Cultivation Struggles of a Lowly Fox
Chapter 902 – Negotiations continue
There were too many problems with what the Fox just said.
Namely, the amount of flying ships with the Grandmaster holding his laughter in the background.
Sure, they did 'provide' one ship for the Southern Sect, but the maths was still not adding up.
Firstly, there were 3 Sects invading, most of the Sects would bring at least 2 continental flying ships. Even if they used just one, that would be at bare minimum 3 of them. Then there was the Fox Village. The Fox Villages were not quite wealthy, but because they were 'locked up' they needed a special form of transportation to get out of the Fox Village unnoticed. On average, that would be around 3 of them, but if they were stricken with poverty, that would be just one.
However, those were still a bare minimum of 4 ships and at maximum 12. There is no way the Fox Village had just one.
"How do you plan to tackle the issue of the Fox Sect?" The Southern Leader believed this was the most important part as it would decide his next turn of action.
"Why tackle it when you can ignore it?" Mei tilted her head giggling. She had no reason to visit the Fox Sect. Would their Cultivation Manuals be really good? Possibly, but one had to keep in mind that Mei was part of the Fox Sect in the past, what kind of manual she didn't read? She could just transcribe them and let the Foxes under her read them.
They didn't need to join the Fox Sect, and they didn't need to worry about Cultivation Manuals.
Moreover, Aiko, for some reason, was able to pull Cultivation Manual just by simply glaring at someone, so Mei didn't believe there would be a shortage of knowledge.
"..." The Southern Sect Leader was having a headache. This damned Vixen was clearly playing with him, but he didn't know how he should tackle this situation.
If they truly didn't even contact the Fox Sect, then there would be a war. If there would be a war, someone would have to protect the Foxes, especially this Jade Fox as she would've become the highest bidding material if she were to lose.
However, would any Sect truly take on this burden? That was impossible, merely because self-interest was on the table.
No Sect would try to shoulder this burden with no returns and the Beast Sect didn't like Foxes, so joining them was unlikely.
Thus the Sect Leader had to consider if he wanted them to join his Sect or not.
The issue of the Upper Mortal World could be postponed indefinitely, so that was not an issue. However, he would have to allocate a peak, resources and protection for them, possibly even manual.
And although it was tempting to have beautiful Foxes in his Sect, their willingness was questionable.
"Do you wish to go to war?" The Sect Leader needed as much information as possible, since he couldn't judge it out of this Fox, he had to ask directly.
"Why go to war when there is nothing to be earned from it?" Mei chuckled. Those that went to war just because, were those that lost the most when it ended as there was nothing to be earned in the first place.
And those that joined out of fun, were usually those that earned the most as their approach is usually laid back, and cautious.
"They do have something." The Sect Leader rebutted. "They would be getting rid of the competition."
"Is that so?" Mei already knew this was a possibility, but would the Fox Sect truly go to war with their current internal issues? No, at most they would try to pressure the Beast Sect while coaxing a few other Sects to do the same. That was the beginning and end of it.
"You might not know this, but the Fox Sect is in cahoots with the Fox Clans. And those Clans that didn't join them were wiped out." The Sect Leader shared this piece of information because he did hope that this Fox would understand his intentions.
Mei stilled. "That one was unexpected." Not because they were wiped out, but it was possible that those Clans' Treasures were not yet retrieved.
The story has been taken without consent; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.
What did it mean to Mei, who knew all kinds of Clans and their hidden treasuries? Even Aiko would be giggling at this!
"That was certainly valuable information." Now Mei had a perfect backup plan to use if they were rejected. She could even push against the Beast Sect for more benefits, she didn't need to be shy about anything!
"Speak, what do you wish to have in return." While Mei spoke like she would offer anything, there was a bottom limit that if he crossed, he would pay for it.
"I was thinking about inviting a few Foxes to look at our Illusion Arrays, those that our Disciples use, and tweak them accordingly." The Sect Leader knew not to push too much, especially since this information was quite cheap to find.
"That is no problem. While I don't have too many Foxes with this expertise, I can allow one Demonic Fox to come over to look at it." Mei nodded her head. She would discuss this with Aiko and the Demonic Foxes to see who would be willing to take this on.
"This..." The Sect Leader pursed his lips. He knew how unstable the Demonic Foxes were, so he would rather not invite them over.
"Is there a problem?" Mei narrowed her eyes. She understood that Demonic Foxes didn't have a good reputation, but this was clearly abnormal.
"N-nothing." The Sect Leader didn't want to offend her, so he just awkwardly laughed.
"I can promise quality, if nothing else." Mei shrugged. She didn't care if he liked or disliked the Demonic Foxes, but when it came to intelligence, those guys were unrivalled!
Although, making them make a move was truly difficult.
The Sect Leader sighed, ruffling his hair. "I can put my foot down, but if the Upper Southern Sect hears about this, it won't end well with me..." He sighed again, a bit frustrated.
"All will be good if the Illusion Arrays are good, no?" Mei chuckled. She believed that this process would end up smoothly and it was possible.
"Also, you damn bastard. At least start laughing normally, stop massaging your stomach with Qi!" The Sect Leader couldn't finally endure it and cursed at the Grandmaster. His shamelessness was so exceptional that even the Sect Leader was envious.
"Why, Sect Leader?" The Grandmaster smiled from ear to ear. It was obvious he was enjoying the situation.
"Stop taunting both me and the Northern Sect. You also have to explain why the Disciple suddenly appeared in the square." The Sect Leader frowned at him.
"We are merely moving bases." The Grandmaster said stiffly. He didn't expect to have this throw into his face while the Jade Fox was around.
Mei tilted her head. "Movement Array?" She gestured about the Disciples and the Grandmaster could only nod.
"Gosh, you are more extravagant than us." Mei was speechless.
The Grandmaster's lips twitched, the Jade Fox was truly shameless, probably no Fox would be able to match her at this.
"You are one to talk, Jade Fox." The Grandmaster rolled his eyes. Anyone who would see the Foxes continental flying ship would either die instantly from coughing up their internal organs, or fainting immediately.
That ship was so massive and spacious that he believed that the whole Fox Village could fit inside.
And he was not completely wrong. Outside the Demonic Foxes, pretty much every Fox was inside, meaning that the Fox Village could truly move around easily. Not to mention, with bigger ships comes greater defence!
Of course, steering and other parts might be more difficult, but that couldn't be helped.
"Hey, we are not doing anything abnormal." Mei snorted unhappily.
The Grandmaster rolled his eyes. He knew exactly what she was aiming for, but could he reject her? No.
"We are not the ones who fit the whole Fox Village into one damned ship." The Grandmaster ruffled his hair like he couldn't believe it. Needless to say, his act was convincing.
"Nono, hold on. What do you mean by 'the whole fucking village is inside one ship?" The scale suddenly increased so much that the Sect Leader couldn't follow.
"That is our continental flying ship." Mei smiled. Good thing this Grandmaster was witty and on their side, it made everything so much easier~!
The Sect Leader looked like he just heard a ghost story. His brain couldn't wrap around those words, even if he knew he was familiar with them.
"Hold on a damned second. A whole flipping village on one ship? Did you build it? Is that the place where all the Floating Stones are?" This was a huge deal- No, monumental deal! If the Foxes could build a fully functioning continental flying ship then that changed everything!
"Not all. We simply couldn't fit all of them." Mei shrugged like she was troubled, but the Sect Leader almost coughed up blood.
Bragging alright!? How can she be so shameless, just saying all those things with her straight, yet bashful face!
One has to know that pretty much every Sect doesn't have any Floating Stones that are not in circulation. In other words, in Cauldrons, flying ships and so on.
All those Floating Stones are precious and if you are not using all of them, you should hang yourself!
The Sect Leader didn't know how to tackle this situation.
As it seemed right now. The Foxes didn't seem to need anything, other than joining a Sect on the mainland.
However, for someone who can actually build the continental flying ships and prove that they are safe...
The Sect Leader felt like he was being manipulated by skilful hands and those hands belonged to this Vixen.
"You seem unsettled." Mei teased him as this conversation was pretty much in her favour now.
After dropping that bomb, it was obvious that she would lead the conversation now. Thus snatching many possibilities~!
"..." the Sect Leader sighed. Alright, he was played and damn near perfectly at that!
"No need to be upset, only few would be able to see through it." Mei shrugged. She already understood the limit of the Human Cultivators, so it was not hard to estimate the intelligence of their Sect Leaders.
This would help her later on once she was exploring the mainland for the Treasures of the ruined families...
