Delicate Villainess, Desperate Males – A Beast World Reverse Harem
Chapter 181: Fooling Jin Yi
Chapter 181: Chapter 181: Fooling Jin Yi
Jin Yi looked at the female before him. She was breathtakingly beautiful, her skin as fair and soft as snow. Emphasized by her simple long dress, her slender waist looked as if a mere gust of wind could snap it.
Realizing where his thoughts had drifted, he frowned and pulled himself together. "The Clan Leader asked me to bring you some supplies." He stepped aside, signaling the males behind him to carry the chest forward. It was quickly placed in front of Bai Wanwan.
Jin Yi’s gaze swept over her face. Seeing that she had no intention of opening it, he took the initiative to step forward and lift the lid. Inside was a shimmering Jue Sha Skirt, a dazzling Gemstone Necklace, and a delicate head ornament. Even the most favored females in the tribe might never get their hands on such treasures.
Jin Yi turned his eyes back to Bai Wanwan’s face. The corners of her lips were slightly curled upward, but her eyes remained utterly tranquil. He couldn’t help but feel a growing curiosity about this female’s identity. A female from the Black Dog Tribe should rarely—if ever—see such things. Yet, he could tell she wasn’t particularly excited.
"Since the Clan Leader sent such valuable items, is there something he needs our help with?" she asked. The smile on her face slowly bloomed like a spring flower, breathtakingly captivating.
Several males from the Golden Lion Tribe didn’t dare to look at her any longer. Their hearts pounded wildly, and their ears instantly turned red. Jin Yi remained composed, though he frowned slightly. He felt that this female was far too beautiful. It wouldn’t be long before every male in the Golden Lion Tribe knew of Bai Wanwan’s existence, which would likely bring about a lot of trouble.
Meeting her eyes, he replied, "There is nothing we need your help with. This is merely a gift for an esteemed guest." Jin Yi knew exactly what it meant for his Father Beast to let this female named Bai Wanwan stay in this stone house. There was absolutely no way his Father Beast had asked him to deliver these items without an ulterior motive.
Bai Wanwan was a bit surprised. Since the Golden Lion Young Clan Leader explicitly said they were gifts requiring nothing in return, why would she turn down free items? Thus, her smile grew even brighter, her eyes rippling like water. "Then I thank the Clan Leader for his gift. To show my gratitude, I will also present a gift to the Clan Leader as a small token of my appreciation."
With a flutter of her skirt, she turned and went into the house. A short while later, she emerged carrying a stone basin containing two dozen potatoes. Smiling brightly, she held the basin out to Jin Yi. "This fruit is called a potato. It only grows in harsh and barren lands, making it incredibly rare and precious. I only managed to get a little bit, and I’m sharing half of it with you."
Jin Yi looked down at the remarkably ordinary-looking fruits in the stone basin. He had genuinely never seen them before. When he looked up again, he caught a fleeting glimpse of slyness in her eyes. Picking up a potato, he asked, "Rare and precious?"
Bai Wanwan nodded, raising a brow with absolute confidence. "Yes. Have you seen it before?" She had grown them herself. Even if there were similar crops in the Beast World, they couldn’t possibly be identical.
An imperceptible smile touched the corners of Jin Yi’s eyes. "I haven’t. Thank you." He took the stone basin filled with potatoes and handed it to another male.
"This fruit can’t be eaten raw. You have to toss it into the fire and roast it until it softens, then you can eat it straight away. It tastes even better dipped in a little salt," she explained.
"Understood," Jin Yi said.
She thought to herself that if anyone ever asked about it in the future, she could honestly say she hadn’t taken the chest of gifts for nothing—she had given a basin of rare fruits in return! Fortunately, Jin Cang Clan Leader had sent Jin Yi with this chest of items without intending to demand anything from Bai Wanwan; he simply wanted Jin Yi to leave a good impression on her. Otherwise, he would have ended up being completely swindled by his own son and Bai Wanwan working together.
"By the way," Jin Yi said, turning back around as if suddenly remembering something. "How long do you plan to stay in this stone house?" Since it was their territory, it was perfectly reasonable for him to ask.
"If we leave early, it won’t be until the warm season next year. If we’re delayed, probably not until the Yan Ji..." Bai Wanwan answered truthfully.
Having gotten his answer, Jin Yi smiled and nodded. "Then I hope you enjoy your stay in the Golden Lion Tribe." With that, he led the Beastmen away.
As Jin Yi departed, the smile on Bai Wanwan’s face slowly faded. The Young Clan Leader had clearly been hinting at something earlier, but he seemed to have changed his mind midway. She couldn’t figure out the intentions of this father-and-son pair. In any case, as long as they didn’t provoke her, everything would be fine. If they did, she wouldn’t mind dragging the entire Golden Lion Tribe down with them.
Jin Yi had indeed changed his mind. Delivering the supplies in person today, per his Father Beast’s wishes, had been an excuse to test this female. He could easily tell that the gaze she directed at him held nothing more than simple appreciation, completely devoid of the possessiveness typical of other females. So, once she stated she would leave by the warm season next year, Jin Yi entirely dismissed all the plans he had formulated. Since she had no intention of staying and cooperating with his Father Beast, there was no need for him to target her.
"Wanwan, was that the Golden Lion Young Clan Leader just now?" Shi Hua had been completely spaced out the entire time, only snapping out of it when Jin Yi was already far away.
"It looks like it." Bai Wanwan lifted the Jue Sha Skirt from the wooden chest, admiring its lightweight and vibrant fabric.
"It’s so pretty!" Shi Hua praised sincerely, having never seen such a beautiful dress in her life.
"It really is. You’d definitely look gorgeous in it." Bai Wanwan held the dress up against Shi Hua to measure it.
Shi Hua actually wasn’t bad-looking; her facial features were just a bit plain. Wasn’t there a popular saying in modern society? There are no ugly women in the world, only lazy ones. In Bai Wanwan’s eyes, Shi Hua had a great natural foundation. She had a full, voluptuous figure without looking bloated. With just a little dressing up, she would be much prettier than most females.
Shi Hua hastily waved her hands. "This was a gift from the Young Clan Leader to you. I can’t take it."
Bai Wanwan laughed. "If it’s given to me, it’s mine, which means I can give it to whoever I want. Besides... we’ll have plenty of dresses to wear in the future." Their days were only going to get better.
"Even so, I can’t wear it," Shi Hua insisted.
Bai Wanwan glanced at her swelling belly. "True, you can’t wear it right now. We’ll both wear pretty dresses together after you’ve given birth to your cub. I’ll put it away for now." She carefully folded the dress back in and carried the chest inside.
"We’re having barbecue for lunch! Come help me prep the skewers, Shi Hua."
Bai Wanwan headed inside to prepare the ingredients while Shi Hua practically drooled at the sight of the potatoes. On their journey to the Golden Lion Tribe, Bai Wanwan had roasted potatoes for Shi Hua to try. Shi Hua had absolutely loved them, leading Bai Wanwan to figure that the tastes of the females here should be fairly similar. There were indeed no potatoes in the Beast World. Since they were delicious and rare, didn’t that make them precious?
"Wanwan, these fruits are so precious... are you sure we should eat so many all at once?" Shi Hua said, swallowing hard. Honestly, she felt the dresses were practically useless; they were far better off saving those fruits for a few more meals.
Thinking about what she had just said to Jin Yi, Bai Wanwan couldn’t help but laugh out loud. "You literally watched me grow them. How precious can they be? When we run out, we’ll just plant more."
Shi Hua had indeed watched her grow them, but no other Beastmen knew how to do it—only Wanwan did. So, in her mind, these fruits were still incredibly precious.
Just as Bai Wanwan finished peeling the potatoes and was about to prepare the rest of the ingredients, she heard Yan Lie calling from the backyard. "Wanwan..."
