Death... and me

Chapter 4172: Meet First

Chapter 4172: Meet First

What is the one thing that doesn’t seem to care about anything in existence? Abyssal Paths! Even in the Werdlem Universe, there are many of them connected everywhere, and even the black holes of the Universe seem to have no effect on their paths.

Why? According to Aby, the Abyssal Paths are somewhat similar to the Celestial Plane, or you could say Abyssal Plane, like Aby does. They don’t really exist in the same layer of reality, or plane, as the rest of the Universe, including Dimensional Realms. Dimensional Realms are still inside the same Universe, but Abyssal Paths pass through something completely different. That’s why nothing can stop them... except for other Abyssal Beasts.

It’s their Innate Ability. They can even create small worlds that can only be accessed through these paths, although these worlds would be just as dangerous as the Abyssal Paths themselves. Unless you have a way to protect yourself inside, you can’t survive for long.

That’s why Celis thought about Aby, the Abyssal Beast they released back in F956. Aby was kept in the Celestial Soul Dimensional Realm for thousands of years, and after the Future Realm was over, the twins’ group released him.

He was just a soul, so Rean obviously made a puppet for him like he did for other souls his group had met in the past. He also arranged for a Werdlem Stone that would allow Aby to absorb the energies of the world and recover his puppet’s core energy. Aby didn’t really need the puppet, to be fair. Nonetheless, it would be safer for him to have and reside in that puppet, especially since Rean made it very tough and strong. His bare soul would definitely be a lot more vulnerable without it.

Now, they need an Abyssal Path connected directly to the center of BH1, and thus, they called Aby. Aby also had a CD provided by Rean, so they always had the possibility to contact each other. It’s just that neither side ever had a need to do so in these various years after their separation.

"So, let me see if I understand. You guys need an Abyssal Path into BH1 to avoid being caught by the Werdlem Empire’s experts, right?" Aby asked through the CD after hearing the whole explanation.

-That’s correct,- and Rean confirmed it.

Still, Aby found it funny. "You bunch must have some memory issues. Did you forget? I’m only a soul of an Abyssal Beast. I told you a long time ago. I don’t have the ability to create Abyssal Paths in this state at all. So, I’m sorry, but I can’t help you. In fact, I don’t even want to, as I’m doing pretty fine since the Werdlem Empire doesn’t know about me."

Rean already expected that answer. -Of course, we know you can’t create them. However, the other Abyssal Beasts definitely can.-

Aby’s attention was immediately piqued. "Other Abyssal Beasts?! Have you seen other Abyssal Beasts?! Where?!"

Rean smiled, explaining how they ’saw’ Abyssal Beasts in the Starway of the Werdlem Empire, and also how one of them destroyed a path they were using. Naturally, Rean said nothing about the system. They never told Aby about it.

"So there are more Abyssal Beasts alive! I know we thought the Werdlem Empire probably had them, but hearing that they are really there is amazing!" Aby seemed pretty excited. "I could finally get a body back!"

-Get a body? Would you be able to push away another Abyssal Beast’s soul from its body? I was expecting you to help you get in contact with one of them instead.-

"What use would be there in asking for help? It is not like they can provide me with another body." Aby didn’t care about knowing others. "I can’t stay in this soul form forever. Every single minute I spent outside since we separated, I spent looking for ways of getting a body. I even looked for similar races to see if it was possible, but I failed pretty miserably. I almost injured my soul badly once. I’ve already accepted that my race is just too peculiar. I need a real Abyssal Beast’s Body!"

"Oh, and about being able to push the other soul away from the body, there is no need to worry. If there is one thing good about living as a soul for so many eons, it is that at least my soul grew quite strong. I can win that battle."

Rean looked at the others around him, and they nodded back before Rean returned his attention to his CD. -So... if we help you get an Abyssal Beast, would you create an Abyssal Path for us straight into the Great Void Black Hole of the Werdlem Universe?-

Aby was even more excited now. "If you get me one, I will create a hundred paths for you! ... or so I would like to say. I guess lying to you here would only make things worse later, so I will tell it straight. Creating Abyssal Paths is a hard process. Try to imagine just how overpowered an ability it would be if you could simply create an Abyssal Path to enter any place. Do you think the laws of the world would allow such a creature to exist? Everyone has their own shortcomings."

He continued. "Anyway, to create an Abyssal Path, I need an anchor."

-Alright,- Rean guessed what. -So you would need another Abyssal Beast to be at the destination.-

"Not quite," Aby corrected. "There are two types of destinations for an Abyssal Path. The first one is to Abyssal Worlds that we create ourselves. Think about these worlds as our Abyssal Beast’s own type of Pocket Dimensional Realm. For that, there is no need for an anchor as you can simply use the same Path to return to this side."

"The second one, which is the one you will need, will require a fragment of myself to be present at the exit location. That’s what we Abyssal Beasts use to connect two different points. That’s because once we enter the Abyssal Plane, we can’t really tell where we are going."

-A fragment of yourself...- Rean pondered a bit. -We would need to get this fragment of yours there. That would be difficult.-

If they could go there with the fragment, then there wasn’t a need for the fragment in the first place. They were already there, after all.

But then, Roan asked on Rean’s side. -It doesn’t matter how it gets there, as long as it does, correct?-

Rean and the others looked at Roan. From the looks of it, he had something in mind.

"Correct!" Aby confirmed. "Of course, I will need a body for it, so we will have to take care of this part first."

Roan didn’t mind. -Then we’d better meet first.-
