Chapter 398 Ninjas VS Genetically Engineered Super Soldier

Seeing Kagehisa fighting so much put Goki and the rest of his retainers in awe, they admired his great strength, almost cheering for him.

"Whoa! Kagehisa-sama is in a rush today!" Goki said. He watched Kagehisa cut through the remaining Undead, barely finishing one attack before starting the next. "Is he even going to leave anything for us?"

"I’ve never seen him this dedicated and inspired before," Ren noted. Kagehisa’s smile hadn’t disappeared, but he wasn’t stopping to enjoy himself either. Whenever the King tried to regain some distance, he went straight after him.

"He’s grown a lot! But he’s eager to be seen as more of an equal to Riven...!" Hinata said. "I think he’s a little jealous of Vladimir, since Vladimir’s always accompanying Riven everywhere. Kagehisa feels left out as his subordinate..."

Noticing Hinata and the rest of the ninja retainers talking about him, Kagehisa got a little annoyed.

"Oi, Hinata! Stop messing around!" Kagehisa roared angrily, his face turning red with embarrassment. "What sort of nonsense are you spreading?!" He could hear her perfectly well, even while fighting, and that only made it worse. She was saying it right in front of everyone! He shot her an annoyed look, but there wasn’t much he could do about it with his spear still in hand and enemies nearby.

As the last dungeon boss perished, a group of soldiers charged at Kagehisa. He turned back toward them, his argument with Hinata interrupted before he could say anything else.

They rushed past the fallen monster with their weapons raised, shouting over one another as they approached. Apparently, watching him defeat the boss hadn’t convinced them to stay away.

If anything, they looked even angrier now that it was dead.

"You will die today, you terrorist scum!"

"How dare you attack us like this!"

"Ninja?! Are you from some Hidden Village?!"

"We’re under the Yokai Guild’s jurisdiction! We don’t need to..."

"Yokai Guild, huh?" Kagehisa asked. "I happen to fucking hate those guys, though." His embarrassment gave way to irritation as soon as he heard the name. The soldier had said it as if that alone would make him stop, but Kagehisa had no intention of lowering his weapon. He faced the approaching group, waiting to see whether they had anything else to say.

"?!"

The soldiers gasped as they pointed their weapons at him. Several slowed down, no longer looking quite as eager to be the first to reach him. Their commander, a member of the Super Soldier program, scoffed while holding a glowing silver polearm.

He stepped ahead of his men, keeping his eyes on Kagehisa rather than the fallen boss. Unlike the others, he didn’t seem interested in arguing about the Guild anymore. He gripped his weapon with both hands, ready to attack.

He was a handsome young man with short, spiky silver hair and bright yellow eyes.

"Hmph! Who cares what you think or want?" he asked, pointing his weapon at Kagehisa. "I’ll make sure you and your little group suffer for what you’ve done! CHARGE!"

The Super Soldier blurred forward, exuding a massive aura of psychic power. The soldiers followed his command, spreading out behind him so Kagehisa couldn’t simply run past them.

Their commander reached him first and swung his polearm, unleashing a gigantic cleaving attack that cut through the forest behind Kagehisa.

SLAAASH!

RUMBLE!

Trees split along the path of the attack, their branches crashing down as the soldiers hurried to avoid them.

The commander had aimed straight at Kagehisa, leaving no room for anyone else to get close. For a moment, the men behind him stopped advancing, trying to see what was left of their target.

"?!"

However, Kagehisa himself hadn’t been cut. What they had mistaken for his body turned out to be a mere log with a scroll attached to it.

Good old Replacement Jutsu.

"Where did he...?!"

Before he could move another centimeter, Kagehisa unleashed his Demonic Spear Art, Kishin-Enbu: Demon God Waltz, creating a massive vortex behind the Super Soldier and wrecking his left side.

The commander tried to turn toward him, but his polearm was still facing the log. He had put so much force into that attack, only to leave himself open! By the time he realized where Kagehisa actually was, the spear was already coming at him.

BOOOMMM!!!

"Kuuuaaaggh?!"

The Super Soldier, as strong as an S Rank, had completely underestimated Kagehisa. He was sent flying and crashed into a nearby building, breaking through the wall before he could stop himself.

Pieces of the wall fell around him as he tried to get back up, still gripping his polearm. He had expected to finish the fight with a single swing, not end up being the one knocked away.

He vomited blood and looked down at the huge wound in his side. Broken ribs, an injured stomach, the whole package. Even breathing hurt and moving his arm only made it worse. He tried to steady himself against the rubble, but there was no time to check how much damage he had taken.

And Kagehisa did not let him rest, charging forward and splitting into dozens of clones that aimed their spears at him. They came from different directions, stepping over the rubble and closing in before he could get out of the building.

The Super Soldier looked from one to another, trying to find the real Kagehisa. They all carried the same spear and moved without hesitation, giving him nothing to work with. He would have to take them all down.

"You kidding me?!"

The Super Soldier roared, spinning with his polearm and destroying every clone. A faint smile appeared on his face as their bodies broke apart, only to disappear a moment later. Something was wrong.

Instead of vanishing harmlessly, the destroyed clones burst open around him. He had barely finished his swing when he noticed the shuriken, and his polearm was in no position to block them all.

The clones exploded, firing dozens of explosive shuriken that pierced his skin and armor before detonating in a series of blasts. He tried to step back, but there were more coming from behind him.
