Chapter 464: Chapter 461: Your Reward

Hua Han’s heart pounded like a drum. When his lips finally touched the softness he had longed for, the entire world seemed to fall silent.

The sensation was a hundred times more wonderful than his most magnificent dreams.

It was sweet and soft, carrying her unique scent that utterly captivated his Divine Soul.

He was like a dying traveler in the desert who had stumbled upon a spring, greedily drinking her in. His arms tightened unconsciously, wishing he could meld her into his very bones and blood, to become one with her.

"Mmph... Hua Han, my waist... I think my waist is going to break..." Bai Wanwan gasped, squeezed so tightly she could barely breathe. She couldn’t help but push lightly against his scorching chest.

Hua Han finally snapped out of his daze, loosening his grip slightly. But his arms remained around her, his forehead resting against hers. His beautiful, fox-like eyes were clouded with a desire so thick it couldn’t be dispersed, along with a hint of remorse.

His breathing was heavy and ragged. His gaze slid uncontrollably to her slightly swollen belly, where the child of another of her Beast Husbands was growing.

A fierce battle raged within him between intense desire and his responsibility as a Beast Husband.

Finally, he took a deep breath, forcibly suppressing the flames that threatened to incinerate his reason. He only placed another cherished peck on her lips, his voice terribly hoarse. "Wanwan, I’m sorry. I got too excited."

He carefully helped her sit on a soft animal-hide cushion, then half-knelt beside her, his beautiful, slender fingers lovingly caressing her ankle.

Bai Wanwan’s heart warmed as she watched him struggle to contain the desire still burning in his eyes.

’This fox... although he’s usually full of little schemes and loves to play pitiful to vie for attention, when it comes to her body and the child, his restraint and thoughtfulness are completely genuine.’

She leaned against him, resting in his embrace with a reassuring smile. "It’s alright. I know."

She did feel a wave of fatigue wash over her. ’Perhaps it’s because I’ve been so anxious lately. Now that I can finally relax, I feel sleepy all the time.’

Soon after closing her eyes, her breathing became even.

Hua Han couldn’t bear to move, holding her just like that, afraid to disturb her.

The other Beast Husbands, busy with their tasks, returned one by one. Though they all felt a pang of jealousy seeing her in Hua Han’s arms, they noticed his awkward, stiff posture and understood. It was clear he cherished Wanwan so much he was afraid to move a muscle.

Xin Feng stepped forward. "It’s alright, Wanwan is a heavy sleeper. Help her lie down. She’ll be more comfortable that way."

With Xin Feng’s help, Bai Wanwan was gently moved from his embrace, leaving him feeling a little lost.

Xin Feng carefully helped Bai Wanwan lie down and covered her with the light, soft down quilt she had exchanged for.

Outside the cave, the blizzard raged with increasing fury.

"It’s gotten colder outside. Tomorrow, I’ll hunt some more animals with large pelts to add another few layers over the entrance."

The Beast Husbands sat down around the bonfire, close to Bai Wanwan.

At Xin Feng’s encouraging smile, Hua Han went and sat beside him, listening as the Beast Husbands planned for the days ahead.

The firelight reflecting in his pupils made everything feel a little surreal.

’A few months ago, he was still agonizing over how he could even get close to her. Now, he was actually one of them, planning with them how to protect their female and care for their cub...’

A subtle, happy feeling began to bloom in his heart...

The severe cold of the snow season seemed to be held at bay by the Beast Husbands’ meticulous care. Dressed in her down-lined clothes, Bai Wanwan didn’t feel the chill much at all.

One day, Jin Yi returned, braving the blizzard. Ice Crystals clung to his golden eyelashes, and in his hands, he carefully cradled a strange, fist-sized fruit. It was completely translucent, as if carved from the purest ice, with faint wisps of cold mist swirling around it.

"Wanwan, try this." Jin Yi’s eyes were bright. "It’s a Snow Floss Fruit. They can only be found occasionally, in the deepest part of the snow season, tucked into the crevices of the highest mountain peaks. They’re said to be incredibly sweet—the females of the Super Tribes all fight to get one."

Bai Wanwan leaned closer to Jin Yi, her curiosity piqued. Wanting to show her appreciation, she said enthusiastically, "Really? Then I have to try it!"

Seeing her interest, a brilliant smile—a rare sight on his usually noble and reserved face—lit up his features. "Go on, try it. If you like it, I’ll go find more for you tomorrow."

An intensely crisp, sweet fragrance wafted into her nose. It was truly enticing.

But the chill emanating from the fruit made her pull her fingertips back.

Seeing this, Jin Yi immediately took action. A faint golden light glowed at the tips of his long, powerful fingers as he carefully applied pressure along the fruit’s natural seams.

With a crisp CRACK, the hard, icy shell split open, revealing flesh as smooth and white as alabaster, wisps of cold mist still rising from it. The sweet fragrance instantly intensified several times over.

Worried the chill would harm her delicate fingers, Jin Yi quickly picked up a nearby bone spoon and carefully scooped out a small piece of the snow-white flesh.

He didn’t immediately feed it to her. Instead, he cradled the spoon in his warm palm for a moment until he felt the biting chill subside slightly before bringing it to her lips.

"Eat slowly," he murmured. "It’s still cold."

Bai Wanwan took the spoonful into her mouth. The cool, sweet flesh melted instantly. Its texture was smooth and creamy, just like the finest ice cream—sweet but not cloying, with an indescribably pure, refreshing taste that immediately washed away the dry stuffiness of winter.

She closed her eyes in satisfaction, like a cat being petted.

Watching her look of pure contentment, Jin Yi’s golden eyes filled with a gentle, smiling warmth. He fed her spoonful after spoonful, patient and meticulous, as if performing a sacred ritual.

’Bai Wanwan genuinely loved the taste. It was even better than the best ice cream she’d ever had.’

"You like it that much?" Jin Yi asked with a smile.

"Yes, I love it."

When about half of it was left, she took the bone spoon from him.

"Let me feed you," he said. "It’s too cold to have your hands out."

But Bai Wanwan insisted. She scooped a spoonful, but instead of bringing it to her own mouth, she held it to his. "Open up."

’How could Jin Yi possibly eat it? The fruit was an incredibly rare find; it would be difficult enough to find more for his female.’

’If he ate this, what would she have?’

"I’ve already had some. You have..."

Before he could finish, she stuffed a spoonful of the fruit into his mouth.

"It’s delicious, isn’t it?" Bai Wanwan asked, tilting her head and smiling brightly at him.

The fruit melting in his mouth was sweet, but not nearly as sweet as the feeling blooming in his heart.

’His Wanwan was always so good to him.’

She brought a second spoonful to his lips. "Wanwan, I really..."

She stuffed another spoonful in.

Bai Wanwan sat up straight. "Jin Yi, would you mind if I let the others try some of this?"

’If it’s so precious that even females rarely get to eat it, the males have probably never even had a taste.’

"I don’t mind. But there’s only a little left. If you give it to them, there won’t be any for you."

"That’s okay. You already fed me so much. I’m full."

"Alright, then. Go ahead and share it. I’ll go find more for you tomorrow."

Bai Wanwan’s heart swelled with emotion. She turned and pressed her lips to his. "That’s your reward."

Jin Yi’s breath hitched. "I think... I’m a little hungry now."
