Contract Marriage: Enemies With Benefits
Chapter 63: Strawberry
"Mr. Wang, I had come across some of your handiwork when I was still working for my father. I couldn’t have known you’d be the same after all these years, doing dirty business and having the morals of a gutter rat," Sienna looked at the
"Who are... you? I was told the new managing director of Qing Horizons is just a hollow figurehead, you clearly..."
"Not as clueless?" Sienna stepped back from the man, "If they told you who I am, you wouldn’t jump on me so readily."
"I..." Mr. Wang was a shrewd businessman and a disgusting man who preyed on the weak and submitted to the strong. He immediately understood that he was almost used by someone to destroy the woman in front of him.
"I am Sienna Qing," As Sienna spoke, she tapped on her phone and scrolled through a bunch of sound effects before she tapped on one.
’Crash’
The sound of glass shattering accompanied by muffled screams filled the room.
"Qing... Sienna Qing... The legitimate daughter of Daniel Qing..." Mr. Wang paled, realizing what he almost walked into.
He couldn’t imagine the consequences had he managed to get his hands on Sienna. The man broke out in cold sweat as he slumped on the floor.
...
The next morning, the business circle was buzzing with the news of the investor who was arrested after his history of sexual assault was verified by the police.
Netizens discovered that years ago, many of his victims had spoken up and he had been to prison but then, he was released soon without facing any consequences.
Those victims had lost their case, unable to afford a decent lawyer and proper evidence and the investor Mr. Wang was declared innocent.
But this time, the old case was reopened and the victims showed up with one of the most renowned legal representatives in the country.
"Thank you, Vincent," Sienna squatted beside the orange kitty while the grey and black one wrestled on the floor, at a little distance.
"I am curious how this man has offended you."
"If not for my identity, I would have been another victim of his," Sienna’s face turned solemn.
There was silence on the other side of the phone, "Are you alright?"
"Nothing happened to me. I just wanted to make sure he couldn’t hurt more women."
"Your mother would be so proud of you."
Sienna was briefly surprised. The number of interactions she had with Vincent could be counted on one hand but in all those interactions, Vincent was usually rational and restrained.
He was her mother’s private attorney so he must have known her well but the man had never made an emotional statement before.
"Now Wang’s downfall makes more sense," Sienna heard him say.
When Sienna went downstairs for breakfast, she was still thinking about what Vincent said to her.
’Wang’s personal life is already messy enough to keep him in prison for a long time. But his business has been crushed overnight, all his underhanded dealings have reached the authorities.’
Sienna’s gaze drifted to the man occupying the head chair of the 12-seater dining table.
Callahan had donned a classic grey suit, his hair coiffed to perfection and his eyes were focused on the book in his hand.
Occasionally, the man sipped his pear osmanthus juice. Every time he tilted his head, sunlight grazed his features, making him look dreamier.
"Aunty Jane will have to work overtime to wipe that drool off," the man said without looking back.
In her daze, Sienna nearly skipped a step. She glared at the man. Did he have a pair of eyes in the back of his head?
"No," Callahan elegantly pointed a hand towards the tall arched windows.
Sienna realized that her reflection in the glass, "Only scheming people read Machiavelli so casually over breakfast," she walked over to the dining table and pulled the chair next to him.
Spring air flowed around Callahan.
With a hint of a smile on his face, he put the book down, "You weren’t judging my reading choices when you ogled at me for a good six minutes."
"_"
Sienna mulled over Vincent’s words for a moment before she spoke, "What happened to Mr. Wang’s business was your doing," she had a lot of things to say but at the same time, she couldn’t find the right words to express her feelings
When she did not hear a response from the man, she raised her head. And the sight that greeted her vision made her jaws drop.
Callahan dipped a strawberry into the melted chocolate, his eyes never leaving Sienna’s face as he took a slow bite.
A smear of chocolate lingered at the corner of his mouth, and she found herself watching as his tongue swept it away, completely forgetting the breakfast cooling on her plate.
He pushed the remaining strawberry in his mouth, shifting his gaze to his plate.
"What about it?" The man spoke after a minute.
From the beginning till end, Sienna’s eyes hadn’t strayed from his lips. When his words registered in her mind, she had long forgotten what they were talking about.
"N... Nothing... Nothing at all," Sienna unbuttoned the top button of her blouse as she rubbed her neck.
Callahan’s gaze lingered at the woman who was looking anywhere but him and the corner of his lips curved slightly.
By 10 am, the staff of Qing Horizon had already gathered in the resort boardroom for a meeting. To everyone’s surprise, Linda didn’t show up but in her place was their receptionist, Flora who wasn’t usually a part of these meetings.
Head Chef Luna looked at Flora in surprise, "I thought the General Manager was joking when he said that Linda was demoted and you have replaced her. What’s going on?"
Flora lowered her gaze.
General Manager Harris let out an impatient harrumph, "Miss Qing is far too inexperienced to understand how this resort operates. Linda was a capable secretary, and now she’s been reduced to a receptionist? Meanwhile, someone with no management experience has been put up for the position!"
Flora shrank into her chair, keeping her eyes fixed on the table as Harris continued his tirade about Sienna’s inexperience.
The door opened and Sienna walked in, her expression perfectly composed.
