Death Notice
Book 9: Chapter 31: Plan B Phase Two
“Cough, cough!” The boy in military uniform sat on the ground without any regard for his image, continuously coughing. His small face was pale, yet his expression remained very calm.
“Lieutenant Schrödinger, why are you not by the Major’s side?” Hans asked expressionlessly, his voice deep.
“Did you not notice the communication equipment was severely disrupted? Major Montana sent me to contact you!” Once he caught his breath a little, the boy returned to his cheeky, grinning self and looked at Qin Lun curiously. “Major Gerthard, how did you discover me?”
Qin Lun’s gaze swept over the boy’s cat ears and tail, and he felt a stir in his heart. Back on the Zeppelin Airship, the fat Major had once mentioned a Lieutenant Schrödinger with special abilities. But the Lieutenant had always been out on missions, so the two had never met. It seemed now that this delicate-featured cat-eared boy was him.
Lieutenant Schrödinger, like the Byron Tai brothers and Lieutenant Alhambra, was not originally a German soldier. He joined the Millennium Bug Organization after the war. During World War II, he was a young German orphan. After both his parents died in the war, parts of his memory were lost, and he even forgot his own name.
After the boy Lieutenant was enhanced into a Superhuman by Dr. Shahil, he gained a special ability. He had almost no combat power, but by observing himself, his body could become intangible at any time. He could perform phase movement within the area his consciousness could reach, being nowhere and everywhere at once.
This ability was very similar to the famous physics thought experiment “Schrödinger’s Cat.” Therefore, the boy took the physicist Schrödinger’s name as his own. In fact, during that dark period when hope for restoring the nation was lost, Lieutenant Schrödinger’s ability was the trump card Major Montana planned to use to defeat Alucard.
If Alucard released all the enslaved souls within his body as an Undead Army and started sucking blood again, Lieutenant Schrödinger would commit suicide, mixing his blood into it. Using his special ability, he would make Alucard unable to observe himself, thus getting lost among the numerous souls and losing his own sense of existence.
After regaining hope for restoring the nation, Major Montana abandoned the original war plan and did not mention this plan to Qin Lun. He only briefly introduced Lieutenant Schrödinger’s ability.
“Your ability is quite distinctive. However, my consciousness space is something no one can invade,” Qin Lun replied with a laugh. This was not arrogance. Qin Lun had actually only detected a dispersed wave of consciousness invading from the outside; he had not found the boy’s true body. However, an Apostle’s consciousness space was protected by the Star Void. Apart from other Apostles who also possessed the Shattered Laws, even the creator god of this world could not invade it to peek at the secrets of the Star Void.
Only after Lieutenant Schrödinger was rejected by the laws was Qin Lun able to pinpoint his specific location. With Grant’s cooperation, they subdued the enemy in one move.
“Alright then!” The boy’s cat ears twitched, and he spread his hands somewhat boredly, looking at Hans. “Captain, Major Montana sent me to inform you that due to the Vatican’s involvement, the first phase of the war was more perfect than imagined. You can abandon Plan A and directly execute Phase Two of Plan B.”
“Phase Two of Plan B?” Qin Lun raised an eyebrow, looked at the sky full of rocket trails like Firecrackers, and smiled as he spread his hands. “Is this the ‘surprise’ the Major prepared for me?”
“No, this has nothing to do with the Major’s plan. We do not have the ability to control the Vatican. This should be the Ninth Crusade that those fanatics from the Papal Chamber had long prepared!” Captain Hans said with a calm expression. “But, this is good too. At least it’s more beneficial for us. Major Gerthard, we need to split up and act separately now!”
“Mm, wish you success!” Qin Lun stepped forward, hugged Hans’s burly body, smiled, and stepped back. “I greatly look forward to the Major’s ‘surprise.’ I hope you can succeed before we do.”
“May your martial fortune be prosperous too!” Hans showed a stiff smile, waved his large hand, and led the assault team, the two female Lieutenants, and the recovered Lieutenant Luke striding into the night.
“I should go too, Major. See you later!” The cat-eared boy playfully stuck out his tongue at Qin Lun and abruptly disappeared on the spot.
“Heh, this is getting more and more interesting!” Qin Lun turned to look at Grant and Madame Monica beside him, revealing a mysterious smile.
Before this battle began, the fat Major and he had devised several combat plans. Plan B was the one with the greatest destructive power among them.
If the three major Nazi organizations wanted to realize the revival of the Third Reich, they had to destroy the current world order. Judging from the current course of history, the future world would be led by Superhumans. Therefore, before restoring the nation, they needed to kill a large number of the Allied Forces’ Superhuman powerhouses to reduce the resistance to restoration.
Hydra in Washington, the Vampire Battalion in Moscow, and the Millennium Bug’s preliminary battles in London were very successful, basically drawing the attention of the world’s Superhuman organizations to London.
In the planned Battle of London, Qin Lun and the others had to strike first, causing chaos in London and forcing all Allied Forces Superhumans to join the fight. Then it would enter the second phase: the annihilation operation, striving to kill a large number of Allied Forces Superhumans.
Looking at it now, the first phase of the battle was very successful! What was originally Plan A with low war intensity was escalated to the high intensity of Plan B due to the chaotic entry of the Vatican Crusaders.
However, the difficulty of this plan lay in how to gather the Allied Forces Superhumans and annihilate them. Superhumans were not like ordinary people. Even though London had become a fiery hell tonight, Qin Lun believed that whether it was the Avengers Alliance or the Grimm Academy, they were basically intact. A disaster of this level could hardly harm them; at most, it served to disrupt their vision.
Under normal circumstances, if they wanted to kill Allied Forces Superhumans, only Qin Lun, Hans, and the others could do it. However, Qin Lun and the others had limited power after all. Even if they concentrated their efforts to kill one or two Allied Forces Superhumans, it wouldn’t affect the overall situation. It was an unsolvable task.
Therefore, the key to this plan lay in how to enhance their own strength while weakening the enemy’s power.
Once they realized this, the answer practically sprang into the minds of Qin Lun and Major Montana. That was to make the various Allied Forces Superhuman organizations gathered in London fight amongst themselves. Only when they had internal strife could the Battle of London achieve complete success.
However, when formulating this part of the combat plan, namely the second phase, both Qin Lun and the fat Major confidently assured each other that they had a way to make the Allied Forces Superhumans turn on each other, but neither was willing to explain in detail.
In the end, it was the fat Major who compromised, agreeing to let Qin Lun command the operation specifically. But he retained one condition: if the assault team’s actions caused panic throughout all of London, with chaos spreading across the entire city, then they would execute Phase Two of Plan B.
The so-called Phase Two of Plan B differed from Plan A in only one aspect. Plan A involved all members of the assault team accepting Qin Lun’s command and only carrying out Qin Lun’s own plan.
Whereas Plan B involved splitting into two teams. Captain Hans led the armed guards to execute Major Montana’s plan, while Qin Lun and the others, plus Madame Monica, continued to execute Qin Lun’s scheme.
However, after facing Alucard in battle once and testing Hans and the others, Qin Lun had already learned the truth about the vampire’s original body being sealed. At the same time, he also knew he had lost the chance for a second showdown with Alucard.
No matter how much he looked forward to a second decisive battle with the vampire, Qin Lun did not believe he could fight through thousands of Necro attacks and slay Alucard amidst a massive army. He was a mentally ill person with a split personality, not a reckless young fool off his medication.
“Qin Lun, Montana’s plan is probably to use the River of Death released after the vampire’s seal is broken, right?” Grant asked softly in the Team Channel as they leaped swiftly across rooftops.
It was important to know that London currently gathered a large number of Superhumans, and not all powerhouses could understand a being like Alucard. When they saw thousands of bloody Undead appearing on the streets, attacking people indiscriminately, surely some powerhouses would step forward. Alucard’s infinite life essence, which essentially enslaved other souls, could not be accepted by everyone.
This way, the Allied Forces Superhuman powerhouses would automatically split into two major camps. Companions from the same organization might still restrain each other, but Superhumans from different organizations? Well, that wouldn’t go so smoothly. It would ultimately turn into a massive free-for-all.
In fact, Alucard’s Undead Army could be very vulnerable against certain Superhumans. Whether it was the Avengers Alliance or the Grimm Academy, there were some powerhouses with large-area attack abilities who extremely countered the vampire.
For example: an alien human in the Avengers Alliance – Thor! His hammer, Mjolnir, was Alucard’s nemesis. No spirit could survive under a large area of lightning!
Furthermore, certain powerhouses specializing in mental powers, such as the leader of an American civilian Superhuman organization, Professor X, possessed an ability similar to the Forbidden Scissors. And its range of effect was even larger, almost capable of instantly severing Alucard’s control over all the Necro, liberating the enslaved souls from within the vampire.
Even if these two powerhouses were not in London at the moment, most of the powerhouses at the Grimm Academy, due to years of fighting evil spirits, carried a special kind of Soul virus agent on them. They could mix the virus into the River of Death, and in a short time, they could contaminate the entire Undead Army, allowing many souls to be freed.
“Probably only part of it. That cunning fat man isn’t that simple. Although the Millennium Bug doesn’t have the ability to control the Vatican, the fact that they launched the Ninth Crusade at this time clearly has his contributions involved.
But to make the Allied Forces Superhumans truly fight others to the death, a catalyst is still missing. If I were that fat man, I would have also prepared a traitor with considerable weight. Only if a certain traitor strikes first against their companions will the situation develop in an uncontrollable direction!”
Qin Lun said with a light laugh, “But, what does that have to do with us! Whether Montana succeeds or not won’t affect our plan. In my opinion, countless landmines are already buried in London now? A traitor? Is one needed? The conflict between Apostles and Reincarnators simply cannot be reconciled. They are the natural unstable factor within the Allied Forces.”
“With just a little push, they will be like a barrel of gunpowder…”
“Boom!” Qin Lun made a fist with one hand and mimicked a Firecracker exploding gesture. “Don’t you agree, Malone, Bakh?”
“Yes, sir!” Two unfamiliar voices came through the Team Channel.
