Desolate Devouring Art
Chapter 1917 - Primal Chaos Shards
Agonized screams rang out one after another from the Celestial Moon Dao Hall’s section. These deaths, however, differed from the previous ones. The fallen mentors’ bodies rapidly withered until nothing remained but empty shells of human skin.
Before each mentor perished, a black hole manifested beside them, stripping away every trace of their energy and laws.
"This is bad! We have to stop Liu Wuxie from refining them," the other mentors shouted.
Liu Wuxie’s ability to summon a black hole was no longer a secret after he had revealed it in the underground fight club.
By the time Zhu Gaoyang and the others realized what was happening, their chance to intervene had already vanished. All nine Origin Immortals disappeared before they could react.
Boundless energy flooded the Sky Devouring Divine Cauldron alongside dense Origin Immortal Realm laws. Those laws surged through its depths like ancient divine dragons, unleashing a deafening rumble.
“Profound Myriad-Aspect Sand!” Liu Wuxie immediately retrieved the Profound Myriad-Aspect Sand, determined to seize this momentum and charge straight into the sixth-level Spirit Immortal Realm.
With the Profound Myriad-Aspect Sand and the laws of the Origin Immortal Realm at his disposal, breaking through two consecutive levels would pose little difficulty.
The Desolate Devouring Art accelerated violently, creating a disturbance even more terrifying than the previous one.
Liu Wuxie had another purpose for bringing out the Profound Myriad-Aspect Sand. The Sky Devouring Divine Cauldron had gone too long without evolving. If he could trigger another evolution, he would no longer need to fear devouring Origin Immortals.
In the past, Liu Wuxie had refrained from recklessly refining Origin Immortals because they could forcibly escape the Sky Devouring Divine Cauldron. That danger had compelled him to proceed with extreme caution. He had originally intended to preserve the Sky Devouring Divine Cauldron as one of his trump cards for the martial path category.
Gongye Zhang hurried forward and placed himself between Liu Wuxie and the crowd, guarding him against any sneak attack during the breakthrough.
“What is happening? Is Liu Wuxie really about to break through again?” people murmured.
Watching Liu Wuxie achieve consecutive breakthroughs over the course of two matches defied all belief.
“Is Liu Wuxie using the mentor competition to raise his cultivation as much as possible before the martial path contest?” someone asked.
The purpose behind Liu Wuxie’s actions finally became clear to many spectators. He intended to push his cultivation as high as possible before entering the final martial path battle.
“This is terrifying. Isn’t he afraid that so many consecutive breakthroughs will destabilize his foundation?”
Ordinary cultivators needed considerable time to consolidate their foundations after every breakthrough. Liu Wuxie faced no such limitation. Before reaching the Immortal Emperor Realm, instability posed no concern to him, and sufficient resources would allow his cultivation to continue advancing.
No one could provide an answer. Conventional reasoning had long since lost its value when applied to Liu Wuxie.
The Sky Devouring Divine Cauldron devoured the surrounding energy with increasing ferocity. Immortal energy from across the entire Ten-Mile Slope rushed toward it, creating an astonishing spectacle.
Even the Divine Immortals in attendance could not conceal their shock.
Once the energy and laws of the nine Origin Immortals had been refined, they converged into a vast river and thundered into the Desolate World.
Soon afterward, demonic flames engulfed the Profound Myriad-Aspect Sand and gradually melted it into countless golden threads. Those threads burrowed deep into the Sky Devouring Divine Cauldron, and a thunderous rumble immediately erupted from within.
The Sky Devouring Divine Cauldron suddenly swelled to nearly one-third beyond its original size. Yet its expansion was not the most astonishing transformation. Mysterious golden runes surfaced across the cauldron, each one radiating the power of ancient primal chaos energy.
The Sky Devouring Divine Cauldron expanded and contracted in rapid succession, crumbling the space around Liu Wuxie. It even began forcibly dragging the surrounding laws of heaven and earth into its depths.
“What in the world is happening?” the surrounding cultivators cried as they recoiled in horror.
The collapsing space continued spreading outward, feeding even more laws of heaven and earth into the cauldron and multiplying the golden runes upon its surface. Deep within the Sky Devouring Divine Cauldron, the Purgatory Palace flickered in and out of existence. It no longer resembled a mere phantom and had become almost tangible.
“What kind of monster is hiding inside Liu Wuxie? How can it devour the laws of heaven and earth?” people wondered.
Even the Divine Immortals lost their composure. They rose from their seats one after another and extended their powerful divine senses toward Liu Wuxie, attempting to pierce his defenses and probe the secrets within his body.
A world of primal chaos had formed around Liu Wuxie, however, and it annihilated every divine sense that attempted to enter.
“What terrifying tearing force! I can’t bring my divine sense anywhere near him!” the Stormcloud Sect’s sect master exclaimed in shock. He had already reached the pinnacle of the Divine Immortal Realm.
The other Divine Immortals wore equally shaken expressions before slowly returning to their seats.
As the vortex continued expanding, Liu Wuxie recalled the secret of the Sky Devouring Divine Cauldron contained within the Divine Race’s memories. According to legend, primal chaos energy had ceaselessly devoured everything in existence at the dawn of creation. Eventually, it formed a colossal vortex before assuming the shape of a cauldron.
The Sky Devouring Divine Cauldron’s transformation into a vortex now offered further confirmation of the Divine Race’s theory.
The gateway to the fifth-level Spirit Immortal Realm burst into countless fragments and sank into the Desolate World. Liu Wuxie’s aura immediately soared, racing toward the late phase of the fifth level.
Meanwhile, the Sky Devouring Divine Cauldron’s evolution continued as the vortex gradually contracted and the runes covering its surface slowly faded. Liu Wuxie alone could perceive the cauldron’s true form. Everyone else saw only a vortex.
Within a few breaths, boundless laws of heaven and earth erupted from the depths of the Sky Devouring Divine Cauldron.
“Pour into the Desolate World!” Liu Wuxie roared, driving every law into the world below.
The Desolate World expanded rapidly as it absorbed the laws, each carrying a trace of primal chaos energy. The disturbance awakened Blackie from its cultivation, prompting it to raise its head toward the sky and sink into deep contemplation.
From that moment forward, every stream of energy Liu Wuxie absorbed through the Sky Devouring Divine Cauldron would carry a wisp of primal chaos energy.
Shock still reverberated through Liu Wuxie. He had never imagined that the Sky Devouring Divine Cauldron’s evolution would produce such drastic transformations.
Although calm gradually returned to the surroundings, primal chaos energy continued shrouding Liu Wuxie and prevented every divine sense from penetrating it.
The nourishment of primal chaos energy also began transforming Liu Wuxie’s soul sea. It grew denser than before and acquired a trace of primal chaos energy, while the mental energy within his upper dantian expanded rapidly.
“Time for the next breakthrough,” Liu Wuxie murmured.
The fifth-level Spirit Immortal Realm fell far short of his ultimate objective. He poured every trace of energy refined within the cauldron into the Desolate World.
A succession of thunderous rumbles erupted as large Primal Chaos Shards emerged from the cauldron’s depths. Every shard exuded an ancient aura.
After devouring and compressing the surrounding laws of heaven and earth, the cauldron produced dozens of additional shards, each no larger than a fingernail. Liu Wuxie had obtained so few despite devouring all the space within a several-thousand-meter radius, making their extraordinary value obvious.
Blackie swiftly seized one shard, tossed it into its mouth, and crushed it between its teeth. The instant it swallowed, a dark sheen spread across its body. Its physique expanded at an astonishing pace until it became significantly larger than before.
By Liu Wuxie’s estimate, Blackie’s combat strength had now reached a level comparable to that of an ordinary Divine Immortal.
The remaining Primal Chaos Shards rapidly merged with the Desolate World. They melted one by one, fused into the world itself, and became inseparable from it.
Liu Wuxie distinctly sensed the Desolate World’s spatial laws growing increasingly stable. They even displayed signs of surpassing the laws of the outside world, revealing the wondrous power contained within the Primal Chaos Shards.
Only a few dozen shards had strengthened the Desolate World severalfold. Liu Wuxie could not imagine what transformation might occur if he absorbed even more.
Without warning, a surge of primeval force rose from the Desolate World’s depths.
“This...” Liu Wuxie’s heart lurched as he peered deep into the world.
An illusory, limbless larval beast hovered there. It possessed no head, limbs, claws, eyes, or facial features, resembling a primitive creature born directly from primal chaos.
This larval beast was the first insect born between heaven and earth and the progenitor of all insects. Because it was still evolving, its form had yet to become solid.
“The Desolate World has finally produced its first lifeform!” Liu Wuxie murmured.
Ariel, Blackie, and the poisonous insects Liu Wuxie had recently brought inside were not native to the Desolate World. He had transferred them there from the outside.
The larval beast stood apart from them. It was the first genuine lifeform born within the Desolate World itself.
As the world continued to develop, more lifeforms would eventually come into existence.
That process would still require an exceedingly long time. Countless years of evolution had to pass before the larval beast could develop into a true insect. However, every increase in Liu Wuxie’s cultivation would accelerate the Desolate World’s growth and greatly shorten that period.
After revealing itself for only a brief moment, the larval beast vanished from Liu Wuxie’s sight and retreated deep underground.
Boundless primal chaos energy saturated the Desolate World, gradually drawing the gateway to the sixth-level Spirit Immortal Realm into existence.
Liu Wuxie had no time to investigate anything further. Completing his breakthrough remained his highest priority. Once his cultivation advanced, he could slowly examine the changes within the Sky Devouring Divine Cauldron and the Desolate World.
The Sky Devouring Divine Cauldron returned to Liu Wuxie’s body and descended into the Desolate World’s depths. The Purgatory Palace had also become increasingly realistic. Liu Wuxie now believed he could use it to crush ordinary cultivators at the first or second level of the Origin Immortal Realm to death with ease.
As the power of the five elements emerged, Liu Wuxie used the momentum of his breakthrough to practice the Five Elemental Divine Palm.
“Open!” Liu Wuxie thundered.
A colossal palm plunged from the sky and struck the gateway to the sixth-level Spirit Immortal Realm with devastating force.
The gateway didn't move in the slightest. After absorbing so much primal chaos energy, Liu Wuxie had made every future breakthrough increasingly difficult.
“My strength still falls short,” Liu Wuxie muttered.
The power of the five elements continued converging. The Five Elemental Divine Palm still possessed tremendous potential for improvement and remained far from revealing its complete might.
Among the Three Thousand Dao Arts, the Five Elemental Divine Palm ranked within the top five. That ranking alone revealed how terrifying the true power of the five elements could become.
“Blackie, spar with me,” Liu Wuxie said. His divine sense manifested within the Desolate World, taking human form upon the ground as he gazed at Blackie from afar.
After devouring a primal chaos shard, Blackie had grown considerably more powerful. It was equally eager to battle Liu Wuxie and measure its newfound strength.
Liu Wuxie beckoned, and the power of the five elements rapidly converged above him. In the blink of an eye, the Five Elemental Divine Palm took shape and crashed toward Blackie.
Instead of using its staff, Blackie met the descending palm with a bare fist. Their powers collided, unleashing an explosion deep within the Desolate World.
“Again! The five elements still haven’t fused completely!” Liu Wuxie called, beckoning once more.
A second Five Elemental Divine Palm materialized, noticeably denser and more concentrated than the first.
The five elements simultaneously nourished and countered one another. To unleash their absolute limit, Liu Wuxie needed to discover the perfect point at which all five converged.
