BOOOMMM!!!

A massive explosion ensued, but to Guinevere’s disbelief, her divine spear once more missed her target by a hair’s breadth, which made absolutely no sense at all the more she thought about it. The weapon had never failed her like this before. The tracking data had been clean, the trajectory perfect, yet the result was the same as the previous attempt.

"This is ridiculous and preposterous, how am I missing again?!"

Rose crossed her arms in annoyance, leaping out of the Magitech car and seeking her son’s scent. "Elias? ELIAS!"

She kept sensing a faint scent coming from somewhere in the rubble. She was confident her son would be alive, he was a vampire after all, their regeneration was second to none and so was their survivability. The smell was weak and mixed with dust and blood, but it was still there, and that was enough for her to keep moving.

She ran into the crater and dug with her bare hands, dozens of soldiers gathered around her while the rest continued moving toward the cave that led underground where the dungeon last boss should be. Dirt and broken concrete piled up quickly as she tore through the debris without caring about her own appearance.

"Elias! Elias!" she cried. "Don’t worry, mommy found you! Elias- Eh?"

Her hands suddenly stopped when they brushed against something unexpected beneath the rubble.

Rose’s face twisted in disbelief as she dug from the ground. What she found was a few tiny pieces of red crystal, with burnt flesh still attached to them. There was also an eyeball there, matching her son’s color exactly.

"..."

Her eyes widened for a moment as her entire body cooled down even more. The boy she had pampered all her life with her husband, the brilliant child who had been born as strong as B Rank from birth and who had risen to A Rank not long ago after they invested so many resources into him, was reduced to this.

He was... this was what was left of him.

"E-Eh?"

She couldn’t believe it. The crystal and the eyeball that still carried his scent were remains of him. The red crystals were fragments of his core.

How could a vampire survive without their Blood Core?

Without a shred of a doubt, the boy was dead.

"N-No, no, no, no! NO!"

She screamed in horror and started digging deeper and deeper into the ashes and the soil. Her nails broke against the hard ground as she kept searching. All she found were fragmented pieces of metal and wires everywhere, belonging to her son’s favorite toy, that huge machine he had always played with.

"No... My... my baby... Elias...! ELIAAAAAS!!!"

As she screamed in anger and sorrow, Guinevere heard her from the distance. She narrowed her eyes while listening to Rose’s screams carry through the air.

"So he’s dead...! How? They killed that vampire boy? Wasn’t he A Rank?" she asked the soldiers around her.

"Affirmative, Lady Guinevere, he was..." muttered a soldier standing by her side. "This means we’re not dealing with an average activist... as if the destruction caused wasn’t already clear enough."

"I’ll be going on my own. You hurry and follow me!" Guinevere roared. She leaped down from the higher ground and began running toward the source of the screams. The rest of the army moved right behind her without delay.

Meanwhile, inside the cave, Noir kept running faster and faster. He pushed deeper into the dungeon until a large open chamber appeared ahead. The space was barely illuminated by red crystals growing from the ceiling and the walls.

At the center of the chamber sat the dungeon’s last boss. It kept bleeding from every direction while pulsing and beating faster and faster. The steady rhythm it released filled the entire silent chamber.

"That’s the... that’s the dungeon boss?" Daniela asked in disbelief. She stopped moving and stared at the thing from afar, falling into silence as she took in the sight.

It was a gigantic heart.

Yes, a heart made of thick muscle, with long arteries that connected directly into the cavern network around it. Its arteries and blood vessels expanded as fleshy things all around the walls, ceiling and the floor, which was flooded with red blood.

The blood slowly gathered into the ceiling, crystalizing into blood crystals, and this blood slowly burned away against the dungeon’s mana, turning into blood essence. Which then spread upward, forming red swamps that then crystalized more blood and gave birth to new life everywhere.

But this was, without a doubt, the most bizarre dungeon boss she’d ever seen in her life.

"Why... a heart?" she slowly approached it, noticing the heart was chained to the ceiling and walls. The chains looked old and heavy, dig into the muscle with each pulse. "It’s chained? Hello?"

As she talked to the heart, the heart continued beating. It seemed unable to respond or do anything other than endlessly produce blood. It was... the most bizarre "lifeform" she’d ever seen in her entire life. Just a singular organ. Pumping blood endlessly around a dungeon and biomes that formed around it.

The chains... didn’t seem to be from the boss though, someone had chained the heart there beforehand. Maybe Elias or a Claymore. Daniela looked around, noticing a small crevice behind the heart.

Could that lead to the dungeon core chamber? Of course, she was no Lord, so she could never really... never really take Riven’s place in anything.

And yet she had this mask, the Jester Mask or whatever it was called, her first dungeon conquest reward, which granted her the ability to copy one skill for 24 hours.

She looked at Riven, the list of skills was massive, what skill could help her right now as she heard the approaching footsteps from the blonde woman?

"Come on..."

She could pick a super strong skill and try to fight but... that would be useless. She can only hide. Thus...

CRASH!

"Where are you?! You cannot hide from me anymore!"

Guinevere landed in the boss chamber a second later, scanning her surroundings as she stepped into the blood swamp.
