to form a path, and Yun Qian walked forward with her head down, her face bright red.
The Pill Hall elder froze. Of course he recognized Yun Qian—he was the one who had borrowed the Elixir from her!
"Yun Qian, do you know what you’re saying!" the Pill Hall elder snapped. "While it’s true that the Pill Hall borrowed this Elixir from you, you absolutely cannot go along with a certain person’s Intent and spout nonsense here!"
Yun Qian bit her lip, not daring to look at Yi Xiaoyao. Her face pale, she answered before the crowd, "I’m not talking nonsense. This was truly a gift that Young Master Yi entrusted me to deliver to Senior Sister Luo Yi. I... I got confused for a moment and lent it to you."
In an instant, the boisterous scene fell completely silent. Everyone’s expression froze, their eyes wide with shock.
’So... everything Yi Xiaoyao said was true?’
’That Perfect Elixir really was, as he’d claimed, a "small gift" for Luo Yi?’
If that was the case, the situation was just too dramatically ironic. How could the Pill Hall possibly save face now?
Especially when, just moments before, the Pill Hall elder had been so certain and the crowd’s opinion had been so one-sided.
