Destroying the clones had triggered the attack instead of stopping it! With nowhere to retreat, he gathered his psychic power as the first explosions went off.

The soldier emerged from the explosions, a barrier of psychic power having protected him just in time. Shuriken struck its surface as he forced his way out of the rubble, unwilling to stay there for another attack. He kept the barrier up until the last blast faded, glaring toward Kagehisa. His side still hurt, and blocking the explosions hadn’t undone the damage from that first spear attack.

He pressed his hands tightly together and expanded his aura in every direction, pushing Kagehisa and his ninja away. Only then did he notice that most of his soldiers were already dead. That baldy had utterly crushed them.

"You damn bastards, you’re all so useless!" he roared. "Inhibitor: Release!"

RUMBLE!

His aura exploded, thunder surging from his body as he charged toward the nearest ninja, Ren. The sudden increase in speed caught Ren off guard. He had barely started moving when the soldier was already in front of him!

The young man’s eyes widened as a fist struck what appeared to be his stomach, only for his body to turn out to be another decoy. Ren had slipped away at the last moment, leaving the soldier’s fist to smash through it instead.

However, he hadn’t gotten far enough to relax.

"Oh no, you won’t escape!"

He smashed the ground, disrupting Ren’s veil of illusion and revealing him nearby. Ren tried to move again, but the soldier turned toward him immediately. A powerful kick struck him in the stomach, sending him flying into a tree.

CRAAASH!

"Ugh?!"

The impact shook its branches, and Ren dropped to the ground before he could steady himself. He tried to push himself up, struggling to catch his breath. This time, there was no decoy to take the hit for him.

"REN!!!"

"BASTARD!"

Hinata screamed in panic, while Goki charged without hesitation. He drove his massive fists forward, unleashing a devastating series of explosive attacks. He couldn’t let the soldier go after Ren again, not while Ren was still trying to get up. Goki stepped into his path and kept punching, forcing him to deal with someone who could actually take a hit. Or at least, that was what he had expected.

BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!

"Hmphh!"

The Super Soldier was stronger, tanking the hits before driving his fist down against Goki’s forehead. Goki had seen the punch coming, but he was still in the middle of his own attack. He couldn’t pull back in time. His head jerked down, and his next punch missed as the soldier forced him off balance.

Goki was immensely tough and powerful, yet this man had overcome his endurance like it was nothing. Those punches should have at least made him back off! Instead, he was still standing right in front of Goki, ready to follow up.

CRAAASH!

"Ugh?!"

Goki groaned as he saw the polearm coming toward his throat. He kicked the soldier in the chest, making him stagger, then used his clone jutsu to avoid further direct combat. The clones spread out as Goki moved away, giving the soldier several targets instead of one. He hated having to retreat, but trading more punches with that man would only get him killed. He needed an opening, not another hit to the head.

At the same time, Hinata summoned a giant white serpent, which hissed ferociously at the soldier and spat poisonous fog around him. She glanced toward Ren before turning back to the fight. Goki had bought her enough time to summon it, and she wasn’t going to waste that chance.

"Yamata-No-Orochi’s First Head! Attack!"

The serpent lowered its head toward their enemy, opening its jaws as more fog poured out. Hinata pointed straight at the soldier, still furious about what he had done to Ren.

"SHYAAAAAHHH!"

"What, you can bring some little pet?"

The Super Soldier scoffed, ignoring the poison entirely as he seemed immune to it. The fog didn’t slow him down at all.

"Don’t make me laugh!"

He walked straight through it before Hinata could order the serpent to pull back, then kicked the massive snake under the chin and blew its head off with his psychic power-enhanced martial arts.

SLAAASH!

"?!"

Hinata stared as her summon fell. She had expected the poison to at least keep him away, but he was already coming toward her.

"You’re nothing to me. This is the strength of Claymore... bastards!"

With a sickening smile, he knocked Hinata down with a slap, then thrust his polearm through her right leg, drawing blood.

"Aaaahhhhhh!" She tried to move away, but her injured leg wouldn’t support her.

Her hands pressed against the ground as she dragged herself back, looking for enough room to escape. The soldier stayed right in front of her, still holding his weapon. He wasn’t even in a hurry to finish the fight.

"You’re going to suffer... Hahah...!"

The sadistic Super Soldier laughed as Kagehisa’s eyes snapped open. He couldn’t believe he’d lost consciousness. Hinata’s scream was the first thing he recognized, and he turned toward her before he had even managed to get up.

He saw her on the ground, the soldier standing over her, and reached for his spear. How long had he been out?! He had been fighting that bastard just a moment ago, and now Hinata was the one getting hurt!

That powerful psychic shockwave had been too strong, and he hadn’t taken the fight seriously. He had lowered his guard instead of placing a spirit ward over his head. He knew how to protect himself from attacks like that, yet he had failed to do it when it mattered.

Beating the soldier around had made him careless. He had thought he could keep attacking without worrying about a counterattack, and his companions were paying for that mistake. Kagehisa tried to stand, furious with himself for letting it happen.
