Chapter 139: Basic Technique.

He had already found Sasha, freed the demonic beasts, and created enough chaos to give himself an opportunity to escape, so there was no reason he couldn’t simply disappear into the forest before the traffickers managed to recover from the sudden turn of events.

However, the more he thought about it, the less appealing the idea became.

If he fled now and these people somehow survived, they would surely seek revenge against him, especially after he had destroyed their operation and released the creatures they had spent so much time capturing.

He had no idea how many people were involved in their business, nor could he be certain that the men inside this camp were the only ones who knew about the place, and allowing even a few of them to escape could create problems that would follow him long after he had left the forest.

Worse still, if they somehow managed to discover where he was staying, Nicholas and his family could end up being dragged into his own problems, despite having done nothing wrong.

Osborne had no intention of allowing that to happen.

The family had treated him well when he had nowhere else to stay, offering him food and shelter without asking for anything in return, and although he had no intention of becoming overly attached to them, he wasn’t going to repay their kindness by bringing danger to their doorstep.

In the end, Osborne’s gaze hardened as he decided to deal with this matter here and now.

If the traffickers wanted to make enemies of him, then he would give them a reason to regret that decision, and he would make certain that none of them would ever have the opportunity to come after him or the people who had offered him a place to stay.

"Help us!!!!"

"Nooo!!! Get off me!"

"Damnit! We need backup over here!"

Frantic cries rang out under the cover of night within the encampment, as the traffickers struggled desperately against the demonic beasts that had been released from their cages.

The men who had initially been responsible for putting out the fire had finally finished their task, and after realising that something had gone terribly wrong in the other part of the camp, they quickly rushed to their comrades’ aid.

Several of them carried swords and spears, while others grabbed whatever weapons they could find, hoping that their combined strength would be enough to bring the raging beasts under control.

Their arrival made a noticeable difference, as the traffickers were finally able to surround some of the creatures and force them away from their injured companions, while others worked together to block the beasts from spreading farther.

Although they had suffered several casualties, the men had not survived in this line of work by being completely helpless, and once they stopped panicking and began working together, they managed to bring the raging beasts’ charge to a standstill.

The screams gradually became less frequent, and the traffickers who had been struggling to protect themselves finally found enough breathing room to regroup, their faces covered in sweat as they tried to catch their breath.

"Push them to one spot!"

"Don’t let those things get far, or we’ll all be dead before morning!"

"I swear I’ll kill that armoured bastard after this!"

Their leader’s voice rang through the encampment, filled with anger as he looked around for the armoured man who had caused all this trouble.

He spotted Osborne silently standing on the wall. Seeing as their enemy watched them in silence, he felt even more frustrated.

However, just when the traffickers thought things were finally getting under control, something unusual caught their attention.

One of the men raised his head towards the sky, his expression slowly changing as he noticed several faint points of light shining above the encampment, and before he could figure out what they were, more glowing lights began appearing beside them until countless lights illuminated the darkness overhead.

---

For a moment, the traffickers thought someone had lit up countless lanterns in the sky, and it was only when they looked up that their eyes constricted in fear.

The glowing lights were scattered across the darkness above them, each one radiating a heat that could be felt even from a distance, and as the men gradually realised what they were looking at, their faces turned pale.

[Fireball]

"Fire barrage..."

Osborne stood on top of the wooden wall, his crimson eyes observing the situation below as he casually raised his hand, and the next moment, over twelve fireballs grew even larger around him, their bright flames illuminating his armour and the surrounding darkness.

He had already decided that he wasn’t going to let these people escape. Them making a living capturing and selling demonic beasts could be ignored, but capturing a human being and pushing her to such a state couldn’t.

He saw no reason to show them any mercy.

With a simple movement of his hand, the fireballs shot towards the encampment, raining down on the already pressured traffickers like a storm of burning rocks.

"Ahhhhh!!!"

"It burns!!!"

The sudden attack threw the entire encampment into further chaos, as the men who had been struggling to hold back the demonic beasts now found themselves having to deal with the threat of being burned alive.

Some tried to dodge the incoming fireballs, while others raised their weapons in a desperate attempt to protect themselves, but the attacks came quickly from above, leaving them with very little time to react before the flames reached them.

One of the traffickers who had been holding his own against the beasts watched as his comrades were burned around him, his expression twisting with anger as he struggled to keep the creature in front of him from tearing into his body.

’That cold-blooded bastard...’

He glared at Osborne, who was standing on top of the wall, while gritting his teeth in frustration, his hands tightening around the hilt of his sword as he tried to find a way to reach the man responsible for their suffering.

’He’s intentionally picking off our weakest links.’

’If something’s not done, that mage is going to wipe us all out.’
