Desolate Devouring Art

Chapter 1915 - Fourth-Level Spirit Immortal Realm

  • Next Chapter

From that moment onward, Liu Wuxie would have to enter every match himself. The Celestial Moon Dao Hall clearly intended to grind him down beneath an unbroken succession of challenges.

After excluding the mentors who had already challenged him, Liu Wuxie swiftly fixed his gaze upon the remaining nine. Five were Profound Immortals, four were Origin Immortals, and several occupied high-ranking positions within the Celestial Moon Dao Hall.

The Heavenly Dao shackles plunged from the sky.

"Please, spare me! Don't kill me!" the mentors screamed.

No one could defy Heavenly Dao's execution, not even Divine Immortals.

The Celestial Moon Dao Hall's hall master watched with such fury that his eyes nearly split apart. He attempted to intervene several times, but Gongye Zhang stood at the arena's edge, blocking his path. Anyone seeking to harm Liu Wuxie would first have to overcome Gongye Zhang.

The Heavenly Dao's shackles constricted around the nine mentors, shattering their primordial spirits. One after another, their lifeless bodies crumpled to the ground.

Liu Wuxie had no intention of stopping there. A casual sweep of his hand drew all nine interspatial rings into his possession.

The mentors he had killed earlier possessed relatively little wealth, but these nine were different. As members of the Celestial Moon Dao Hall's upper echelons, they had naturally accumulated far greater riches.

"Liu Wuxie, you dare steal their interspatial rings?!" Zhu Gaoyang and the other mentors roared in fury. Several of the fallen Origin Immortals had amassed tremendous fortunes and countless treasures. Allowing those resources to fall into Liu Wuxie's hands would only make him even stronger.

Without another thought, Zhu Gaoyang lunged toward Liu Wuxie.

"Get out of here!" Gongye Zhang barked as he waved one hand and hurled Zhu Gaoyang backward, denying him any chance to approach the arena.

Including Bi Xueluo's, Liu Wuxie had acquired ten interspatial rings in total. He swept his divine sense through their contents, and a faint smile curved up his lips. The rings held nearly ten million immortal stones, along with a vast assortment of pills, spiritual herbs, and artifacts.

Liu Wuxie immediately cast all ordinary pills into the Sky Devouring Divine Cauldron and refined them to further strengthen the Desolate World.

"Golden Roc blood essence," Liu Wuxie exclaimed.

A porcelain bottle materialized in his hand. The instant he removed its seal, the phantom of a golden roc burst forth and hovered above his head, unfurling its wings as though preparing to soar into the heavens.

Cries of wonder rang out from the surroundings. "What an extraordinary treasure."

Killing ten mentors had already granted Liu Wuxie an enormous fortune, yet nothing else among his spoils could rival the value of the Golden Roc blood essence.

Countless covetous eyes locked upon Liu Wuxie, their owners longing to charge forward and seize the Golden Roc blood essence. Such thoughts could never become more than fantasy. Everyone understood that Gongye Zhang would kill anyone who approached recklessly without a moment's hesitation.

A black hole abruptly opened in the sky and swallowed the Golden Roc blood essence whole. As soon as the black hole disappeared, Liu Wuxie's aura began to rise rapidly, revealing unmistakable signs that a breakthrough was imminent.

Liu Wuxie knew his current strength was insufficient to guarantee victory in the martial path category. Advancing his cultivation offered him his only path forward.

Ideally, he needed to break through to the higher levels of the Spirit Immortal Realm.

With the Five Elemental Divine Palm, Divine Ninefold Step, Heavenly Crest Divine Blade Art, Divine Mystic Yin Needle, Divine Eternal Fist, and his numerous other methods, Liu Wuxie would then possess the confidence to hold his ground against his opponent.

Only plunder could advance his cultivation with the speed he required. For precisely that reason, he had increased the price of every defeat from one life to ten.

Liu Wuxie had calculated each move with meticulous precision. By killing ten mentors at once, he stood a far greater chance of discovering treasures among their possessions that could elevate his cultivation.

If he managed to reach the Profound Immortal Realm, even cultivators at the pinnacle of the Origin Immortal Realm would cease to be his match.

The Sky Devouring Divine Cauldron spun with astonishing speed, releasing torrents of spiritual liquid that surged toward Liu Wuxie like a rushing tide.

Gongye Zhang sprang into motion and appeared beside Liu Wuxie to guard him. Since Liu Wuxie had already entered the crucial stage of a breakthrough, the mentor competition had to be suspended temporarily.

The Celestial Moon Dao Hall protested loudly, but the Azure Flame Dao Hall refused to yield. Similar events had occurred during previous competitions. Whenever someone broke through in the middle of a match, the competition paused until they completed the process, then resumed afterward. This rule existed primarily to ensure fairness.

The Azure Flame Dao Hall likewise would not interfere if someone from the Celestial Moon Dao Hall entered a breakthrough.

"What kind of terrifying cultivation technique is this? It has condensed the surrounding immortal energy into liquid," onlookers exclaimed.

Very few among those present had ever witnessed Liu Wuxie break through. Only a small handful recognized the astonishing spectacle unfolding before them.

The Thousand Hands Yama narrowed his eyes as a piercing chill flashed in their depths.

"Pavilion Master, Liu Wuxie must not leave this place alive. He has destroyed our plan to unite the whole of Eastern Emperor City. Whatever the cost, we have to eliminate him," the man beside the Thousand Hands Yama urged.

The Eastern Emperor Pavilion had long nurtured towering ambitions to become the sole overlord of Eastern Emperor City. They had even plotted against Xiang Zicheng and damaged his soul sea. Since then, only a handful of powers within the city had remained capable of threatening their supremacy.

More recently, they had joined forces with the Shadow Divination Gate to establish the Shadow Divination Dao Hall in Eastern Emperor City, planning to use it to devour the Azure Flame Dao Hall. Once the Azure Flame Dao Hall collapsed, they would turn against the Xiang Manor and destroy it, clearing their path toward undisputed control over Eastern Emperor City.

Liu Wuxie's arrival had shattered every part of that plan and inflicted devastating losses upon the Eastern Emperor Pavilion.

"He doesn't have much longer to live," the Thousand Hands Yama replied viciously. He refused to believe that Xiang Zicheng and Gongye Zhang could protect Liu Wuxie forever.

The Sky Devouring Divine Cauldron revolved faster with each passing moment, forming a colossal vortex above Liu Wuxie's head and drawing streams of spiritual liquid into his body. His aura continued rising steadily, yet the barrier to the fourth-level Spirit Immortal Realm showed no sign of breaking.

"His body might as well be a bottomless abyss. Anyone else at the lower levels of the Profound Immortal Realm would have exploded by now," someone said.

Even the Origin Immortals struggled to comprehend the sight. Several moved closer to the arena, hoping for a clearer view of the phenomenon.

"His cultivation technique must be the reason. No ordinary cultivation technique can condense so much spiritual liquid in such a short period," the Stormcloud Sect's sect master observed.

Hundreds of experts crowded within a hundred meters of Liu Wuxie, each offering a different interpretation of what they saw. Yet not one of their divine senses could penetrate his body. Liu Wuxie's mental energy had formed an invisible force field around him, repelling every attempt to probe within.

Gongye Zhang also maintained his vigil beside Liu Wuxie. Their divine senses could not even pierce the barrier he had erected, much less overcome Liu Wuxie's mental defenses.

Protected by both layers, Liu Wuxie could devote every ounce of concentration to his breakthrough.

"What a monster!" people murmured enviously from the surroundings. If they possessed such a formidable cultivation technique, they might have reached the Divine Immortal Realm long ago.

"Break!" Liu Wuxie thundered.

Once the Golden Roc blood essence had been completely refined, it transformed into a terrifying golden torrent and flooded the Desolate World.

A thunderous rumble shook the entire Desolate World, releasing an immense surge of power. Deep within it, the gateway to the fourth-level Spirit Immortal Realm shattered instantly and burst into countless fragments.

Liu Wuxie immediately retrieved one million immortal stones and hurled them into the Sky Devouring Divine Cauldron. The cauldron rapidly transformed them into liquid energy, which roared through his meridians like a raging current.

"This is terrifying! How can this be a breakthrough within the Spirit Immortal Realm? It looks like someone is advancing through the Profound Immortal Realm!"

The spectacle nearly drove many onlookers mad, especially those belonging to the Celestial Moon Dao Hall. Every new glimpse of Liu Wuxie's terrifying talent magnified the threat he posed to them.

"Hand over every one of your interspatial rings," Zhu Gaoyang ordered as he hurriedly collected them from the surrounding mentors. This way, he could prevent their treasures from falling into Liu Wuxie's hands even if they died.

Though reluctant, the surrounding mentors still surrendered their interspatial rings to Elder Gu for safekeeping.

Their actions immediately drew a frown from Liu Wuxie. Although immersed in his breakthrough, he remained perfectly conscious of everything unfolding around him. He firmly believed that the Celestial Moon Dao Hall's mentors possessed treasures capable of pushing him even further through the Spirit Immortal Realm.

If those treasures slipped beyond his reach, every subsequent breakthrough would become considerably more difficult.

Roughly fifteen minutes later, Liu Wuxie finally stabilized his new cultivation. When his eyes opened, a terrifying gleam blazed within them. He slowly rose, sending faint ripples rolling outward from his body.

"What an incredible physique!" the spectators exclaimed.

Reaching the fourth-level Spirit Immortal Realm had strengthened Liu Wuxie's unity with heaven and earth once again. Under the Crystal Glaze Bead's continuous nourishment, his physique had already grown comparable to that of a Profound Immortal.

He casually thrust out his fist, and the surrounding space exploded violently.

"Ordinary Profound Immortals can no longer match him," the Yue Clan's patriarch concluded after sensing Liu Wuxie's aura.

Many found his assessment impossible to believe. "How could that be? He's only a fourth-level Spirit Immortal," someone exclaimed. They had seen cultivators defeat opponents above their own level before, but crossing an entire major realm was another matter entirely.

"Would a single one of you have believed this if you hadn't witnessed it yourselves?" the Kang Clan's patriarch asked.

No one answered. Before today, none of them would have believed that Liu Wuxie could slaughter so many people single-handedly.

Liu Wuxie immediately searched the interspatial rings with his divine sense, hunting for enough resources to reach the fifth-level Spirit Immortal Realm. He discovered several pills that offered him a strong chance of another breakthrough, but he chose not to consume them yet. He planned to prepare more thoroughly after the next match.

"Wuxie, I have the sword seal and the sixth-grade immortal pill here. Use them whenever you need them," Gongye Zhang said. He was well aware of Liu Wuxie's intentions.

The coming battles promised exceptional difficulty, particularly after the Celestial Moon Dao Hall confiscated every mentor's interspatial ring. Liu Wuxie could no longer count upon plundering resources from his enemies.

Liu Wuxie accepted the Profound Myriad-Aspect Sand and the sixth-grade immortal pill without hesitation. Those two treasures would support another two breakthroughs.

Reaching the sixth-level Spirit Immortal Realm had now become virtually certain.

If he could refine several Origin Immortals as well, he could advance to the seventh-level Spirit Immortal Realm.

The mentor competition resumed, and the cultivators surrounding the arena gradually dispersed to return to their seats.

After entrusting the treasures to Liu Wuxie, Gongye Zhang also withdrew from the arena.

Liu Wuxie's figure flickered, and he appeared inside the arena for the magic art category.

"Does Liu Wuxie understand magic too?" people wondered.

Few cultivators in the celestial realm possessed any proficiency in magic art. Liu Wuxie had already stunned everyone with his poison art skills. If he proved equally formidable in magic arts, their eyes might truly pop out of their sockets from sheer disbelief.

"Who can say? We'll find out soon enough," someone replied.

By this point, Liu Wuxie's astonishing displays had numbed the crowd. Only he understood how many secrets still remained hidden within him.

"Mentor Ye, how come I've never seen Mentor Liu perform magic before?" one of the mentors beside Ye Linghan asked.

Ye Linghan could only smile ruefully. She had known Liu Wuxie for half a year, yet every new revelation made him seem more unfathomable than before. His abilities seemed as inexhaustible as a treasury whose depths no one could ever reach.

By collecting every mentor's interspatial ring, the Celestial Moon Dao Hall had effectively severed Liu Wuxie's supply of resources.

Meanwhile, the mentors gathered around the Azure Flame Dao Hall began retrieving every treasure they carried and offering them to Liu Wuxie. Whether those treasures proved useful mattered little to them. They wanted him to understand the sincerity behind their actions.

The mountain of immortal stones before him stirred Liu Wuxie deeply. He could clearly feel that this battle had strengthened the Azure Flame Dao Hall's unity by hundreds of times.
