Death... and me

Chapter 3617: Time to Use It

Chapter 3617: Time to Use It

"Xonhei," Werkel called his attention. "Do you know where the next portal would be? Otherwise, I think we are better off forgetting the idea about finding a portal to the next region, and instead, we should focus all our energy on crossing this region normally."

Xonhei thought about what he knew. "Truth be told, I have never been to this region; I only heard about it from a senior of mine." This region looked like a grassland, surrounded by hills everywhere you looked. "He said that he found the portal inside of, and I quote, ’a nest of cheese monsters.’"

"A what?!" Everyone felt like they heard something ridiculous.

Of course, Xonhei knew that. "Don’t look at me. That’s what my senior mentioned. However, the thing he felt the most while in this place was hunger, so he firmly believes that these monsters he saw were all a hallucination of his due to how strong his hunger was. He loves cheese more than his own life, that guy."

That made a lot more sense in everyone’s minds. It is not unheard of for people to lose their heads because they are just too hungry, thirsty, and things like that. Since this place amplified those sensations, then it made sense that Xonhei’s senior was hallucinating.

"Well, this is not of much use," Rean commented. To everyone’s surprise, he was running just as fast as everyone else. "We might as well do as senior Werkel said, just focus all our energy into crossing this region normally. If we find a nest of monsters, regardless of what kind of monsters they are, then we can take a look."

"The youngster is right," Xonhei nodded. "Just be aware that this region isn’t empty. It does have these kinds of monsters... although I doubt they are made of cheese. My senior had to fight them and said he was quite injured in the process."

"But there is good news," Xonhei added. "This region is actually pretty small. At this speed, if we don’t lose our minds, we should be able to cross it normally within three days. As for the portal, I have no idea. It could be found in the next second or just as we are about to finish crossing this region."

Everyone obviously liked to hear the region was small, but at the same time, could they resist their urges for three days?

’Royer,’ Roan contacted the Spirit. ’If we put real effort into it, we can actually run twice as fast, even faster if necessary. It shouldn’t be a big deal pulling you and Elsie together. However, that also means leaving all these guys behind just as we found them. What do you think? Is it worth it?’

Royer was taken aback for a moment. Could they go twice as fast? That obviously would be the best choice if they were on their own. The problem was that this gathering of experts was made so they would have a bigger pool of knowledge about the regions. They barely entered the first one together, so would the twins’ group just abandon them this fast?

Royer very much wished to cross this region with everyone else if possible. He knows the advantages this group provides. ’That will depend on whether we can resist the urges for the next three days or not. No, three days is something Xonhei had heard about. There is no guarantee it will only take three days. It could take even more, actually.’

’Exactly,’ Roan agreed with him.

Just as they were talking, a Spirit suddenly increased his speed. "As much as I don’t want to separate from our group, I also don’t want to risk staying here for much longer. I will press forward on my own and try to cross it as fast as I can. Counting from now, I will wait four days on the other side. Then, I will join back with whoever makes it there, too. If no one appears in four days, I will simply consider you all lost to the urges caused by this place. Good luck!"

And then, he circulated his Divine Energy, Lightning ran through his core, and flashed away.

"Tch... Spirits truly have it easy. Gravity doesn’t impact their cores as much as it does to our bodies..." Werkel couldn’t help but complain. "But, I’m not an idiot. I would have done exactly the same thing in his place. Whoever can run faster, I advise you to do so."

Then, his Divine Energy circulated, and Wind Element gathered. He wasn’t as fast as the Spirit earlier, but he definitely could go faster than his group was at the moment. "I will also wait for you on the other side... If I manage to make it there." Finally, he shot ahead, too.

This team, including the twins’ group, had a total of twenty-seven individuals. Of them, twelve also used their own special movement techniques, and they accelerated, leaving the rest behind. In their minds, the same thought played: Knowledge is good, but we can only make use of it if we are alive.

The twins looked at Royer, who bitterly smiled. ’There is no point waiting anymore. Let’s just accelerate as well.’

"Grititi," Rean turned to the Camazotz Bat. "We are going to press forward. I hope you can keep up with us because we won’t wait for you."

Grititi didn’t expect to hear it from an Elemental Space Realm expert. Actually, he could have run faster if he wanted, but because of the Soul Power Bomb, he didn’t dare to go too far from the twins’ group. "Since when do I need you to worry about me? My only problem is whether you will kill me or not."

"Is that so?" Rean smiled. "Then, be a good bait and run ahead. You better increase your speed by at least twofold, or you won’t be of much use."

Grititi’s pride was challenged at that moment, even if he knew Rean was only provoking him. As if a Camzotz Bat would be slower than some weak human. "Hmph! Don’t blame me if I outrun you all. Let me see if you can truly do as you say."

He still had a lot of the blood and Divine Energy he took from those kills, and he now had the chance to use it. He circulated it all, his body turned blood red, and he stomped the ground with even more strength. Before long, his speed had indeed increased two times! The only question was how long he could keep that.

Roan couldn’t help but nod slightly. "He is still useful, it seems."

Then, Rean caught Elsie, Roan caught Royer, and Kentucky dragged Rifindio. Finally, they sped after Grititi, much to the surprise of the remaining experts.

’How can that be...?’ Those were their thoughts, but the twins’ group quickly disappeared ahead, not giving them the chance to ask it directly.
