Creepy Pharmacist: All my patients are scary!
Chapter 790: The Final Test
Pfft-
The sharp blade was suddenly pulled out from a twisted humanoid body, blood splattering everywhere along with thick, viscous fluids.
Bai Yi collapsed to one knee, wounds covering every inch of his body, gasping for air in huge gulps. All around him lay the remains of twisted humanoids scattered by the wind, and even the blade of his pure silver sword was now riddled with notches and chips.
"Fifteen minutes."
The Spiritual Medium pressed the second hand of her stopwatch with a grave expression, gazing at the young man below the observation platform with a gratified smile:
"Just as I thought. Because his body was subjected to some kind of evil modification, he received a great boost and enhancement, didn't he? With less than two months of training, being able to pass the third round of tests in such a short time... this child is truly talented."
The Daoist Angel beside her stroked his beard and said with a serious expression:
"No, there's still the final test."
"Those were merely unremarkable evil entities on the fringes of religious classification. If he wants to pass this trial, he still needs to defeat a much more powerful opponent. Only then can he officially become a qualified Demon Hunter."
His eyes narrowed slightly.Because lately, the Flesh and Blood Cult's activities around the world had become increasingly frequent.
Evil ghosts, vengeful spirits, twisted aberrations, reanimated corpses, and strange spirits that existed only in legends - all kinds of supernatural phenomena were erupting with alarming frequency. Every single one of them pointed to one fact: they were trying to unleash an even more terrifying wave of chaos upon this world. Though for now, their true purpose remained unknown.
And this young man before them...
He was their only medium for establishing contact with hell.
Because if the Flesh and Blood Cult truly succeeded in creating mass panic, or summoned monsters that completely defied comprehension, their only guarantee of survival would be his sworn big brother from hell.
"Then let's begin. The final round of the test."
The Spiritual Medium narrowed her eyes as a blood-stained talisman in her hand slowly burned into wisps of green smoke.
She was preparing to release a higher-tier evil entity.
A chill wind began to blow once again, and even the surrounding area seemed to darken considerably more than before.
Blood-red patterns flickered across the ground, and the atmosphere plummeted to freezing point in an instant.
Bai Yi immediately struggled to prop himself up, panting heavily, gripping his sword with both hands, his gaze locked dead on the deep darkness ahead. His entire body was taut as a bowstring, waiting for what would be the greatest trial of his life.
And if he could succeed...
Then he would officially earn his position within the Supernatural Administration, and he would be able to better protect the family of his big brother in this world.
Whoosh-
A thick stench of blood surged forth from the darkness.
And at that very moment, a hoarse shriek like a viper's hiss erupted from within the black.
A monster shaped like a human female, covered entirely in blood with a body that was almost completely twisted, shuffled out with creaking sounds. Her limbs bent and flexed at unnatural angles. She had no face - in place of where features should be was only a rank, foul maw bristling with sharp hooked barbs. Her entire body rippled with pulsating cysts and pus-filled boils, making her look like a creature that had crawled straight out of hell.
With every step she took...
Drops of blood and viscera dripped from her body, leaving a long, sticky trail behind her.
"[Aberration]. A monster twisted by filthy energy. We discovered this abnormal existence about ten days ago in a hospital down south. According to the Containment Team's observations, she was a nurse in her former life. However, after being twisted, her soul was completely shattered. What remains now is nothing but a hollow shell that knows only killing and devouring."
The Spiritual Medium explained grimly to the Celestial Master beside her.
And at that very moment-
"Caw-"
A cacophony of noise howled forth like a flock of crows.
The twisted figure's ten fingers instantly grew razor-sharp claws as she came screaming toward Bai Yi in an extremely contorted and bizarre posture.
Her speed was incredible - far surpassing normal human limits, and even several times faster than the evil entities he had just killed.
In the blink of an eye...
The nurse with the grotesque maw was already upon him, her sharp claws gleaming with a terrifying sheen.
Clang-
Sparks flew everywhere.
Bai Yi gritted his teeth, holding his blade horizontally, barely managing to block the monster's lethal strike.
His stamina had already been greatly depleted from the previous battles. Facing such a formidable enemy now was an enormous challenge for him. But he wasn't afraid. Instead, he abruptly retreated, then used the momentum to grit his teeth and swing his silver sword in a sweeping arc toward the nurse.
But it was clear...
The nurse's power was more focused on agility. His sweeping blade was easily dodged by her in an instant, and her razor-sharp claws slashed across his shoulder with a screeching howl, leaving behind a long, deep wound that exposed bone.
Bai Yi cried out in pain with a fierce roar, using the momentum to flick his blade upward.
Pfft-
The silver sword left a long gash across her body as well, crimson blood and viscous fluids spraying through the air. But the strike hadn't hit a vital point, and she nimbly retreated to put distance between them.
"Not bad. Being able to seize the opportunity to wound the opponent despite such heavy stamina drain shows excellent reflexes."
The Celestial Master said in a low voice.
But the Spiritual Medium beside him shook her head, both eyes reflecting the battle below, and said:
"No. The reason evil entities are evil entities is precisely because they possess power far beyond ordinary beings."
Shhhhh-
Under Bai Yi's panting gaze, the wound he had just inflicted on the nurse began healing at a visible speed, and soon she was fully restored to her original form within rolling black mist.
He knew... this time he had truly run into a troublesome opponent.
But this past month of training had allowed him to acquire a great deal of knowledge about these ghosts and evil entities from the various senior Demon Hunters.
To fight against supernatural power, one could only use supernatural means.
His fingers twitched.
Then he slowly gripped his sword with both hands, his expression turning serious. He began to chant a series of obscure, archaic religious incantations under his breath. His fingers trembled as he lightly touched his forehead, then both shoulders. A bracelet with a cross slid down from his sleeve onto the hilt of his sword, which he gripped tightly.
As the ancient words were chanted, a faint golden glow began to emanate from his body.
"That's..."
The Celestial Master's eyes suddenly narrowed.
The Spiritual Medium looked up and said: "It seems to be an exorcism incantation he learned from those senior Demon Hunters. Based on the look of it, it belongs to the ancient Latin tradition. You should have noticed by now - the Western exorcist factions have been getting increasingly involved in our affairs. If the Daoist and Buddhist schools don't come down from their mountains and temples soon, you might want to start worrying."
