DesertCraft: Fishing Pocket Heaven

Chapter 121: New Discoveries – Teleportation, Altar!

  • Next Chapter

Time moves forward. The twilight skies dyed the mountaintops in a reddish-dusk hue.

“Whew~” Yu Zhiye admired the twilight desert view from his rock shelter in the cliff face. The same one he personally dug out days ago.

This high vantage point was perfect for spying on the store from afar while the height made this spot a natural safe zone from the death angels and other survivors alike.

At least, most can’t get up here unless they manually dig their way up.

That can’t rule out those with special abilities though. Like himself!

Yu Zhiye turned around and walked deeper into the tunnel. A palm aimed at the wall and a purple cube fired out…

The magical cube sunk into the rocky surface and soon, the familiar mysterious door rippled into existence!

Enter the door and he’s back in his little world.

Cross from one side to the other and another glowing portal awaited him.

Exit through that and he was no longer in a cave tunnel, but down in the desert sand!

Turning around, Yu Zhiye watched the door shrink back down to nothing and reclaimed the cube from the rocky mountainside.

Now, by carrying only one cube around, he could place it anywhere he wanted and basically achieve a two-way teleportation between two waypoints!

This was what he discovered after a little testing! At least, short-range teleportation within several meters posed no issues!

“It’s still unknown if there’s a distance limitation, but that’s easy to test. Just head back and see…”

In any case, there’s not much daylight left. So there’s not much else to do besides rushing back to base.

Seeing the darkening skies, Yu Zhiye hurried even more. At the same time, he can’t help but notice something strange.

“Huh? Looks like both teams are back late today? Wonder what held them up…”

If they came back any later, the desert might turn into a minefield that can’t be crossed…

Though Yu Zhiye had some inexplicable worries, he didn’t think much about it.

Adventuring comes with risks, and there’s no guarantee every adventure is smooth-sailing.

But as long as it’s not his team in trouble, why should he care?

Uhh… he isn’t raising any red flags, right?

Not long after a flag bearer carried a red flag back to base, the desert welcomed back a rag-tag team that look like they’ve been through a wild adventure...

Taking point were two men tanned by the sun, both now bare-chested. A comparison showed one being significantly more muscular than the other while the other one won on the hairy side.

But their blood and scars didn’t lose out to each other.

These were naturally the muscles of the team: Baldie Tae and Madadog Park Insu.

Limping behind them was the pot-bellied Kim Sungho who looked worse for wear, with burns here and there.

And finally the four-eyes, Kwan Minhwoo... who lost a fair amount of his gentlemanly image. There were tears in his suit trousers and even a crack in his glasses.

Quite obviously, they’ve taken quite the beating today and there’s no need to ask why because somebody couldn’t shut his trap.

“...Madaraka! That crappy blueprint better be worth the risk we took! Or nothing is convincing me from going back to mining stones!”

“Che, enough bullshit, dawg! You’ve been barking all the way back. Aren’t ya tired?”

“What? Don’t you oversea donkeys love freedom above all else? What’s wrong with me exercising my right to freedom of speech?”

“Scared others will find out what happened? Lure the spiders away and sneak into their nest to steal the treasure on the altar… what a brilliant idea! Madaraka! Brilliant my ass!”

It’s quite understandable why his mood was so foul.

As newly-minted adventurers, it’s normal their greed couldn’t resist the test when they see treasure, let alone something that clearly looked extraordinary.

A mysterious glowing card floating over a mysterious altar. Right inside what appears to be a monster nest.

Honestly, even a dummy knew that’s something precious, and they even suspected the card might bless them with special powers or be something like the monster cards of that summoner from the other base.

So there’s no way they could walk away from such a treasure without even trying.

Hence, they came up with a great plan that they thought would be foolproof. But just like most newbie adventurers, they overestimated themselves and underestimated the viciousness of this world.

Everything was fine going in. But steal the treasure and escape? How could it be that easy!

Right after taking the card from the altar, things went wrong real quick.

That card was like a beacon for all the spiders nearby and another game mechanic made things even worse:

The card couldn’t be stored into inventory while there were hostile monsters around! How abominable!

But how could they give up the treasure already in hand?

From that point on, they literally had to slaughter their way out from the nest!

If it weren’t for the narrowness of the tunnel they dug and the two powerful bruisers holding the line, even if each of them had nine lives, they would’ve been buried there!

Fortunately, they made it out in the end and the prize was anything but simple.

Kwan Minhwoo glanced at the mysterious card stored in his inventory.

[Blueprint: Basic Cookie Generator (Blue)]

x8 Any Stone-tier Block, x1 emerald

It was actually a construction card! For a food item producer on top of that!

There’s no need to go on about the value of this card in a survival game, let alone in this barren desert.

If everything goes as plan, they can directly get rid of their reliance on that fisherman for food!

Once that happens…

Won’t the entire survivor base be in their hands?

Just thinking about it got them excited! But not excited enough to ignore the drastic changes in terrain.

“Aeuh? Is it just me or does the way back look different from this morning?”

“Bald donkey, go get glasses! How can you miss that obvious crater in the sand?”

“Che, I’m not blind! I can see that just fine!”

And so could the rest.

Kwan Minhwoo crouched down to scrutinize the traces. If he remembered correctly… here should’ve been a quicksand zone surrounded by relatively flat landscape.

Yet now, the dunes sloped in like a chunk went missing...

Though a great part of the traces got wiped clean due to the nature of the quicksand, his decades of professional experience still pieced together what likely occurred. “...an explosion?”
