Devouring Sword God
Chapter 334: One Sword Slays the Lord of the Mansion
RUMBLE!
Everyone in the Great Xia Imperial Capital saw the towering sword aura, followed by a violent tremor that shook the very earth.
A sword mark thousands of miles long scarred the earth, a chasm so deep it seemed bottomless.
Yi Xiaoyao’s earth-shattering slash instantly alerted the people of the Imperial Army Mansion below. One after another, figures radiating immense power shot upward. A vast army of experts then rose from the surrounding area to confront the Carefree Alliance forces arrayed behind Yi Xiaoyao.
“Yi Xiaoyao! How dare you act so wantonly before my Imperial Army Mansion! I swear I’ll make sure you die without a grave!”
Across the void, at the head of the opposing army, the Second Lord glared at Yi Xiaoyao, his eyes practically bursting with rage as he let out a roar filled with boundless hatred.
Yi Xiaoyao swept his gaze over the man with indifference and sneered in contempt. “A defeated opponent who abandoned his own soldiers to flee for his life. What right do you have to be so brazen before me?”
The Second Lord’s anger erupted at his words. Though Yi Xiaoyao had once been his defeated foe, he couldn’t return the insult now.
After all, Yi Xiaoyao had been prepared to sacrifice himself to save his subordinates, while the Second Lord had abandoned all of his men just to save his own skin.
The difference between them was self-evident.
Seeing the Second Lord at a loss for words, the Great Mansion Lord let out a heavy snort.
His gaze then passed straight over Yi Xiaoyao, ignoring him completely, to land on Chi Fen and Lady Ji.
“Chi Fen, Lady Ji. You two are the strongest figures in the Chaotic Alliance Domain. I shall be the one to face you!” the Great Mansion Lord declared.
Chi Fen and Lady Ji exchanged a look. They had already decided on their respective opponents long before this.
The two then replied, “Great Mansion Lord, we admit that you are powerful. We would struggle against you even if we joined forces. But your opponent is our Commander.”
Upon hearing this, the Great Mansion Lord sneered and shot a contemptuous glance at Yi Xiaoyao.
“This brat thinks he can be my opponent? He’s not worthy!”
At his words, all the experts of the Imperial Army Mansion burst out laughing.
After all, the Great Mansion Lord was the number one expert in all of Great Xia, while Chi Fen was the strongest in the Chaotic Alliance Domain. Only he was worthy of forcing the Great Mansion Lord to personally take action.
Yi Xiaoyao might be strong, but according to reliable intelligence, they had learned that he had sparred with Chi Fen for half a month and had been defeated in every single match.
If he couldn’t even beat Chi Fen, what right did he have to challenge the Great Mansion Lord?
Hearing the words “not worthy,” both Chi Fen and Lady Ji revealed strange expressions.
Just as they were about to refuse, Yi Xiaoyao laughed. “In that case, you two shouldn’t disappoint the Great Mansion Lord’s kind intentions.”
Chi Fen and Lady Ji were stunned for a moment, then their peculiar expressions deepened as they chuckled. “We will follow the Commander’s orders.”
All the experts from the Imperial Army Mansion knew the Great Mansion Lord was doing this to give the Second and Third Lords an opportunity to join forces and kill Yi Xiaoyao.
However, how could the members of the Carefree Alliance not know that Yi Xiaoyao had agreed to the Great Mansion Lord’s demand for the very same reason—to slay the Second and Third Lords?
Both sides had their own hidden agendas. As for whose would come to fruition, that would depend entirely on their respective strengths.
Seeing their chance, the Second and Third Lords stepped forward and declared, “Yi Xiaoyao, we don’t need the Great Mansion Lord to deal with you. The two of us together are more than enough to kill you!”
“This is the first time I’ve ever seen someone so proud of ganging up on an opponent.”
Yi Xiaoyao sneered. “Or is ganging up on someone supposed to be a great honor?”
“You!” The Second and Third Lord grew furious. “We’ll see how much longer you can run your mouth!” they roared.
The moment the words left their mouths, the two top experts from the Imperial Army Mansion launched a coordinated attack on Yi Xiaoyao.
As for everyone else, they remained still, maintaining their standoff from thousands of feet apart.
When armies clash and both sides are supremely confident, the commanders often duel before the formations engage. Whichever side gains the upper hand provides a massive morale boost to their troops.
Therefore, both sides simply hovered in the air and watched.
As the two charged at him, a corner of Yi Xiaoyao’s mouth curled up. With a sharp SHING, he drew the Bloodthirsty Sword.
The Second and Third Lords crossed the vast distance in an instant. As the Third Lord furiously thrust his weapon, a colossal, peerless golden spear materialized from thin air, whistling as it tore through the sky.
In addition to radiating a Fierce Metal Qi that seemed capable of shattering anything, the razor-sharp spear tip also carried faint soul fluctuations—this was clearly a Soul Attack, a skill wielded by those at the Half-Step Void Realm.
And although the Second Lord had lost his arms, he could still control lightning with perfect ease. With a furious roar, two massive Thunder Dragons burst from the clouds above, coiling around the golden spear and unleashing rumbling thunderclaps.
Everyone watching this combined attack couldn’t help but tremble uncontrollably.
After all, an attack from either the Second or Third Lord alone was something few in the entire Great Xia Empire could withstand, let alone a combined strike from two such peerless experts!
There in the void, the Thunder Dragon-wreathed golden spear shot toward Yi Xiaoyao, radiating a soul-shaking power that seemed capable of annihilating anything and everything.
However, upon seeing this attack, Yi Xiaoyao remained perfectly still. The smile tugging at his lips twisted into a cold sneer.
“As expected of two Lords of the Mansion. Half a month ago, I’d have had a real headache dealing with a move like this.”
As Yi Xiaoyao’s aura surged to its absolute peak, a brilliant light flashed in his eyes.
“But now… if this is the best the two of you can muster together, then you won’t be able to protect Great Xia today.”
The moment his voice fell, a terrifying Killing Intent erupted from him.
That crimson Killing Intent surged as he swung his Bloodthirsty Sword, unleashing a demonic, blood-red sword aura so terrifying it sent a chill deep into one’s soul. But in the next instant, it vanished in a flash.
At first glance, it seemed as if the sword strike had caused no disturbance whatsoever.
This was a phenomenon caused by the sword aura moving at an extreme speed. Even though the two Lords had attacked first, the sword aura seemed to pass through the void itself, instantly materializing before the Thunder Dragon Golden Spear had even gotten far!
CLANG!
In the blink of an eye, the demonic sword aura met the tip of the colossal golden spear, point against point in a perfect clash.
The two giant Thunder Dragons coiled around the golden spear erupted against the sword aura, unleashing a shockwave that threatened to sweep everything away as it spread outward.
But before the shockwave could spread very far, the tip of the golden spear let out a piercing shriek and was sliced clean in two by the sword aura.
Simultaneously, a massive Sword Mark appeared upon the bodies of the two Thunder Dragons.
In the next blink of an eye, expressions of utter horror appeared on the faces of the Second and Third Lords. They both suddenly coughed up a mouthful of blood as the impossibly fast, demonic sword aura flashed past, cleaving through their bodies in an instant.
As two of the most powerful experts in the Great Xia Empire, they hadn’t even had time to mount a defense before the sword aura struck. Their bodies were sliced in two and sent flying through the air!
Yi Xiaoyao had slain two Lords of the Mansion with a single slash!
