Beiming Han sensed something was wrong. He hurriedly reached for her little hand and found her palm was burning hot too.

He had no experience taking care of children, but when it came to Baobei, he didn’t dare ignore even the slightest abnormal sign.

He quickly picked Baobei up and laid her on the sofa, then pulled out his phone and called Bai Jingqing.

The call was answered very quickly. Bai Jingqing said she was probably running a fever and told him to find a thermometer and take Baobei’s temperature.

Beiming Han did exactly that, asking his secretary to bring a thermometer and tucking it under Baobei’s armpit.

The wait was long and agonizing. In just five short minutes, Beiming Han’s back was already damp with sweat.

When the time was up, he took out the thermometer. The moment he saw it showing thirty-eight degrees, he immediately panicked.

The scene from the last time Baobei had fallen ill was still vivid in his mind. Beiming Han scooped her up and rushed outside!

...

After the Bai Family trio returned from the mall, Bai Qianqian went straight to take a shower once they got home. She had no idea what kind of water Bai Mother had splashed on her, but it reeked sour and rancid. If it weren’t for Bai Mother’s age, Bai Qianqian really wouldn’t have let that woman off.

Bai Xiaobai sat there, very angry, looking sullen and unhappy.

Bai Jingqing was silent too. He was furious as well, but beneath the anger was mostly helplessness.

Because no matter what, the other party was still his mother. Even if she went too far, no matter how angry he was, he couldn’t do anything to her.

He had already tried hard to keep his distance from his mother and brother, yet why still wouldn’t his mother let them go!

Bai Qianqian came out of the bathroom while towel-drying her long hair. Seeing father and son sitting on the sofa, each more silent than the other, she walked over and sat down. "Alright, don’t be mad anymore. I’m not even mad, so you two don’t need to be either!"

"Who is that old woman? Why does she treat you like that? I hate her, I hate her to death!" Bai Xiaobai was furious. Mommy was his, he couldn’t let bad people bully his mommy.

"Xiao Bai, you need to understand one thing: living in this world, not everything you run into is a person—sometimes it’s a mad dog. If a dog bites you, are you going to stay mad about it?" Bai Qianqian wasn’t worried about upsetting Bai Jingqing. In her eyes, Bai Mother now was just a rabid dog.

She happened to be able to use Bai Mother to teach her son something.

"I...I..."

"No matter what, you can’t bite back. Two options. One, stay away, and if you see them again, walk around them. Two, beat them to death. Got it?" Bai Qianqian rubbed her son’s mushroom-cut head.

Bai Xiaobai nodded hard.

"Xiao Bai, go back to your room first." Bai Jingqing patted his son’s small shoulder.

Bai Xiaobai obediently hopped off the sofa and went back to his own room.

Bai Jingqing moved over and sat down, taking Bai Qianqian’s hand and apologizing to her. "Qianqian, I’m sorry. I didn’t expect to run into them."

"It’s fine, as long as you’re not mad at me." Bai Qianqian smiled.

"What you just taught our son—do you really mean that? Qianqian, I will never be mad at you. Right now I just can’t believe I actually have a mother like that." Bai Jingqing felt like his head was about to explode.

"You should’ve known that five years ago. It’s okay. Didn’t I say it already? I’ll walk around her if I see her in the future." Bai Qianqian smiled, unconcerned.

"I need to go out for a bit. I’ll try to come back early and cook you two dinner."

"Go ahead, if you’ve got something to do, take care of it."

"It’s about Baobei. Big Brother said Baobei has a fever. I’m worried. You know her health hasn’t been good before, so I’m going over to check on her."
