Chapter 84: Chapter 85: Little Trouble

Seeing that the other party already knew their identities, Captain Lu stepped forward first to keep Chen Xing from drawing their attention. "I can tell you what happened on the island!"

He always felt Chen Xing was too dazzling and that drawing attention to her would only bring trouble.

The one leading the United States’ side was a middle-aged man of average height with sharp brows and a high-bridged nose. His body was powerful and muscular.

He took a few steps forward, his gaze sweeping past Chen Xing and the others before landing on Captain Lu. "Then let’s hear it." It was hard to tell if he was genuinely curious or just humoring him.

Captain Lu gave them a rough account of how Liang Yuncheng had killed Captain Rick. "Liang Yuncheng is definitely still on the island. You can go look for him. As for the transaction with your country, I know nothing about it!"

Wilson was an Admiral. He had fought in countless wars, had powerful backing, and was always the one in charge. "We’ll settle the matter of compensation for the transaction later. But an entire shipload of my soldiers is dead, and our submarine was blown up. Naturally, we have to settle that score with you, the ones who survived! How can I be sure this Liang Yuncheng you speak of is even real?"

Captain Lu hadn’t expected them to accept the facts so easily. "We’ve told you the truth. If you plan to use your superior numbers to act brutishly and unreasonably, then you should know we’re not the type to run from a fight!"

Wilson hadn’t expected a mere captain to have such a tone. Displeasure ignited on his arrogant face. "Us, brutish and unreasonable? Ridiculous! Our entire team died on this island, and now your team is the only one left alive. How do you expect us to believe you?"

Captain Lu smiled, a trace of helplessness on his resolute face. "I’m not trying to make you believe me. I’m just telling you the facts. Whether you believe them or not is your business!"

When it came to presence, he refused to be outdone.

Especially when faced with someone domineering, his fighting spirit would only rise to the challenge.

Admiral Wilson: "..."

’This is the first time I’ve ever been treated so disrespectfully!’

As an Admiral, he was adulated wherever he went.

’How dare a mere captain who’s been stripped of his post speak to me like that?’

The fury rising on his face was becoming uncontrollable. "The way I see it, you used the transaction as a pretext to launch a sneak attack on our fleet! I will see this matter through to the end!"

As he spoke, he gave a subtle glance, and the naval soldiers standing behind him surged forward.

Captain Lu did a quick count. There were at least two hundred men.

There were only 36 of them in total, and with Chen Xing, that made 37. They were severely outnumbered.

If a fight broke out, they would be at a great disadvantage.

But they absolutely could not lose in terms of presence!

"If that’s what you insist on thinking, there’s nothing we can do!" Captain Lu wore a nonchalant expression, but his hands, hidden behind his back, were already gathering his superpower.

Seeing his indifferent look, Wilson grew even angrier.

This was no longer a personal matter.

"Captain Lu, you will pay the price for your insolence!" An enraged Wilson no longer controlled his emotions, roaring as he pinned trumped-up charges on Captain Lu. "You plotted to harm our Captain Rick and one hundred and ten of our sailors! We are arresting you—all of you—effective immediately!"

With that, he took a step back.

Seeing that a fight was about to break out, Chen Xing, along with Xiao Wu and the others, took a step forward, showing their resolve to follow Captain Lu to the death.

When Wilson saw that he hadn’t intimidated them, his expression turned even uglier. "Since you insist on resisting, we won’t be holding back!"

’It’s better if they resist. That gives me a legitimate reason to kill them!’

He had over two hundred men here, all of them soldiers enhanced with superpowers. No matter how they fought, it was a guaranteed win.

However, before he could make a move, he heard the sound of approaching vehicles and had no choice but to hold back for the moment.

Less than half a minute later, several military trucks pulled to a stop in front of the fog-shrouded group.

Wilson had a bad feeling.

His face, its fury undiminished, was now veiled with resentment.

Chen Xing: "..."

Captain Lu: "..."

The Song Family... of Song Yiguo!?

The trucks stopped, and Vice General Du’s handsome figure emerged from the dense fog.

His strong, ramrod-straight figure strode toward Chen Xing without a hint of hesitation. He gave her an extremely polite nod, then looked at Wilson and asked her, "In trouble?"

"A small problem," Chen Xing said lightly.

Her casual "small problem" was incredibly insulting.

’What?’

’Me, the great Admiral Wilson, am just a "small problem" in her eyes?’

But... he didn’t dare fly into a rage in front of the Song Family.

Wilson had heard of the Song Family.

After the apocalypse began, several major powers in Huaxia had risen quickly, and the most successful among them was the Song Family. Even their own Great Commander didn’t dare to clash with the Song Family directly.

"Hello... I am Admiral Wilson of the United States Navy. We came to the North Sea this time..." He gave a sanitized account of how his team had died in the North Sea, glossing over the important details. "We suspect Captain Lu killed them to silence them. We hope the Song Family can give us an explanation!"

For an admiral like him, having to lower his tone to a young upstart like Vice General Du was infuriating.

But he was on their territory, and they had the numbers. He could only endure it.

A hint of a question appeared on Vice General Du’s incredibly handsome face. "As I understand it, Captain Lu’s mission was a deliberate setup. He’s incredibly lucky to have survived. How could he have, as you suggest, Admiral, planned this whole thing?"

"This..." Wilson was slightly taken aback, not expecting Vice General Du to know some of the inside story. "That’s his version of events. The fact is, we lost a submarine and over a hundred crew members! And... the transaction failed, and the nightingale escaped from their custody... Song Family..."

"Admiral, I believe you’ve misunderstood the purpose of my visit." Vice General Du had no patience for his nonsense and cut him off. "I heard Captain Lu was framed and came to help him, not to pass judgment on your grievances with him! As for the transaction, you can resolve that privately later!"

Wilson: "..." His expression was quite ugly.

"So you’re saying, regardless of whether Captain Lu had anything to do with Captain Rick’s death, you’re going to protect him, is that right?" Even an idiot could see that Vice General Du was siding with Captain Lu.

"If the Admiral insists on understanding it that way, so be it. I’m just following orders. I do as my superiors command. I hope you can understand, Admiral." His humility and courtesy were flawless.

Wilson was filled with a bellyful of rage, but he couldn’t vent it.

The Song Family had arrived in several trucks. Although only Vice General Du had gotten out, as a military man, Wilson knew exactly how many people those vehicles could hold.

"In that case, I won’t make things difficult for you," Wilson said in a compromising tone. "However, am I to take this to mean that you no longer wish to maintain friendly relations with us?"
