Chapter 528: Chapter 525: She Can Save Him

"Ahem, I can do it myself."

She quickly lowered her head, tugging her damp, rumpled clothes back into place in a few swift motions, trying to hide her overly conspicuous curves.

Jin Yi took a deep breath, forcing himself to pull back completely from the daze of passion he’d just been in.

Almost instinctively, he took a step to the side, using his own tall, sturdy frame to completely block Yan Lie’s searing gaze—a look so hot it seemed ready to spew fire—from falling on Bai Wanwan.

Yan Lie immediately snorted in displeasure. He raised a long eyebrow, his tone dripping with jealousy. "Hey! You get to sneak a bite, but I’m not even allowed to look at Wanwan?"

His expression seemed to accuse Jin Yi of hogging all the good stuff.

Taken aback by the jab, Jin Yi gave a soft, deliberate cough. His eyes flicked to the area behind Yan Lie as he said in a warning tone, "Don’t mess around! There are plenty of other males behind you."

Although they had warned the other Beastman males earlier, gazes were still being cast over from all directions.

The moment Yan Lie heard that, his expression immediately grew more serious.

He instantly suppressed the jealousy in his heart and strode forward to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with Jin Yi. Like two insurmountable mountains, they stood side by side, completely shielding Bai Wanwan in their safe shadow and blocking all possible prying eyes.

But he was still simmering with frustration.

’This chance to be intimate with Wanwan should have been mine.’

’Too bad my two cubs clung to me and ruined it.’

Taking advantage of the moment the two men were blocking the view, Bai Wanwan straightened her clothes as quickly as possible.

The presence of the two males behind her was overwhelming. Even though their backs were to her, their searing gazes, filled with different emotions, seemed to bore through the air, making the skin on her back tingle with heat.

She did it all while practically holding her breath.

"I’m done..." Having composed herself, her expression returned to normal.

Jin Yi had already composed himself, returning to his usual calm and dependable demeanor. But on closer inspection, one could still see his clenched jaw and the faint blush that hadn’t completely faded from the tips of his ears.

He stepped aside, his eyes quickly scanning her now-neat clothes.

Yan Lie, however, crossed to Bai Wanwan’s side in a few large strides. He very naturally reached out, hooked her little finger with his, and gave it a gentle swing.

He leaned in slightly, his hair brushing against the pink shell of her ear, and whispered in a breathy tone only the two of them could hear, a voice mixed with anticipation and a hint of wheedling:

"Wanwan, next time... I want to ’sneak a bite’ too." He deliberately stressed those words. "Okay?"

Bai Wanwan twisted her hand and gave the inside of his firm arm a pinch that was neither light nor heavy. She glared at him with her alluring, almond-shaped eyes.

Far from feeling any pain, Yan Lie actually seemed to enjoy her glare. He grinned. "Wanwan, okay?"

"Sneak what bite? Can’t you just do it out in the open?"

Yan Lie immediately complained in a low, aggrieved tone, "Hiss... Wanwan, you’re playing favorites! Jin Yi gets to do it."

Just as he was speaking, a huge commotion erupted from the crowd gathered on the riverbank ahead. Many Beastmen swarmed over in a panic, and the panicked cries of females could be heard amidst the noisy chatter.

Bai Wanwan looked up and saw that something was wrong up ahead.

But she wasn’t in the mood to be a busybody. Her cubs were still with Shi Hua.

She tugged on Yan Lie’s arm and said, "Quick, go get our cubs and Shi Hua and bring them here!"

’First, I need to make sure my own group is safe.’

Yan Lie dropped his playful demeanor and immediately turned to gather the young cubs who were playing in the water.

The cubs followed Shi Hua, climbing onto the bank one by one.

Bai Wanwan, still worried, did a head count herself. Only after confirming that none of her or Shi Hua’s cubs were missing and that they were all safely gathered around her did she finally relax a little.

Just then, she clearly heard an anxious shout from the center of the crowd: "It’s no use! This cub isn’t going to make it! Its breathing is getting weaker. Quick! Send it back to the Clan Witch!"

The words had barely fallen when the heart-wrenching wail of a female rang out. "What do you mean, he’s not going to make it? My cub! My cub! He was fine just a moment ago, playing in the water... How could this happen?"

The female’s panicked sobs carried over, finally capturing Bai Wanwan’s full attention.

Some of the people nearby tried to comfort her, but mostly there was just chaos.

A strong male snatched the limp, seemingly unconscious little cub from the female’s arms and said urgently, "Stop crying, there’s no time to waste! I’m fast, I’ll take him back!"

Jin Yi had already strode to the front of the crowd and asked in a grave voice, "What’s going on?"

When the male holding the cub saw it was the Young Clan Leader, he quickly stopped and reported anxiously, "Young Clan Leader! I don’t know what happened. The cub suddenly collapsed and started convulsing, and then he just stopped moving. His breathing is so faint you can barely feel it. We have to get him back to the Clan Witch right away!"

Jin Yi took a step forward and carefully examined the cub’s condition.

It was a small wolf cub, about six months old. Its eyes were shut tight, its jaw was clenched, and its whole body was limp. Only the extremely faint rise and fall of its chest showed it was still alive. The situation was indeed critical.

Jin Yi’s heart sank. From the looks of it, even if they sent the cub back immediately, it was probably...

Just then, Bai Wanwan came forward. "Wait! Don’t move him yet. Can you let me take a look?"

The male holding the cub was frantic. Seeing time being wasted, he couldn’t help but want to refuse. "Bai Wanwan, it’s not that I want to defy you, but the cub can’t wait..."

However, Bai Wanwan was already by his side.

As a mother herself, she couldn’t bear to see a cub so close to death.

She immediately called out to her system in her mind, ’Hua Sheng! Scan this cub, quickly! Can he be saved?’

The system responded instantly: "Scanning... Scan complete. Host, the cub is infected with an unknown, highly potent virus. Its immune system is collapsing rapidly. Treatment is possible. You need to immediately redeem one ’Strong Immune Activation Pill,’ which costs 2000 Points. It can boost the cub’s own immunity tenfold and clear the virus in a short time."

Hearing that he could be saved, the weight in Bai Wanwan’s heart lifted. She immediately commanded, ’Redeem it now!’

"Points have been deducted. The pill has been delivered to the System Space."

Bai Wanwan immediately said to the anxious Beastmen around her, "Everyone, calm down! Put him down, and don’t jolt him!"

The Beastmen looked at each other, their brows furrowed. They clearly didn’t believe her and only grew more anxious. "Young Clan Leader! This... If we delay any longer, the cub really might not be saved!"

Jin Yi turned to look at Bai Wanwan, his eyes questioning.

Bai Wanwan met his gaze and nodded without hesitation, her voice clear and firm. "Trust me. I can save him."

Hearing her words, the other males’ faces were filled with doubt and hesitation. "Young Clan Leader, this... Even the Clan Witch might not have a solution. Bai Wanwan... isn’t this just wasting time?"
