Bai Wanwan threw herself into his arms and nuzzled his shoulder. "I’m so glad to see you’re both safe."

Xin Feng stroked her soft hair and said in a low voice, "It’s all thanks to Zhu Xiu this time."

Bai Wanwan turned slightly to look at the motionless, coiled King Cobra.

She didn’t really know Zhu Xiu at all. She’d guessed he was powerful, but she had never imagined he could escape completely unscathed alongside Xin Feng, especially when surrounded by so many Wandering Beasts.

"Are the cubs behaving? Have they been kicking you?"

His voice, like the melting of pristine white snow, instantly pulled her attention back to him.

She smiled, looking down to stroke her swelling belly.

"They haven’t been giving me much trouble. It’s just that this pregnancy is more tiring than the last one."

"Then you should get some rest. Zhu Xiu and I are here to watch over you now, so you can relax and focus on your pregnancy."

As he spoke, he bent down and scooped her into his arms.

The narrow stone bed was already spread with soft bedding. Xin Feng lifted the covers and gently laid her down.

After laying her down, he didn’t immediately let go. His gaze traced every inch of her face.

He raised a hand to smooth a strand of hair by her cheek. "We can’t let other beastmen find out you’re a Holy Female. We can’t let what happened in Wandering Beast City happen again."

Bai Wanwan let his fingers trace her cheek, a languid smile gracing her lips. "Alright. From now on, I’ll take this secret to the grave. I won’t tell a soul."

Her eyes were so beautiful that Xin Feng couldn’t resist leaning down to kiss her forehead.

’He wanted to hold her and talk with her more, but he still wasn’t used to being with Wanwan while another male was present.’

Zhu Xiu was absorbing the Energy Stone, but his focus remained entirely behind him.

Every single word of the conversation between the little female and Xin Feng drilled into his ears.

’She was clearly far more relaxed and charmingly playful in front of Xin Feng.’

’At this realization, his possessiveness began to flare up.’

’He wanted to throw Xin Feng out of the stone house.’

It took an immense amount of self-control to suppress the urge.

After lying in Xin Feng’s arms for a moment, Bai Wanwan’s eyelids began to grow heavy.

Xin Feng noticed and gently withdrew his arm from behind her neck. "I’ll go heat some water so you can wash up."

He slowly rose and left.

Bai Wanwan yawned, intending to roll over. But as she lifted her gaze, she locked eyes with a pair of scarlet pupils.

The sleepiness vanished, scared right out of her.

Then Zhu Xiu slowly turned his head back, once again facing the entrance of the cave.

But Wanwan was no longer sleepy. That single glance had sent a chill up her spine.

’Is Zhu Xiu unhappy?’

After a moment’s hesitation, Bai Wanwan pushed aside the covers, wrapped the Beast Skin Skirt around herself, and slowly approached Zhu Xiu.

She reached out, touching his cold, scaly body. "Zhu Xiu, are you going to stay here all night? Why don’t you sleep on the stone bed?"

’She didn’t actually know if Zhu Xiu was angry, or what he might be angry about.’

’But she felt she had to be a "Master of Water Carrying."’

’Now that Zhu Xiu was also one of her Beast Husbands, she couldn’t just give him the cold shoulder.’

Wanwan’s touch and her questions did indeed soothe Zhu Xiu’s restless heart.

He slowly lowered his great head, drawing closer to Wanwan.

’A King Cobra that large, suddenly moving so close...’

After a brief hesitation, Bai Wanwan still reached out, embracing his head and pressing her cheek against his scales.

She gently stroked his head and murmured, "It’s cold over here. You should go rest as well."

"No. We’re outsiders here; we have to be careful. I’ll keep watch. You can sleep peacefully."

’Besides, Wanwan was already pregnant. He couldn’t get too close to her for now; he was afraid he wouldn’t be able to control his beastly instincts and might hurt her.’

"Then you and Xin Feng can take turns. You’re on watch tonight, so you can rest tomorrow night."

The red glow in his eyes visibly dimmed. Bai Wanwan breathed a sigh of relief and continued to stroke his head, remarking casually, "Zhu Xiu, if anything is bothering you in the future, you can tell me. I don’t want any misunderstandings between us."

’The last thing she wanted was for him to swallow her whole in a fit of rage.’

Zhu Xiu’s massive eyes shifted, the chilling aura from before now gone.

"Alright."

Only then did she truly relax, breathing a sigh of relief. "I’m tired, so I’m going to bed. Thank you for everything."

Wanwan returned to the bed and stole a glance at Zhu Xiu. The tense atmosphere in the cave had clearly lifted.

’It looked like ’water carrying’ was going to be a mandatory subject for her on the Beast World Continent.’

By this time, Xin Feng had finished heating the water.

He brought the warm water to the bedside. Seeing how drowsy and exhausted Wanwan was, he didn’t hand her the damp linen cloth. Instead, he sat on the edge of the bed and began to gently wash her face and hands himself.

Wanwan’s mind was already growing foggy. Her very last thought was: ’He’s so gentle!’

Then she slipped into unconsciousness, only remembering that the night was wonderfully warm and her sleep, incredibly comfortable.

She slept until she woke naturally, light from outside the stone house spilling into the room.

Wanwan rubbed her eyes and yawned. When she looked up, she saw Xin Feng sitting on a stone stool, splitting firewood.

His posture was perfectly straight, and even while doing such rough work, he exuded an air of noble elegance.

She didn’t get up right away. Instead, she sat up in bed, hugging the down quilt and admiring the beautiful morning scenery.

Xin Feng was gentle and refined, a man of exceptional grace.

’The more time she spent with him, the easier it was to find herself lost in his charm.’

’She was genuinely afraid of becoming the love-struck fool she had once scorned.’

She shook her head, trying to clear it and be more rational.

Just then, Xin Feng noticed she was awake and immediately set down the piece of wood and his Stone Knife.

He walked to the side of the bed and leaned in slightly. "The snow outside is starting to melt, so it’s especially cold today. You should stay bundled up in bed so you don’t catch a chill."

Wanwan had felt it too. When she’d woken up and lifted the down quilt just a fraction, bone-chilling air had snaked its way under the covers.

She shook her head. "I think I’ll get up anyway."

’If she weren’t fully awake, she would have been perfectly happy to lie there in a daze for half the day.’

’But now that she was wide awake, just lying around was boring.’

Worried she would get cold, Xin Feng quickly grabbed her Beast Skin Skirt to help her dress.

He shielded her from the cold air with his body.

Even so, Wanwan was still shivering as she slowly got dressed and out of bed.

She immediately went to the entrance to take a look outside.

A good deal of the snow had indeed melted, and she could see a few males moving about the tribe.

"How long after the snow melts will it be until the warm season arrives?"

Xin Feng glanced at her belly. "The warm season will arrive around the time you give birth. It’s going to be especially cold for the next few days, so you can’t go outside."

Many females, eager to play outside after the snow began to melt, ended up catching a fatal chill.

’It’s so cold out, there’s no one to talk to, and nothing to do for fun. What would I even do out there?’

’The warm season isn’t far off anyway. I just have to bear it for a little longer.’

After talking with him for a while, Wanwan finally remembered Zhu Xiu.

She glanced around the stone house. "I don’t see Zhu Xiu. Where did he go?"

Xin Feng set down the basin of hot water for her to wash with. "Zhu Xiu and I already talked it over. I’ll stay here to take care of you for the next few days while he goes out to hunt..."

As Wanwan listened to him speak, her eyes suddenly fell on something near the entrance.

"Xin Feng, look..."
