Chapter 548: Chapter 545: Yan Lie Is Beaten

"Wanwan!" A low growl, half desperate and half ecstatic, tore from deep in Yan Lie’s throat. The last thread of his reason snapped.

He swept her into his arms and strode toward the three-meter-wide bed.

That night, the temperature in the bedroom was scorching.

The newly ascended Red Rank Male’s stamina was beyond imagination. Love and desire burned like the fiercest flames, threatening to melt them together.

From the bed to the floor, every corner of the room seemed steeped in the fervent aura of their lovemaking.

Not until the morning sun streamed through the window lattice, gently bathing the room in golden light, did a sated Yan Lie tighten his embrace around the female in his arms, who was long since exhausted and fast asleep.

He looked down at Bai Wanwan’s serene sleeping face. Her cheeks still carried a lingering flush, and the corners of her lips were upturned in a slight, contented smile.

An immense sense of happiness and accomplishment swelled in his chest, filling his handsome features with an expression of pure satisfaction and love.

"Wanwan..." he murmured, as if holding a priceless treasure. He placed soft, gentle pecks, one after another, on the corners of her lips, the tip of her nose, and her eyelids. Each kiss was filled with a love and gratitude so profound it threatened to overflow.

Bai Wanwan was jolted awake by a cacophony from outside—a mixture of wailing cubs and a male’s deep-throated shouts.

Sunlight already streamed through a gap in the curtains, a clear sign that the morning was well underway.

"WAAAH... Father Beasts, stop fighting..."

"SOB, SOB... Father Beast Yan Lie is bleeding..."

"Father Beasts... Don’t fight, please, SOB... You said brothers aren’t supposed to fight..."

The cubs’ terrified, helpless cries drifted in, making her heart clench.

Bai Wanwan had been in a drowsy haze, still languid from the previous night’s passion, but the crying instantly chased all sleep from her.

Her heart tightened. Ignoring the soreness in her body, she threw back the soft silk duvet, ran barefoot to the window, and yanked open the curtains.

The scene in the clearing below was one of utter chaos.

Yan Lie had been knocked to the ground by a punch from Zhu Xiu. A trickle of bright red blood seeped from the corner of his mouth, his beautiful hair was matted with dirt, and he looked utterly wretched.

Despite having ascended to Red Rank Male just last night, his power greatly enhanced, Yan Lie showed no intention of fighting back against Zhu Xiu’s vicious assault. He was only passively blocking and had already taken several solid hits.

Nearby, Chou Rong, Xin Feng, and Yin Ze stood by, their expressions grim. Yet, none of them moved to intervene, merely watching in silence.

The cubs were held back at the edges. A few of the older ones tried to shield their younger siblings, but the littlest ones were terrified, their wails heart-rending.

Zhu Xiu’s dark, slitted pupils were cold, blazing with a terrifying fury. He gathered his power again, about to swing at Yan Lie, who was struggling to get back on his feet.

"Stop!" Bai Wanwan cried. Without bothering to change, she snatched a nearby dress, threw it on, and raced downstairs.

She shot into the clearing like a gust of wind and, just before Zhu Xiu’s fist could fall, threw her arms around his muscular waist from behind, using her own body to block him from Yan Lie.

"Zhu Xiu! What are you doing?" she demanded, both frantic and furious, her voice trembling. "Why are you being so brutal?"

Zhu Xiu’s movements froze the moment he felt the familiar, soft body pressed against his back.

He turned to see Bai Wanwan’s pale, frantic face. His brow furrowed, and his deep voice rumbled with overwhelming, suppressed rage. "You’re defending him?"

"I..." ’He beat Yan Lie like that. Shouldn’t I be defending him?’

Xin Feng sighed from the side. "Zhu Xiu is angry that Yan Lie had no self-control and wore you out all night, especially since you just gave birth."

’They had tacitly approved. Yan Lie was impulsive and acted on a whim. If he wasn’t taught a lesson, Wanwan would be the one to suffer.’

’Besides, they all knew Yan Lie had advanced to Red Rank. Zhu Xiu hadn’t even shifted into his original form; this was just a minor punishment. That was why they hadn’t interfered.’

"Ahem..." Bai Wanwan hadn’t expected that to be the reason. A blush instantly bloomed across her cheeks, a mix of embarrassment and anxiety.

Her heart ached as she looked at Yan Lie, slumped on the ground nearby. Blood was still trickling from his mouth, yet he was looking at her with a goofy grin, as if to say, ’I’m fine.’

She quickly shook her head, casting her shyness aside. Tightening her grip on Zhu Xiu’s arm, she said, "He didn’t force me! It... it was me... I forced him!"

Zhu Xiu’s tall frame went rigid, and he froze completely. "What did you say?"

Her reflection was stark in his cold, slitted pupils, but his anger only intensified, believing she was just saying it to protect Yan Lie.

Bai Wanwan gently shook Zhu Xiu’s arm, her voice softening. "It really was me... The cubs are all watching. We’re terrifying them. As for the reason... I’ll explain everything to you properly later, alright?"

Xin Feng understood that there was more to the story.

Seeing that Zhu Xiu’s expression hadn’t softened, he added, "Don’t dwell on it. Just ask Wanwan when you have a moment."

By then, Bai Wanwan had already turned, walked over to Yan Lie, and knelt down to help him up. "Come on, get up. Are you badly hurt?"

Her heart ached as she looked at the bruises and bloodstains on his body.

Yan Lie immediately leaned his large frame against her slender shoulder, as if he’d found his ultimate support. Though grimacing in pain, he forced a smile, his voice hoarse but wheedling. "It’s not serious, just a little sore... If Wanwan gives me a hug and a kiss, it won’t hurt anymore."

The moment he spoke, Bai Wanwan keenly felt the aura around Zhu Xiu drop several degrees. The dangerous red light in his slitted pupils became almost tangible.

Yan Lie noticed it too, of course, but instead of backing down, he tightened his arm around Bai Wanwan’s waist.

Bai Wanwan felt a major headache coming on. She quickly and discreetly patted Yan Lie’s arm, a gesture that was both a warning and an attempt to soothe him.

Yan Lie got the signal and contentedly relaxed his grip, though the grin on his face stretched even wider, as if his injuries were nonexistent.

At that, the terrified cubs, seeing the fight was over, finally dared to creep closer, led by their older siblings.

Their eyes were all red and puffy from crying, like little rabbits, as they looked worriedly at Father Beast Yan Lie, who was still smiling even with blood at the corner of his lips.

"Father Beast Yan Lie, does it hurt?"

"Father Beast, let me blow on it..."

"Father Beast, you’re bleeding..."

The cubs’ soft, tear-filled words of concern warmed the heart of Yan Lie, who a moment ago had been intent only on clinging to Bai Wanwan.

He looked at these cubs, nearly all of whom he had personally fed and raised, and an indescribable warmth filled his eyes.

’So spoiling these little rascals wasn’t a waste after all! They know how to worry about me now!’

He broke into a wide, carefree grin meant to reassure the cubs, and his voice softened. "Be good, don’t be afraid. Your Father Beast is a Red Rank Male now! What’s a couple of hits from my own brother? I’ll be all better in a little bit."
