Chapter 818: I Want to Be My Own God

She took a deep breath, and in that instant, her face seemed to be written all over with exhaustion and gloom.

The reconstruction work was arduous.

It was even far more difficult than a bloody battle.

In order to restore the First Plane to its former glory, she had spent nearly several hundred years, bit by bit restoring it to its most powerful state before the war, and even making it stronger than before. The legions under their command had even expanded several times over compared to before the war.

And in order to never again see such a protracted war, when everything reached its peak, she led the grand army of the First Plane and, for the first time, broke the precept that the First Plane did not interfere with other planes. For the sake of an eternal and stable situation, she boldly launched a war of vengeance against the great abyssal planes.

One plane after another, she broke them down.

Endless infiltration, endless differentiation.

Before the orderly army, she spent another several hundred years and finally completely eradicated those forces within the abyss that could once again threaten the First Plane.

And at that time, her power had in fact long since reached the ceiling of the abyss. If it had not been for the restrictions of the rules there, she would have long since been able to become a god.

"All the Monarchs... were they all destroyed by you?" Lynn asked urgently.

The Self-Binding Angel lowered her eyes slightly and said, "Mm, at least that generation of them, none can stir up any waves anymore. The abyss is terrifying, but that is only relative to ordinary beings. As for true gods, as for me who was only one step away at that time, they could hardly keep pace with me anymore."

And after doing all of this, after clearing every obstacle for her sisters.

She knew.

She could no longer suppress the heart that wanted to leave.

So it was on that very day.

For the first time, she stood before that great gate which they had always guarded. With no more faith in It whatsoever, she could finally follow her own true heart.

Push open that gate!

Lynn said gravely, "You pushed it open?"

But the Self-Binding Angel fell silent.

Finally.

After who knew how long.

"No."

She could not push it open.

Even though she was already the ceiling of the abyss at that time, even though she already towered above the Monarchs, she still could not budge that gate in the slightest.

There was clearly no fluctuation of power, and it was clearly just a massive stone door. The material was nothing more than the common black obsidian stone found everywhere in the First Plane. Yet no matter how much strength she used, she could not set foot inside.

And it was at that moment that she understood.

So all the speculations and rumors had been nothing but absurdity.

Even that war itself had been just as absurd and laughable, because everyone had been wrong. Lucifer truly existed, and He truly was, just as the legends said, someone you could not look up to. Because in this abyss where gods were forbidden to set foot, even the gate that she could not budge had long since proven it.

He had not failed to become a god.

Rather, He had already grown so powerful that He could simply ignore the rules of this abyss and forge His own eternal residence here!

Lynn sat there stiffly.

Listening to her detailed account, it was as if he could also feel the emotions she had felt at that moment.

"Actually, if anyone had just tried to push that gate, no one would have ever tried to claim He did not exist, and no one would have harbored any doubt about His rule. But not a single person dared. We did not dare, and those Monarchs who had already slaughtered their way to the front of the gate did not dare either."

She said in a low voice.

"He truly did exist, and He did not need our protection at all, because under that kind of power, even if the entire abyss ceased to exist, that castle would absolutely remain eternal in this world."

And that was authority.

He did not even need to do anything. He did not even need to appear. Just that castle standing there, making you know He might still be alive, was enough to make you bind yourself in layer upon layer of shackles!

Making your entire body tremble, making you dare not cross the line, making you dare not break those rules by even a single step!

And this.

Became a nightmare she could not escape for a very long time to come.

Lynn said gravely, "So, that Fallen Angel, was she born at that time, is that right?"

The Self-Binding Angel raised her head, took a deep breath, gazed into the distance, and said:

"I think that must be it."

"Or rather, she is more like a denial of my present self by my past self. It was because of my cowardice and weakness, born bit by bit from the fear I felt when I learned that Lucifer might still be alive, that she emerged as a ghostly apparition with extreme resentment toward me."

"She resents my betrayal back then, thinking that from the moment I knew Lucifer might still exist, I should have continued guarding that gate for the rest of my life, serving as His attendant, rather than leaving that abyss."

"But I did not actually know at first. It was not until the moment I became a god that she first appeared before me in the form of a personality."

The entire underground hall fell into silence.

For a moment, Lynn had no idea what he should say.

But what an enormous terror that was.

The faith in Lucifer that had been deeply rooted in their hearts for countless generations had long since become a shackle upon them. In the endless flow of time, they had even forgotten why they were guarding that gate, yet this submission had still been passed down to the present day, countless ages later.

But if you had been in that position at that time, what choice would you have made...

All your prayers went unanswered. You did not even know why you were guarding. You did not even know if He was still alive. The enemy had already slaughtered their way to the hall. Would you really still dedicate your own life, even your entire lifetime, for that cold divine statue behind you?

She took a forceful deep breath and said:

"Perhaps He truly is still alive, and the fear of Him might press down on my heart for the rest of my life. But from the moment I decided to leave, He no longer meant anything to me."

"I have guarded that divine statue for countless years, but never again from now on."

"Just as that Raven said, I want to be my own god."

The light gradually returned to her eyes, just as it had been when she resolutely left back then. These tens of thousands of years had never once shaken her resolve.

She clenched her fist tightly.

And so on that night.

After she had maintained everything in order, she made the most important decision of her life. She left that castle where the Red Moon hung high all by herself, without saying goodbye to anyone. Alone, she trudged forward, crossing one vast abyssal plane after another, never looking back.

And so the abyss lost an Archangel of Lucifer, and the main universe gained a sacred spirit.

Because she had experienced chaos, she understood the importance of order.

Because she had dwelled in darkness, she craved the light all the more.

And so she shed every black plume upon her body, completely severing ties with her past self. This also marked her complete liberation of herself, no longer needing to guard that tomb until the end of her life.

She cried out to the entire universe.

She even spent several thousand years soaring through the boundless and vast sea of stars, savoring to the fullest the joy that freedom brought.

As if everything had finally settled into place.
