Dao Companion Crippled, Coveters Move
Chapter 608 522: Pei Yuhang's Memories Begin to Recover, "Jin'er, Do I Have Another Junior Sister Surnamed Ye?
Gradually, his companions disappeared, leaving him utterly alone.
The Eye Ghost raised the countless eyes on his body, gazing at the bright moon in the sky as he emptied his mind.
Until, a flash of cold light, even more radiant than the moonlight and impossibly fast, pierced his chest.
"Your eyes are even more dangerous than that armored Demon. I must kill you first to ensure Master's safety!"
A cold voice rang in the Eye Ghost's ear as the sacred moonlight purified his foul bloodline.
The Eye Ghost watched his body steadily dissolve. He gritted his teeth and tried to resist, but it was ultimately futile. Finally, he spoke with a sense of release:
"You think I'm the most dangerous enemy? Then your Master has trained your judgment… very well."
Qing Yueqiu watched as the Eye Ghost closed his final eye. She coldly pulled out her sword and deactivated the Stealth Technique Bei Lingyin had taught her.
She raised her head, her crimson eyes narrowing as she looked toward the commotion coming from the forest not far away.
'Master, Yueqiu is coming!'
...
...
"This is bad, Brother Pei! Something has us surrounded!"
Nangong Jin got up, slipped on her outer robe, and grabbed the Celestial Extinction Sword. She stared intently at the wooden door of the cave entrance, as if trying to see through the thin barrier and into the all-consuming darkness outside.
With almost no hesitation, she darted to Pei Yuhang's side, her cold fingers gripping his wrist tightly.
"Brother Pei, we have to go. I made a secret exit at the back of the cave. We'll leave from there."
"Okay."
Pei Yuhang nodded. Although he didn't know what was happening, he trusted Nangong Jin completely.
He turned his hand to clasp Nangong Jin's trembling one, his warm palm enveloping her cold fingers.
The two made their way to the back of the cave. When Nangong Jin pushed aside the large boulder blocking the rear exit and a moonlit, dense forest finally appeared before them, her tense shoulders relaxed slightly, but the vigilance in her eyes did not diminish in the slightest.
'Brother Pei, no matter what, I will protect you!'
Nangong Jin felt the warmth of Pei Yuhang's hand clasping hers. She glanced up at his profile and made a silent vow in her heart.
She and Pei Yuhang moved nimbly through the dense woods, moonlight filtering through the gaps in the leaves and casting dappled shadows on them.
As they reached a stream, the tips of Nangong Jin's ears suddenly twitched—a deafening roar echoed from behind them.
BOOM—
Pei Yuhang looked back toward the source of the fiery glow and said in a low voice, "Jin'Er, that was our cave. Something blew it up."
Before Nangong Jin could say anything, her delicate nose twitched as she caught a pungent, chilling scent of decay.
'It's the Demon Race!'
"Hurry!"
She tugged on Pei Yuhang to pick up the pace, but a hair-raising cackle echoed from behind them.
The sound of flapping fleshy wings grew closer, carrying a nauseating stench of blood.
"I've found the two fleeing humans!"
Nangong Jin's eyes sharpened. With a flick of her wrist, her longsword was already unsheathed.
Moonlight flowed along the blade, tracing a tragically beautiful arc.
As she spun around, her skirt flared, and the edge of her sword precisely slit the throat of a Demon soldier. Warm blood splattered onto her pale cheeks.
However, more dark figures poured out from between the trees, their scarlet eyes glinting in the darkness.
Nangong Jin shielded Pei Yuhang behind her, her sword tip pointed straight ahead. "Brother Pei, you have amnesia and can't fight right now. You must stay hidden behind me!"
Just as Nangong Jin prepared to hold them off alone, she felt a warm hand press against her back, followed by a searing tide of Pure Yang True Qi flooding into her meridians.
Pei Yuhang's voice sounded beside her ear, filled with a resolve that could not be denied. "Jin'Er, I still have this. I can't let you fight alone!"
Nangong Jin trembled, feeling a warm power envelop her entire body.
The blade of the Celestial Extinction Sword in her hand began to glow faintly with a crimson light.
The night wind blew back her loose strands of hair, revealing eyes burning with the will to fight.
"Kill!"
A cold glint flashed in Nangong Jin's eyes as the blade in her hand hummed.
Infused with Pei Yuhang's Pure Yang True Qi, her Spiritual Power had not yet recovered, but the force of her sword strikes was as sharp as ever.
Pushing off her toes, her figure moved like a fleeting shadow, instantly meeting the charge of the Yaksha Ghost pack.
Those Demon Yaksha Ghosts had savage faces with green skin and sharp fangs. The fleshy wings on their backs stirred up gusts of fetid wind.
They wielded long, black forks, the tips of which glowed with a venomous green light, and they shrieked as they lunged at her.
The poison on these forks was infused with dense Demonic Qi. Even a High Tier Cultivator, if struck, would have to expend a great deal of energy to suppress this demonic venom!
The fork-wielding ghosts could see that the once world-renowned Celestial Extremity Sword Immortal was now weak and no longer in her prime. Otherwise, mere grunts like them wouldn't even have a chance to get close before being annihilated into dust by a single wave of Sword Qi.
"Nangong Jin, this is the perfect chance to kill you! Did the famed prodigy of the Human Race ever imagine you'd die under the fork of a Little Demon like me?!"
"Too much talk."
Nangong Jin narrowed her eyes. Raising her hand, an impossibly fast flash of cold light killed the Yaksha Ghost leading the charge.
Then, her figure moved like a phantom, weaving between the shadows of the forks. Her sword flashed like a silver thread, precisely piercing the throat or heart of each Yaksha Ghost.
Her movements were as smooth as flowing water, as if she weren't fighting, but weaving a deadly net.
SCHLICK— SCHLICK— SCHLICK!
The sound of the blade tearing through flesh rang out repeatedly. Droplets of blood flew through the air, blooming like red plum blossoms in the moonlight.
A Yaksha Ghost shrieked and pounced, but she sidestepped it. With a backhand strike, her sword thrust upward, piercing through its jaw and straight through the top of its skull!
"URGH—! How is this possible! With just mortal martial arts, you…"
One Yaksha Ghost fell with a terrible scream as Nangong Jin, swift as the wind, darted to the other side. Her sword flashed again, and another Demon's head went flying!
Pei Yuhang stood behind her, his gaze locked onto her figure.
Though he had amnesia, as he watched Nangong Jin's Swordsmanship now, he could feel its sharpness, which was almost cruel, yet breathtakingly beautiful.
'This Swordsmanship… it feels so familiar.'
'It seems…'
BUZZ—
In a daze, a few images flashed through Pei Yuhang's mind: him, standing behind two young women, demonstrating a sword move as their master.
One of the women was a younger Nangong Jin. The woman beside her was looking at him with gentle admiration.
'What was her name?'
'She was standing next to Jin'Er. Was she my junior sister, too?'
'Her name was… was Ye—'
"Ah, my head hurts so much!"
Pei Yuhang suddenly clutched his forehead, which felt like it was about to burst.
Meanwhile, Nangong Jin had dispatched all dozen or so Yaksha Ghosts. Severed limbs were scattered across the ground, and the stench of blood filled the night air.
Nangong Jin sheathed her sword and stood still, her chest rising and falling slightly, with fine beads of sweat on her forehead.
She looked back at Pei Yuhang, the sharpness in her eyes fading, replaced by a touch of gentleness.
But when she saw him clutching his head in apparent pain, she hurried over and asked softly, "Brother Pei, what's wrong? Did one of the Yaksha Ghosts hurt you just now?"
Pei Yuhang took a moment to recover, then shook his head.
"No, it's just… I think I suddenly remembered someone?"
"Someone? Who?!"
Nangong Jin frowned slightly, pressing subconsciously.
"Jin'Er… did I have another junior sister with the surname Ye?"
Pei Yuhang looked up, his gaze serious as he stared at Nangong Jin.
Nangong Jin's expression froze, and she felt as if her breathing had stopped.
'Ye Liyuan… Brother Pei was fine, how could he suddenly remember that woman!'
Just as Nangong Jin hesitated, a great skeletal horse shattered the void and descended from the sky!
BOOM—
Amidst the rising dust and smoke, the Kai Ghost, clad in black armor, swung a horse-cutting saber through the air.
"Nangong Jin, hand over the Holy Grail, and I'll spare your lives."
'A Peak Void Refining Powerhouse!'
Sensing the opponent's aura, Nangong Jin subconsciously tightened her grip on the hilt of her Celestial Extinction Sword.
'In my current state, it's impossible for me to fight a Demon of this Cultivation level!'
But even knowing she was no match, Nangong Jin still pushed Pei Yuhang back and shielded him with her body.
"Brother Pei… I'll tell you about your other junior sister later. For now… you need to go. Get as far away as you can. Jin'Er will buy you time."
"Heh," the Kai Ghost scoffed. "You think you can stop me in your completely depleted state? If you don't hand over the Holy Grail, neither of you are leaving!"
The Kai Ghost bellowed, and the skeletal horse beneath him reared up, ready to charge.
BUZZ—
At that moment, a Glazed Longsword descended with the moonlight, landing between Nangong Jin and the Kai Ghost.
When Nangong Jin saw this Glazed Sword, her pupils shrank. Instead of feeling relieved, an infinite sense of dread welled up within her.
Under the moonlight, a silver-haired young woman, like a Fairy from the moon itself, slowly descended amidst a cool, clear radiance.
She looked back at Pei Yuhang, who was behind Nangong Jin, and gave him a dazzling smile.
"Master, I finally found you… You go with Junior Martial Uncle Nangong first. Yueqiu will hold them off here!"
