Devouring Sword God
Chapter 197: Monster in the Flame
Chapter 197: Chapter 197: Monster in the Flame
Outside Yinfeng Valley, ten young men and women stood watching. Their gazes were fixed on the black-fog-shrouded valley, and a slight smile played on each of their lips.
"Everything is going according to plan."
"Once the people from the Great Shang Dynasty and the Great Chu Dynasty have worn each other down fighting the Yin Souls of Yinfeng Valley, we can make our move. We’ll easily reap the spoils."
As they spoke, the ten men and women exchanged a knowing laugh. They were, in fact, the members of the other two dynasties who had also entered the Ancient Tomb.
Just then, their gazes sharpened. They saw an astonishing burst of fire light up the mist-shrouded Yinfeng Valley, followed by a series of deafening roars.
...
Chu Fei’Er was completely dumbstruck, watching with utter disbelief as the Flame Giant before her sent several Golden Core Realm Peak Yin Corpses flying with a single punch. It then spun around and, with another fist, flattened more than a dozen Yin Corpses lunging from behind.
Under the Flame Giant’s fists, these Yin Corpses were like helpless children. They were casually annihilated, unable to withstand a single blow!
But Chu Fei’Er knew that every single one of these Yin Corpses was a genuine Golden Core Realm Peak entity. Moreover, they were immune to pain and far more savage than any human.
The reason they seemed so fragile was because that Flame Giant... was simply too strong!
This alone was enough to leave Chu Fei’Er reeling in shock, but there was something even more unbelievable, something she couldn’t have imagined even in her wildest dreams: this Flame Giant was actually Yi Xiaoyao, the very person she had disdained this entire journey!
’He... He’s actually...’ Chu Fei’Er couldn’t find the words to express her feelings. She was utterly stupefied.
BOOM!
A fiery dragon blasted away a Yin Corpse lunging toward Chu Fei’Er, snapping her back to her senses and breaking her out in a cold sweat.
"What are you doing, just standing there dazed?"
Yi Xiaoyao’s displeased voice rang out. "I may have promised the King of Shang I’d look after you," he said coldly, "but if you’re going to be this much of a burden, I’ll just assume you have a death wish and won’t lift a finger to save you again."
Chu Fei’Er shuddered, a hurt expression in her eyes. But she had no grounds to argue with Yi Xiaoyao calling her a burden. In fact, she even felt a pang of guilt.
After all, she was the one who had always thought *he* was the one holding them back!
But now?
Yi Xiaoyao wasn’t a burden in the slightest. He was a pillar of strength, one she needed to cling to tightly!
Watching Yi Xiaoyao, wreathed in flames and so incredibly powerful, slay dozens of formidable Yin Corpses in mere moments, Chu Fei’Er felt a stir of admiration in her heart. All her previous negative feelings toward him had vanished.
"I’m sorry! I’ll be careful from now on!"
Chu Fei’Er replied. ’If Yi Xiaoyao hadn’t saved her just now, she would already be dead.’
Yi Xiaoyao gave a faint smile. The Flame Giant he had become then leaped directly into the swarm of Yin Corpses. Where the fiery figure landed, a swath of Yin Corpses was blasted away!
In his eyes, Golden Core Realm cultivators were no more than ants. He could annihilate them at will without even needing to draw his sword.
’That monster... he’s gotten stronger again!’
Wei Buzhan, who was currently engaged with a Yin Corpse, felt his heart clench as he witnessed the scene. He could only let out a sigh, a bitter smile on his face.
Just a few days ago, Yi Xiaoyao hadn’t possessed this kind of terrifying strength.
Wei Buzhan had once seen Yi Xiaoyao as a rival to surpass, but he now realized he would never be able to catch up to him in this lifetime.
Of course, Su Xiang, who fought shoulder-to-shoulder with Wei Buzhan, felt the exact same way.
Meanwhile, Shang Shiqie’s lovely eyes glinted as she glanced in Yi Xiaoyao’s direction.
Before entering the Ancient Tomb, Shang Shiqie had learned from the King of Shang that Yi Xiaoyao had refused their betrothal. At the time, she hadn’t given it much thought.
But now, a strange feeling flickered through Shang Shiqie’s heart, as if she had let something incredibly important slip through her fingers.
’It seems Father was far more farsighted than I...’
Shang Shiqie sighed softly. Before they entered the Ancient Tomb, the King of Shang had told her to use their journey as an opportunity to "seduce" Yi Xiaoyao, but she had refused out of anger and embarrassment.
As for the geniuses from the Great Chu Dynasty, they were far more stunned than Wei Buzhan and the others. After all, they had known nothing about Yi Xiaoyao before this, which was why they had mocked and belittled him for the entire journey.
"This guy!"
"My gods, is he even human?"
"He’s a monster of flame!"
"In such a short time, Yi Xiaoyao has already annihilated most of the Yin Corpses, and he hasn’t even summoned that powerful Demon Beast of his!"
It was true. In just a few short moments, more than seventy of the hundred-plus Yin Corpses had been destroyed. Of those, nearly sixty had been obliterated by Yi Xiaoyao in his Flame Giant form!
How terrifying!
The remaining Yin Corpses had been driven to utter despair by the Flame Giant. They scattered and fled, their ranks completely broken.
However, while their side was enjoying a one-sided, effortless victory, the situation for Sword Wind Breaker and Bo Hong was the complete opposite.
Bo Hong had noticed the commotion on Yi Xiaoyao’s side, but he had no time to be shocked. He could only grit his teeth and focus on desperately parrying with his spear, completely unable to launch an attack of his own.
’This damned thing... it’s actually at the Third Realm of the Nascent Soul Realm!’
Despair washed over Bo Hong. With his level of strength, even killing a First Realm Nascent Soul expert was difficult. At best, he could exchange a few blows with a Second Realm expert, but defeat was almost certain.
As for this Third-Realm Nascent Soul Yin Corpse before him, victory was simply impossible!
It was the same for Sword Wind Breaker. The Yin Corpse Valley Master he faced had the Cultivation of a Second-Realm Nascent Soul.
Furthermore, Sword Wind Breaker was weaker than Bo Hong, so he was in no better a position. If this continued, his defeat was only a matter of time.
"Haha! You two brats, daring to seek us out is just courting death!"
"I’m going to refine your bodies into the most perfect Yin Corpses for us to command!"
The two Yin Corpse Valley Masters cackled cruelly as they unleashed a mad, crushing assault on Sword Wind Breaker and Bo Hong.
Sword Wind Breaker snorted. "You two ghouls, take a look around! Our allies are about to wipe out all of your minions. Let’s see how you plan to escape then!"
At that, the expressions of the two Yin Corpse Valley Masters changed. They looked and saw their Yin Corpse minions being blasted to pieces, scattering in every direction amidst the conflagration.
In the next moment, they flew into a rage. "How dare you destroy the foundation of our Yinfeng Valley!"
"Die!!!"
No longer in the mood to drag things out, the two Yin Corpse Valley Masters unleashed their full power. In just a few moments, they blasted Bo Hong and Sword Wind Breaker, sending them flying backward, heavily injured and spitting blood.
Then, as swift as the wind, the two Valley Masters lunged toward the airborne Sword Wind Breaker and Bo Hong, intending to finish them off before they even hit the ground.
But just then, a brilliant pillar of fire shot into the sky, accompanied by a sharp Sword Aura that slashed directly toward the two powerful Nascent Soul Realm Yin Corpses.
"From now on, I am your opponent."
Amidst the flash of the blade, Yi Xiaoyao’s cold voice rang out.
