Chapter 466: Chapter 463: A Warm Home

"It’s the absolute truth! I swear! I wouldn’t dare lie!" The Flood Dragon Male nodded desperately, his eyes frantic.

However, the flicker of curiosity on Bai Wanwan’s face vanished in an instant, replaced by an icy decisiveness.

She didn’t even spare another glance at the Flood Dragon begging on the ground, as if what she had just heard was nothing more than an irrelevant story. She spoke coolly to her Beast Husbands, "Kill him."

"Wha—" The hope on the Flood Dragon Male’s face froze, transforming into boundless terror and disbelief.

He didn’t even have time to utter a single word of defense or a curse.

"SHHNK!"

Zhu Xiu’s venomous fangs plunged accurately into his spine, injecting a fatal toxin in an instant.

His body convulsed violently a few times. His eyes, wide with resentment and malice, stared unseeingly before his body went limp, losing all signs of life as it slumped onto the snow.

The blizzard continued to howl, whipping up sprays of blood and snowflakes from the ground.

Hua Han, who had been standing quietly beside Bai Wanwan, looked at the corpse rapidly losing heat on the ground, then back at his calm partner. He finally couldn’t resist asking, "Wanwan, how can you be sure if he was telling the truth or not?"

After all, it sounded like a reasonable explanation.

Bai Wanwan’s gaze turned toward the direction the Flood Dragon Male had come from, as if piercing through the vast, swirling snow.

"True or not," she began slowly, her voice cool and clear, "I can’t be sure based on his word alone, and there’s no need to waste time here investigating. He might have been acting under orders, or he might have been trying to sow discord. He might have even just wanted to spin a story to disgust me before he died."

She paused, then turned to Hua Han and her other Beast Husbands. "In any case, I’ve already decided to go to the Flood Dragon Clan. As for the real reason? We’ll find out for ourselves when we get there."

’If they harmed the original owner of this body and now they’re coming after me, then that’s a debt I will collect. I won’t let a single one of them off the hook.’

The cold wind, still carrying the scent of blood that hadn’t completely dissipated, swirled around the dozen or so corpses of the Flood Dragon Males strewn across the white snow. The crimson was a jarring sight.

Yet Bai Wanwan didn’t even frown. "Alright, the unsightly trash has been taken care of."

She stood up, brushed the remaining snowflakes from her hands, and a relaxed smile returned to her face. She even looked at her Beast Husbands with a hint of anticipation. "Now, it’s time to get down to business."

The Beast Husbands, who had just sheathed their battle-ready edge, were all a bit puzzled by her words.

Yan Lie, shouldering the wild boar he had just hunted, asked in his booming voice, "Business? Wanwan, are we going to the Flood Dragon Tribe to settle the score right now?"

He glanced at the Flood Dragon corpses on the ground, his eyes filled with killing intent. ’They dared to target his Wife; this was the fate they deserved.’

Bai Wanwan shook her head. Her bright eyes swept over them, finally landing on Zhu Xiu’s massive serpent body. "We’re not rushing. Zhu Xiu, if you would, please go to the frozen sea over there and open up a large hole in the ice."

She then looked at Jin Yi, Xin Feng, and Yan Lie. "Jin Yi, Xin Feng, Yan Lie, you guys keep an eye on the water’s edge. Grab any fish as soon as they poke their heads out."

The claws of the Silver Wolf, Golden Lion, and Snow Leopard were all comparable to hooks; she was confident that no fish that surfaced would escape.

After Bai Wanwan finished speaking, everyone got busy.

Yin Ze escorted Bai Wanwan back to the cave, where she redeemed some hot pot base and vegetables from the System Mall.

She hadn’t eaten hot pot in a long time, and she was in a good mood today. She decided to have a feast.

’Eating hot pot on a snowy day—there’s nothing more comforting than this.’

Yin Ze placed the large pot on the temporary stove Xin Feng had built. "Wanwan, you just sit and direct. I can handle it."

"No need, I’ll do it myself."

She enjoyed the process of cooking; it made the food feel more rewarding to eat.

After stir-frying the hot pot base until it was fragrant, she added water, then put in various meat bones to simmer.

By the time the Beast Husbands came in carrying the fish and the prepared wild boar meat, the cave was filled with a rich, spicy aroma.

At first, it was a bit pungent, but the more you smelled it, the more addictive it became.

Hua Han looked at the vegetables and bones bubbling in the pot and couldn’t help but ask, "Wanwan, what is this? It smells amazing!"

Bai Wanwan patiently explained to him, "This is called ’hot pot’! It’s the most delicious food from my hometown!"

As she spoke, she skillfully prepared the ingredients: the wild boar tenderloin Xin Feng had sliced was as thin as a cicada’s wing, translucent and delicate; the Silver-Scaled Ice Fish prepared by Jin Yi had been cut into snow-white fillets with clear textures; the snow mushrooms Hua Han had gathered were fresh and plump. She placed them all into the pot.

She picked up a meaty bone, dipped it in a nearby bowl of warm water for a moment, and then held it to Hua Han’s lips. "Try it."

Even though she had deliberately used fewer spices, it was still quite intense for a Beastman trying so many seasonings for the first time.

Sure enough, less than two seconds after taking a bite, Hua Han was hissing and breathing through his open mouth.

Bai Wanwan handed him the warm water she had prepared on the side. Hua Han took a large gulp, which brought some relief.

"Don’t force yourself if you can’t eat it."

By now, her other Beast Husbands had already grown accustomed to this level of spiciness from the occasional hot pot meals she made.

The feeling of an explosion of flavor on their taste buds was very addicting for them.

"I can eat it. I think it’s delicious, I just need some time to get used to it."

He also tried eating the lotus root and potatoes.

When he ate the vegetables, his eyes lit up. As long as he endured the initial stinging sensation on his tongue, the feeling that followed was irresistibly good.

The more he ate, the more delicious it became.

Yan Lie was the most impatient. He eagerly picked up a large slice of wild boar, swished it a few times in the boiling red broth, and the meat instantly changed color and curled up, coated in an enticing, glossy red oil.

After placing the first cooked slice into Bai Wanwan’s bowl, he went back to cooking meat for himself.

Once the slice was cooked, he didn’t even care that it was scalding hot. He stuffed it into his mouth and was immediately overwhelmed by the ultimate taste sensation—numbingly spicy, savory, and with a tender texture—his face a picture of pure satisfaction. "So... so good!"

Xin Feng preferred the fish fillets. He used his chopsticks to pick up a snow-white slice, dipped it lightly into the broth, and it instantly turned semi-translucent, coated in a layer of bright red liquid.

He too placed the first piece into the female’s bowl.

None of the Beast Husbands spoke. They all quietly enjoyed the explosion of tender meat and spicy broth on their tongues, each closing their eyes in satisfaction.

Bai Wanwan was nestled in the middle of her Beast Husbands, her small bowl piled high with all sorts of delicacies they had served her.

She ate in small bites, feeling the spicy, numbing sensation dance in her mouth as a warm current spread from her stomach throughout her body, chasing away the bitter cold of the snowy plains.

The little one in her belly seemed to feel the warmth and liveliness too, and stirred gently a few times.

She looked at the scene before her: the firelight danced, the red broth boiled, steam filled the air, her Beast Husbands feasted heartily, and the cubs ate joyfully...

Laughter and cheerful chatter mingled with the aroma of food, transforming this patch of the snow-covered plains, which had just witnessed a slaughter, into a warm home full of life.

Zhu Xiu noticed Wanwan had stopped eating and was simply watching them with a smile on her face.

He knew the road ahead was full of unknowns and risks, but he would protect her and the cubs with all his might, so that she could do whatever she wanted in the future!
