Death Notice
Book 9: Chapter 30: Mobile Crusaders
“Miss, will freeing our master’s true body… bring disaster to London?” Thinking about Integra’s earlier hesitant behavior, Seras asked thoughtfully.
“Yes, you should know that Alucard was once the Grand Duke of Wallachia and was granted the title of Count by the Holy Roman Empire at that time. He fought against the Turkish armies of the Ottoman Empire throughout his life. After becoming a vampire, he showed no distinction between friend and foe. He absorbed all the Wallachian and Turkish soldiers who died on the battlefield into his body, becoming the most powerful vampire in history.”
Integra lit a cigar, blew out a puff of smoke, and said solemnly, “After he was defeated by my ancestor, the vampire hunter Van Helsing, his true form was sealed by the hunters. Only the head of the HELLSING family from each generation could undo the seal.”
“After the seal is broken, the tens of thousands of enslaved souls inside Alucard turn into an Undead Army that obeys his commands. Although he can control the army to some extent, he can’t manage every detail. So, wherever the Undead Army passes, nothing will be left alive. It easily harms innocent people in that area.”
Integra’s eyes flickered as she said, “For this reason, during my grandfather’s time, the HELLSING organization made a pact with the superhuman organizations of the Western world. Unless absolutely necessary, the HELLSING organization must not free Alucard’s true form.”
“When London was attacked before, I wasn’t at the headquarters, so I couldn’t free Alucard. Now, the missile attacks from outside seem to have stopped. If Alucard isn’t in mortal danger, we can’t do that. It’s also not what that person would want.”
“Is that so!” The blonde girl’s eyes sparkled as she listened. This was the first time she had heard about her master’s past experiences. “Then… Miss, since our master’s true body has always been sealed, what is the one outside…”
“Hehe, that’s just a substitute formed by Alucard’s consciousness combined with some fallen souls. However, it was truly dangerous just now. If the substitute had been killed before the seal was broken, Alucard’s consciousness would have dissipated because it lost its host.”
As Integra spoke, she herself felt a bit frightened. Britain was still a major empire during World War II, but after the war, it declined at a pace the world couldn’t understand. From the former empire where the sun never set, it had now become a complete second-rate country.
Compared to its conventional war power, its superhuman forces were even fewer. The Millennium Bug’s superhuman combat power wasn’t strong among the three major Nazi secret organizations. Yet, they just sent the Bairontae brothers, along with a group of ghouls without intelligence, and they directly captured MI7. In the end, Alucard had to come and clean up the mess.At this critical time for London, if Alucard, the trump card superhuman of the HELLSING organization, were to fall, then the British could only wait helplessly for foreign powers to save them. In the view of Integra, the head of HELLSING, this was an unacceptable disgrace.
“Boom!” Just as the two fell silent, faint explosions came from outside. The entire basement began to shake slightly.
“What happened?” Integra rushed to the surface with the blonde girl. As soon as they reached the window of the headquarters building, they were stunned by the scene outside.
“The city of London…” Integra’s cigar quietly slipped from her fingers, sparking on the floor tiles before slowly fading.
Before the two British beauties, the night sky over London was once again fiery red. This time, the area was even larger than when the Germans attacked. It was no longer limited to the inner city and the Thames estuary. It almost covered the entire 1,577 square kilometers of Greater London.
Countless combat helicopters filled the night sky like swarms of locusts. Rockets trailing long flames fell like a sudden meteor shower. The dazzling flames formed a giant waterfall of fire from top to bottom, pouring down from high above.
London was like a noble lady soaked in fiery red lava, twisting and groaning in pain, completely turning into a hell of flames. The sounds of gunfire, collapsing buildings, and cries filled the air. Countless men, women, and children hiding in their homes ran out of their burning houses, looking up in despair at the streets that had become a sea of fire.
As a bright flash of light appeared in the distance outside the window, a rocket flew straight towards them. At the same time, the deafening sound of rotor blades came from the horizon. Clearly, these unknown enemies had long targeted the HELLSING headquarters here.
“Boom!” A violent blast of wind shattered all the windows of the building.
“Watch out!” The blonde girl lunged sideways, pushing Integra down and shielding her with her own body.
“The Mobile Crusaders! It’s the Vatican’s Papal Chamber. They actually betrayed the pact at this time!” Integra pushed Seras away, stared at the prominent black background with white cross on the helicopters, her face lost all color. Unconsciously, she clenched her knuckles until they turned white.
…
“Hahaha! God’s representatives on Earth, the three great knight orders of the Crusaders… these guys are unexpectedly capable!” The fat Major kicked his legs in his seat like an excited child as he watched the scene on the big screen.
“Major, Integra will definitely free Alucard now. Should we execute the original plan?” A handsome young officer in a youth league uniform next to Montana asked boredly, cracking his fingers.
“…No, wait a moment. Major Gerthard’s performance was surprising. In their earlier battle, although Alucard hadn’t released the River of Death, he also hadn’t shown his strongest combat form.” Recalling Qin Lun’s demonic form when he had just advanced to Second Order, the fat Major was uncharacteristically hesitant.
“If we execute that plan without notifying Gerthard, I think he would definitely get angry. At the very least, he wouldn’t trust us anymore. Besides, our current goal is different from before. Before we can revive the Empire, we need every bit of strength we can get. That includes not only Major Gerthard, but also you, Lieutenant Schrödinger!”
“Communications officer, have you found Major Gerthard and the others yet?” Another high-ranking member of Millennium Bug standing next to Major Montana, Dr. Shahil, shouted towards the control panel.
“Report, we haven’t found them yet. The Vatican’s forces seem to be using strong electromagnetic interference over London. We can’t contact Major Gerthard or Captain Hans.” The communications officer at the control panel was sweating profusely and explained nervously.
“Ahh, of all times… this is a real headache!” Major Montana frowned and tapped his temple with his finger.
“Major, let me go find them. Do you have any orders to pass on?” Lieutenant Schrödinger, wearing his youth league uniform, grinned cheekily.
“You just want to get a close look at the war hell!” The fat Major said irritably, “Fine, you really are the most suitable person for the job right now. Find Gerthard or Hans as quickly as possible. Tell them the situation has changed, and they can proceed to the second phase of Plan B ahead of schedule!”
…
“Heehee, Gerthard, you made quite a scene just now. So, did you succeed?” Even on such a fierce battlefield, Madame Monica still calmly held her small parasol. Behind her were the other assault team members led by Hans and Kluge. The group was walking over from across the street.
“I didn’t succeed. Some holy man messed things up!” Thinking about the earlier fight with the Vampire, Qin Lun still felt very annoyed.
“Major, who is that person in your hand? He looks a bit familiar!” Lieutenant Lieber pushed her glasses up and widened her pretty eyes to ask.
“Hi, Lieutenant Lieber!” The handsome man being held by Qin Lun raised his head with difficulty and waved weakly.
“Lieutenant Luke Bairontae, you’re still alive!” The tomboy Lieutenant Solin, standing on the right side of the team, exclaimed in surprise.
“Haha, he was lucky. His soul and body hadn’t been completely consumed by the Baskerville Phantom yet. He managed to break free during the earlier fight!” Qin Lun handed Luke over to an assault team member next to him. “But, we’d better find a place to settle him. In this state, he can’t fight.”
“Don’t worry, Major. We’ve studied Alucard deeply and specially prepared medicine for this exact situation!” The usually silent Captain Hans motioned with his chin to a team member beside him. A Millennium Bug sniper immediately pulled out several vials from his backpack and started injecting them into the weakened Luke.
As soon as this injection containing a blood-red liquid was administered into the lieutenant’s carotid artery, his complexion improved greatly. Qin Lun couldn’t help but take a few extra glances at those vials. However, this stuff probably only works on vampires. Otherwise, Major Montana would have prepared some for him and Grant.
“Qin Lun, did you get the message?” A somewhat smug inquiry came from Grant through the Team Channel.
“I got it!” Qin Lun glanced expressionlessly at the Death Notice. Their Main Plotline had been completed with the minimum requirements. That Defense Minister Brown Lewis had been killed by Grant and the others.
“Lace should have told you about what happened on our side, right?” Qin Lun asked quietly.
“Yeah, I know! We intentionally let the few superhuman mercenaries protecting Brown here escape. We just don’t know if there were any Reincarnators among them!” Grant shrugged and laughed.
“It doesn’t matter. As long as the message gets out, it’s fine.” Qin Lun smiled meaningfully. But suddenly, his expression tightened. He turned his head and shouted sharply, “Who’s there?”
Qin Lun threw a punch towards his right side. A sharp gust of wind followed his fist, and a short figure stumbled out of the void. At the same time, Grant’s large hand perfectly clamped onto the figure’s neck. A cold glint flashed in his eyes as he prepared to exert force and crush it directly.
Even though they hadn’t fought together much, it had to be said that the combat talent of these two Serial Killers was top-tier. Even a hurried move had a natural synergy that looked terrifying to outsiders.
The others only just reacted then, looking over in shock. Only Captain Hans, looking at the figure, seemed to realize something. His expression changed slightly, and he urgently shouted, “He’s one of us…”
