Creepy Pharmacist: All my patients are scary!
Chapter 819: We Will Surely Meet Again in the Future
She let out a breath, a trace of a holy smile spreading across her face as she looked at Lynn and said:
"I've never spoken this much to anyone before. Just listen and let it be. Although I later learned that that personality had always been lurking within my heart, and that I hadn't truly severed myself from the abyss, at least during the period right after I left the abyss, I was truly very happy. So even now, I have no regrets."
"Because I had broken free from the shackles of faith, and I had nothing left to be unsatisfied about."
She smiled.
It was also the first time Lynn had ever seen such a smile, one that came from the very depths of the Matriarch's heart.
He could also see the faint glimmer of moisture that had trickled from the corners of her eyes.
She really...
had been through so much.
A heartfelt smile appeared on Lynn's face for her as well. He vigorously gave her a thumbs up, feeling genuinely happy for the Matriarch.
Yeah.If faith had already become a shackle, if you no longer understood why you were still guarding that idol, then why couldn't you just follow your own heart and live according to your own will?
He supposed that was what it meant... to be the god of oneself.
"And what about that Raven?"
Lynn snapped back to attention and asked his Matriarch curiously.
"After you left the abyss, did you ever see it again? What did it look like exactly, and what kind of origin does it have?"
Because Lynn was truly very curious. Not only had the Colossus's Brain and Sir Aiwen dealt with it, but even the Matriarch had crossed paths with it before. In a sense, it was precisely the appearance of that Raven that had truly pointed the Matriarch toward her path.
It seemed to always drift through the early stages of various civilizations, guiding them onto the correct trajectory.
The Self-Binding Angel paused, then gently shook her head, tucking her long golden hair behind her ear as she said:
"I don't know."
"In fact, after I left the abyss and settled down, I spent countless ages searching for it, but I never found any trace of it again. It wasn't until later, when that personality began to exert an increasingly negative influence on me, that I was forced to sever my memories of the abyss. From that point on, it too was sealed away together with that part of my memory."
"However, I did once entrust a sage of the Fate domain in the universe to perform a divination on it."
She raised her head, as if recalling the past.
Lynn immediately sat up straight, his breathing slightly rapid. "What was the result?"
She shook her head and said, "Very strange. The divination result showed that it didn't seem to belong to the spacetime we were in at the time. And when I tried to inquire further, that sage erased his own memories. It seemed he really had seen something, but didn't dare to touch it."
Lynn was taken aback.
It didn't belong to that spacetime?
He didn't quite understand that.
And even a sage of the Fate domain would erase his own memories. It seemed that this was a bug that every existence in the Fate domain would get stuck on.
Lynn pondered.
Because the trail had gone cold again.
And setting aside who that Raven actually was, what was it trying to accomplish? Connecting the early stages of various civilizations and gods like a thread, it was hard not to wonder what kind of purpose it harbored.
"Then Matriarch, do you still remember what that Raven looked like?"
Lynn pulled out a sketchpad and pen from his chest, adjusted his Monocle, and said:
"I want to record it down. Maybe I'll encounter it someday too, and when I do, I can catch up with it on your behalf."
The Self-Binding Angel couldn't help but laugh. Seeing how seriously and solemnly he had already taken out his sketchpad, she could only shake her head helplessly and began describing to him the Raven that had pointed her toward her path in her dreams.
He drew with focused concentration, rendering every single feather and every contour with care.
Until, following the Matriarch's dictation.
On his sketchpad.
The Raven's outline gradually became clearer and clearer, until finally he had reproduced its true form.
Lynn flipped the sketchpad around and showed the Raven he had drawn to the Self-Binding Angel, saying with a cheerful grin:
"Matriarch, you know what, this Raven's bird head actually looks a bit like our Night Doctor masks! If I made it any bigger, I'd almost think I was drawing the same thing!"
Lynn pulled out his Plague Doctor Mask from the System Space.
He compared the two with a click of his tongue.
Really.
Couldn't say they were exactly identical, but they were pretty much the same thing.
The Self-Binding Angel smiled helplessly. Indeed, they looked very similar. Perhaps even though she had forgotten at the time, after falling into hell and establishing the Night Doctors, she had subconsciously incorporated that design. Maybe it could be considered a form of remembrance.
"But I believe we will surely meet again."
Her gaze was gentle.
"Perhaps it's just a feeling, but my fate tells me that one day in the future, we will cross paths once more. And I have been waiting for that day to arrive."
She raised her head, her eyes full of longing.
My teacher, and my dearest friend.
Then she looked toward Lynn, a light, playful curve forming at the corner of her mouth as she said:
"But you mustn't tell anyone else about this. The Matriarch has only ever said these things to you. You have to keep the Matriarch's secret, alright? Do you understand?"
It was very obvious that both her tone and demeanor had undergone a noticeable change after everything that had happened. The relationship between them seemed to have grown even closer because of it.
Lynn smiled and gave a thumbs up, flashing his pearly white teeth.
"Don't worry, Matriarch. You know and I know. No third person will ever find out!"
Lynn held up the sketchpad in his hands.
He stared at the Raven with its jet-black feathers depicted on the page.
Then slowly clenched his fist.
As if trying to etch its image into his heart.
"So, can you still suppress that personality now? I'm still quite worried about your condition. After all, Nightfall City was built by your own hands. If anything unexpected were to happen, the entire Night Doctor Alignment would probably..."
Lynn voiced this concern seriously and solemnly.
Indeed.
If something like last time were to happen again, it would be far more than just a piece of bad news.
The Self-Binding Angel shook her head gently and said, "My current condition is still fairly stable. This was also a lapse on my part. I never expected that after I fell into hell, she would seize the opportunity to revive. But now that my memories have been restored, I will consciously suppress her."
"Besides, Aiwen and the others are all here as well. To prevent any further anomalies, I've placed some Seals upon myself. If that personality were to awaken again, Aiwen would be able to rouse and suppress me at the first possible moment."
As the only Root in Nightfall City other than herself.
As long as something like what happened this time didn't recur.
It wouldn't be a major problem.
And she was also very well aware that this was a war between herself and that personality. No external force could intervene, because to completely eradicate that personality, she could only rely on her own efforts.
Seeing the worried expression on Lynn's face, a hint of a smile appeared on hers. Her brows arched slightly, and she used that same playful tone as before:
"Come here."
