Cursed Immortality

Chapter 1293: Controlled Chaos (1)

Inside the hidden treasury of the Bone Citadel, the sacrificial river continued to roar while Jacob stood before the opened passage like a silent calamity.

Countless currents of vitality, death, fear, faith, shattered Law fragments, and Undead Authority were being dragged from the battlefield above and pulled toward the endless darkness beyond the gate.

But before those currents could vanish into the prison below, a portion of them twisted, bent, and rebelled.

The Life Bane Wheel behind Jacob revolved with terrifying majesty. Its black section devoured, its white section refined, its ghostly purple section separated, and between them all, the faint incomplete Colorless Arc flickered like something that should not have existed.

Jacob’s hollow sockets burned with profound light.

’More.’

The sacrificial river screamed as another stream was stolen.

Deep within his soul, purified Soul Vitality poured in under Nyx’s guidance, as if nourishing his exhausted foundation; his lifespan rose at a frightening pace, but Jacob did not allow himself to drown in excitement.

This place was still the treasury of a sealed God. Not to mention, this opportunity was absurd, and absurd opportunities always came with absurd prices.

’With this much commotion, if this vitality belonged to the God of Hollow Undead, then he should’ve noticed by now.’ Jacob’s thoughts were icy. ’If he hasn’t, then he’s weaker than I estimated. But if he has...’

The Life Bane Wheel slowed by a fraction as Jacob’s fingers twitched. ’Then something should already be coming.’

At that exact instant, his mortal danger sense suddenly activated, and a scene of his imminent death flashed past his mind!

Jacob didn’t even have time to comprehend or mull over this absurd revelation as he instinctively moved in response to the vision he’d just seen.

Before any thought could form, his skeletal body leaned to the side, and the space where his skull had been suddenly collapsed into silent darkness. There was no sound, law fluctuation, killing intent, ripple in space, or even a shadow.

Yet a slender hand wrapped in darkness appeared where the back of his skull had just been.

The fingers were pale, delicate, and beautiful, but the darkness covering them was not ordinary shadow. It was deep, silent, and devouring, as though the hand had reached out from the underside of creation itself.

Jacob’s Eyes of Judge erupted as he was truly shocked to see his own death despite his current realm of power, and he wanted to see who had the power to end him with an ambush.

But to his shock, there was nothing, and even when his Soul Sense swept outward, he still found no trace of the assailant.

However, before he could make any sense of this, right at that moment, his mortal danger sense burned again as molten iron poured over his soul, and he had another vision of his death.

Thereafter, the pale hand did not stop after missing; it bent unnaturally, ignoring the wrist’s angle, and stabbed toward his neck with two fingers shaped like a blade.

Jacob’s gaze turned deadly cold, and without even thinking, he raised his skeletal arm.

’Clang!’

The fingers struck his cursed bone, and a sound like metal cracking echoed through the treasury. Jacob’s arm trembled, and a hairline fracture appeared across his forearm.

His eyes narrowed furiously because it was the first time someone had fractured his cursed bone with just two fingers, which meant the attacker was absurdly strong, and not just in cultivation, for her power carried something stranger.

The darkness on her fingers did not corrode his bone, nor burn it, nor freeze it; instead, it tried to erase the certainty that his arm had blocked the attack.

For a fraction of a moment, Jacob felt the event grow unstable as his mind was slightly affected and strange thoughts surfaced.

Like had he blocked? Had he failed? Had her fingers pierced through? Three possibilities overlapped, and the weakest one tried to become real.

Just then, the faint Colorless Arc on the Life Bane Wheel trembled, and the unstable event froze. Jacob’s arm remained intact as the pale hand withdrew and vanished into the nothingness again.

Jacob’s mind raced furiously as he wasn’t expecting to encounter an enemy that he couldn’t see or preserve, and when he thought about the dangerous power she controlled, he was even more alarmed.

But because of this exact reason, the list of his enemies that could’ve possessed such unique power narrowed down to just three existences, and when he also added the ability to go unnoticed by him, it narrowed down to just two existences!

Moreover, he hadn’t forgotten that terrifying event that had almost cost him his freedom, but it had also provided him with astonishing information and secrets about his enemies.

’It’s Destin Saint and the Heir of Chaotic Darkness!’ Jacob instantly concluded as a chill ran down his spine.

Because Destin Saint had provided Alexandra with terrifying artifacts specifically to hunt him: the Cloak of Occult and the Fateless Celestial!

Right now, he was certain that it was Alexandra wearing the Cloak of Occult to hide her existence.

But what made him slightly confused was why she wasn’t using the Fateless Celestial. Moreover, last time, when they ambushed him, his Mortal Danger Sense didn’t trigger, but now it was working just fine.

’Could it be...’ Jacob’s eyes flickered with a hint of realization. ’She’s attacking me directly instead of the Fateless Celestial; it’s not because she’s overconfident, but perhaps she didn’t have the Fateless Celestial on her at all. So, Destin Saint isn’t with her?!’

The moment that thought surfaced in Jacob’s mind, he felt a strange relief because he didn’t fear Alexandra on her own, but Destin Saint, who was behind her, for he was even more terrifying than the Immortal Nimrod.

After all, according to Destin Saint, Immortal Nimrod seemed to have lost the support of his Universal Godly Scripture, and that’s why the latter needed the Cursed One to regain control over it. As for why it was like this or how he was going to achieve it, even Destin Saint didn’t know.

But Destin Saint was different; not only did he have a Universal Godly Scripture, but he had mastered it to a terrifying level, and its power was beyond anything one could imagine.

Besides, Jacob’s biggest concern now was what Alexandra was doing with the God of Hollow Undead, and what her relationship was with the Sealed God.

But when he thought about the absent Destin Saint, another horrid thought crossed his mind, which made his burning eyes flicker with alarm: ’Don’t tell me that scheming bastard is with the God of Hollow Undead right now and plotting something with him!?’
