Chapter 345: Chapter 345: Wanwan

Bai Wanwan merely turned over in her sleep. With her back to Xin Feng, she continued to slumber peacefully.

After reaching an agreement, the males fell silent, worried they might wake Bai Wanwan.

That night, only Bai Wanwan slept soundly. The others merely managed to doze off.

When she woke and rubbed her eyes, her Beast Husbands had already finished their meal and were waiting to depart.

"Did I sleep that soundly?" Bai Wanwan murmured. She got up and washed her face with water from her System Space, which helped her wake up a little more.

"You were exhausted these past two days, so it’s good you got some extra sleep. We just woke up ourselves."

They waited for Bai Wanwan to finish eating before they all slowly set off.

"When will we reach the cliff?"

They had been walking all morning but still hadn’t reached their destination.

"Soon..."

After another hour or two, Bai Wanwan saw the steep cliffs ahead.

The path between the two mountains first led through a Stone Forest. Beyond the Stone Forest lay the cliff, which was so treacherous that even Beastmen could only traverse it in single file.

When they reached the edge of the Stone Forest, Yan Lie leaped ahead to the mountainside to scout the area.

"Nothing seems out of the ordinary. Should we cross now?" he asked, looking to the other males for confirmation.

"Wait..."

Zhu Xiu motioned for them to stop and rest for a moment.

He slithered out on his own, moving through the Stone Forest until he was near the cliff face.

After using himself as bait and performing a thorough inspection, Zhu Xiu returned to the woods.

"How was it? Any sign of trouble?"

"I really didn’t find anything. We’ll charge across at top speed in a moment."

As soon as Zhu Xiu finished speaking, Jin Yi was already hoisting Bai Wanwan, who had been resting, back onto his back.

"Let’s move."

Xin Feng took the lead, with Jin Yi carrying Bai Wanwan right behind him.

Yan Lie and Zhu Xiu followed in succession.

They formed a single file line and dashed through the Stone Forest at top speed, ensuring they wouldn’t get bottlenecked and waste time when they reached the cliff.

Bai Wanwan clung tightly to Jin Yi’s neck, her head swiveling constantly as she scanned their surroundings.

Nothing happened the entire time it took for them to successfully cross the Stone Forest.

"This is it. Everyone, be careful. You must be on high alert."

Zhu Xiu knew in his heart that if the Eagle Beasts were going to strike, this was the perfect spot for an ambush.

’If it were me, I’d choose this place too.’

They stepped onto the cliff path one by one, intending to rush across as quickly as possible.

SKREEE!

The unnerving cry of an Eagle Beast echoed up from the base of the cliff, followed by the deafening sound of beating wings.

"Quick, charge through!"

Zhu Xiu yelled to Xin Feng up ahead.

Without a word, Xin Feng sprinted along the cliff path at incredible speed.

SKREEE!

Following several more cries, sharp beaks stabbed at Xin Feng, who was at the head of the line.

But their ultimate target was Bai Wanwan, and the majority of the Eagle Beasts charged in her direction.

A long Snake Tail swept through the air. Countless Eagle Beasts flapped their wings to evade it; only a few were struck and sent plummeting off the cliff.

The path ahead was completely blocked by the Eagle Beasts, but Xin Feng charged forward with desperate resolve.

In just a few moments, Xin Feng’s body was covered in a dense lattice of wounds.

Bai Wanwan’s heart ached for him. She whipped out her laser gun and fired a shot into the dense swarm of Eagle Beasts.

The laser beam pierced through the chests of three Eagle Beasts.

The dense net woven by the Eagle Beasts finally had an opening. Ignoring his injuries, Xin Feng pushed past them on the narrow path, stumbling as he forged ahead.

But after advancing only a few steps, he was once again surrounded by the circling Eagle Beasts.

They didn’t engage in prolonged fights, only launching relentless sneak attacks.

The cliff was too narrow. The males were all Land Beasts, unable to leap and maneuver, which sharply reduced their combat effectiveness.

As they fought back, they had to constantly watch their footing.

One misstep would send them plunging into the abyss.

The Eagle Beasts suddenly changed formation, separating the Beastmen to attack them individually.

Just as Zhu Xiu noticed this and swept aside the Eagle Beasts in his way with his Snake Tail, he saw the Orange Rank Eagle Beast stretching its sharp talons toward Bai Wanwan.

The scarlet in Zhu Xiu’s eyes grew so thick it seemed ready to spill over.

"Jin Yi, protect Wanwan!"

As he spoke, he ignored the pecking of the other Eagle Beasts and shot to Bai Wanwan’s side at top speed, lunging at the Orange Rank Eagle Beast with his sharp, venomous fangs.

Bai Wanwan also aimed her laser gun at the Eagle Beast.

At that critical moment, the massive Eagle Beast’s body suddenly vanished.

Time seemed to stand still. As Bai Wanwan turned her head, gun in hand, to find the beast, Zhu Xiu suddenly shot upward and bit down hard.

The Orange Rank Eagle Beast had activated its Talent Power for a second time. Zhu Xiu only managed to bite off a mouthful of its wing feathers before the massive creature disappeared once more.

"Wanwan, don’t be scared!"

Seeing her knit her brows and scan the area, Zhu Xiu immediately tried to reassure her.

But his own senses were on high alert, watching for an attack from any direction.

The next second, the Eagle Beast reappeared. Zhu Xiu instinctively moved to shield Bai Wanwan.

But the Orange Rank Eagle Beast had appeared behind him, its razor-sharp talons, which could slice through iron like mud, thrusting straight for his spine.

Zhu Xiu sensed it and snapped his jaws at it, but he was a fraction of a second too late.

The Eagle Beast tore off a large chunk of flesh, stuffed it into its mouth, and flew back into the sky, chewing as it went.

"What a pity. I was so close to being able to rip out your guts."

Bai Wanwan remained silent, having already secretly aimed her laser gun at him.

The bloody scene from just moments ago flashed through her mind. She had been so close to losing Zhu Xiu. Her eyes filled with hatred as she pulled the trigger.

FWOOSH!

A beam of light shot toward him.

The Eagle Beast reacted with incredible speed, shifting its position instantly, but it was still a step too slow. The talon that had just torn into Zhu Xiu was instantly charred black.

This, however, completely enraged the beast. It tilted its head back and let out a long, piercing shriek.

All the Eagle Beasts went berserk, charging them with no regard for their own lives.

There were simply too many Eagle Beasts, and they were too agile. Even with Zhu Xiu’s long tail swinging relentlessly, he couldn’t stop the frenzied onslaught.

Jin Yi, focused on protecting her, couldn’t attack. He could only tuck Bai Wanwan under his stomach and endure the blows with his own body.

THUD!

THUD!

The impacts were so strong that Bai Wanwan almost lost her grip several times.

"Quick, get over here!"

Initially, Xin Feng had borne the brunt of the assault. But when the Eagle Beasts were commanded to focus on Bai Wanwan, the number attacking Xin Feng sharply decreased.

After killing the last beast attacking him, he immediately turned and called out to them.

Seeing his chance, Jin Yi immediately charged forward to follow.

But along the way, the Eagle Beasts rammed him relentlessly. He struggled to control his body and maintain his balance.

The slightest misstep, and they would fall from the cliff.

Amidst the jarring collisions, Bai Wanwan’s grip slipped several times. She tried to scramble back up, only to be knocked again by another impact.

Her arms slipped completely from Jin Yi’s body, and she plunged over the side of the cliff.

"Wanwan!"

Jin Yi was utterly terrified. He stretched out a paw to try and catch her, but it was useless.

So, gritting his teeth, he leaped down after her.

Yan Lie saw this, his eyes seeming to split with rage, and followed them over the edge without a moment’s hesitation.

"Wanwan..." Xin Feng forgot to attack, his face ashen with despair. He took a step forward.

Seeing this, Zhu Xiu leaped up, sinking his fangs into one Eagle Beast while his long tail ensnared several others, dragging them all down into the abyss with him...
