Chapter 2039 Dealing with the Formation Spirit's Demon Beasts Problem (1)
Observing the demon beasts in the distance that looked like small deities overflowing with divine power clashing fiercely clashing with the far greater deity standing unmoving above them, Xuan Hao felt increasingly troubled as the residual waves of these clashes ended up spilling out into the surroundings. Preventing him from getting anywhere close enough to attack these demon beasts without being noticed ahead of time.
Normally, he would have been able to make use of the Dao of Space to close the distance, but with the demon beasts locked in a constant battle with the core of the formation that remained unmoving no matter what they did, the space around them was far from stable. Making it close to impossible to get close without exerting strength ahead of time to stabilize a path.
Although doing that wasn't something the demon beasts could prevent without a superior comprehension of the Dao of Space, it did take some time and with the strength of the demon beasts, they should be more than capable of reacting before he could reach them. Rendering a sneaky approach through the Dao of Space impossible.
Still, he didn't intend to give up. Not just because he still had to get close enough to the core of the formation to get a glimpse of the ancient residence belonging to the Noble Li Clan Branch hidden away inside the massive star that was the outwards manifestation of the formation core, but also because he didn't see any way out of his current situation that didn't involve him helping out the spirit of the formation get rid of the demon beasts.
The reason being that the formation he had stepped through to enter this space had completely closed behind him. Sealing the path out.
Even though he understood that the reason behind this shouldn't be the formation spirit trying to keep him in place, but instead to prevent those stronger demon beasts from leaving this place, as the other party had already warned him ahead of time and he could have left the core of the holy lake if he wanted, he still felt a bit nervous knowing that the path out had been closed.
The only reason he didn't panic anymore about the situation being the fact that he still felt that he should still have some ability to force his way out by relying on the Stellar Dao Body's Divine Void Eyes to cause a spatial collapse that would inevitably break part of the formation and give him a chance to slip out.
Of course, if possible, he didn't want to do that, as causing space to collapse within the ancient secret realm as it found itself in the middle of the largest spatial storm he had ever seen was a bad idea, as the collapsing of space inside the ancient secret realm would also give the spatial storm a chance to enter. Essentially dooming the entire ancient secret realm, as no matter how strong the guardian formation of the ancient secret realm was, he didn't believe it had the strength to face the spatial storm raging outside head on.
This last-ditch effort to survive was just that, a last-ditch desperate survival attempt on his side, as dooming the ancient secret realm also meant he would have to face the spatial storm himself, something he was far from confident in doing with his current strength.
Shaking his head as he thought about this while observing the demon beasts in the distance, Xuan Hao soon dove towards a few nearby ruins floating amidst the darkness only lit up by the massive star in the distance alongside the demon beasts who clashed with said massive star.
Although he didn't see any hope of sneakily approaching the demon beasts and launching a sneak attack to deal with them, it didn't mean that such an opportunity didn't exist within the ancient ruins floating around the place, as they had after all managed to withstand the terrifying shockwaves for who knows how many years without showing the slightest bit of damage from these terrifying shockwaves.
Given that these ruins were mostly also constructed from the floating rocks he had filled over a hundred interspatial rings with, it made him wonder if there were different grades of the floating rocks that was stronger, but… After investigating the ancient ruins in question, he realized that the overall damage they withstood wasn't as great as he had originally imagined and the ruins still around were all a certain distance away from the massive star at the core of the dark space.
Still, during the investigation of these ruins that remained intact, he did discover that they could resist the shockwaves for some time. Giving him the wonderful idea of using these ruins to resist the shockwaves without having to use any strength that might reveal his presence to those demon beasts.
However, as he thought this through, he realized that the demon beast would undoubtedly grow suspicious of any large ruin that suddenly came hurling towards them out of nowhere all on its own. Even using more ruins as a distraction likely wouldn't work and would draw the attention of these demon beasts.
Meaning, his only way to use the ruins to close the distance was for him to follow the slow approach of some of the ruins that would be erased when they got too close but doing that wouldn't get him anywhere close enough. Leaving him troubled for a good few minutes before finally coming up with a plan that he felt would work.
First, get as close as possible by utilizing the ancient ruins around to resist the shockwaves and residual power that spread outwards whenever the demon beasts clashed with the formation core and then wait for an opportunity where no demon beasts were attacking to rapidly close the distance. Attacking before another demon beasts attacked the formation core. Preserving the ability to launch a surprise attack on the few stronger demon beasts who could wield power close to the Venerable Realm.
After all, though there were a large number of demon beasts, he noticed that only three of them had reached a level of power that seemed far beyond anything he had ever faced in the past. Likely the demon beasts close to the Venerable Realm, while around seventeen had reached a level comparable to the Star Creation Realm.
In total, he needed to take out at least twenty demon beasts during his ambush, while the others limited to the Land Creation Realm or a bit weaker than that could at least be resisted to some extent with his current strength.
Only problem he saw himself facing during a potential ambush being the fact that he had no idea how much strength he needed to exert to kill these twenty demon beasts and didn't exactly have the time to test how good their defense was compared to the demon beasts he had faced outside this dark space.
Launching twenty attacks was fine, but how much power he needed to dedicate to each of those attacks to ensure the demon beasts died was the problem, as if he failed to kill one of the demon beasts capable of wielding power close to the Venerable Realm, he would be in for a bad time.
Unfortunately, he couldn't exactly go all out, focusing all his strength on those three demon beasts with strength close to the Venerable Realm, as doing that would leave behind seventeen demon beasts with strength at the Star Creation Realm. Landing him in a position that he still wouldn't be able to survive easily.
This problem ultimately left him hovering in the air for a good few minutes staring towards the battle in the distance trying to see if he could grasp the strength of the demon beasts in the distance, but no matter how much he stared towards the battle, he couldn't gain anything from so far away without relying on his divine sense.
But… Using his divine sense was out of the question, as doing so would undoubtedly draw the attention of the demon beasts almost the instant his divine sense swept over them-
"Unless… I can time things correctly and use my divine sense to assess their strength properly just before I attack. Giving me time to adjust my strength properly, while at the same still being able to launch an attack before they can react!" Feeling both his eyes shining for a second as he muttered this to himself while looking off towards the battle in the distance, Xuan Hao felt that this plan seemed increasingly possible the more he thought about it.
And with no other solution to his current situation that required dealing with those demon beasts, he decided that this would be the way to deal with the demon beasts. If anything, it was also a good opportunity for him to test his own strength and ability to adjust quickly during battle, as failing to do that would essentially force him into a life a death struggle trying to escape before the three demon beasts with capable of wielding power close to the Venerable Realm could attack him…
