"When did you start living here?" Sienna asked him suddenly.

"It’s been a few years," Callahan answered.

"Then these orchids..."

"The previous owner of this place."

"Oh," She glanced at the man who did not strike her as a flower person either and something flickered in her gaze.

Suddenly, Callahan leaned towards her and Sienna instinctively closed her eyes.

But after a few seconds, she felt a light touch on her hair.

When she opened her eyes, Callahan had already pulled back. In his hand, there was a small leaf he probably plucked from her eyes.

"You look disappointed. Did you perhaps... want a kiss?"

The way he looked at her was almost accusatory, as if she was always trying to take advantage of him, "No. No!" Sienna stood up from the bench, "I don’t want..."

"Why make it hard for yourself? I know how much you want it," With a face still as straight, Callahan looked up at her while touching the corner of his lips, "Come, I will sacrifice myself for your desires."

Sienna’s gaze briefly dipped to his lips before she mentally slapped.

But Callahan had already noticed the small action of hers and there was a hint of provocative smile on his annoyingly handsome face.

"Fine, let’s make a bet," Sienna crossed her arms in front of her chest.

"Oh?"

"In the light of things that happened between us lately..." Sienna cleared her throat lightly, "the bet is simple. Neither of us kisses the other person. Whoever does it first is the one to lose."

Callahan’s frowned.

"I will take your silence as a yes," Sienna nodded to herself, "It’s late. Let’s have our dinner before we go to sleep.

Callahan’s eyes narrowed slightly as his face darkened. He looked like a fox who had accidentally become a victim of his own scheme.

The sight of it was particularly satisfying for Sienna’s soul. As she walked away, her lips curved into a smile.

The next morning, when Sienna opened her eyes, she was greeted by the sight of a muscular chest that was positioned inches away from her face.

She tried to move but her waist was restrained in a death grip. It took her a moment to understand the situation she was in.

The pillow barrier on the bed had become non-existent at some point and she was on Callahan’s side of the bed. She was clinging to him like a koala, one leg thrown over him while another arm hugged him.

The position she was in... Sienna was sure she couldn’t defend herself if Callahan woke up right now.

So, she slowly nudged herself backwards, gently removing her limbs from his body, one by one.

She lifted his arm from her waist and slowly moved to sit. But before she could fully sit, the arm wrapped around her waist again and within a split-second, her body was yanked back.

This time, she ended up on top of Callahan. The man who was supposed to be asleep was gazing at her through narrowed eyes.

For a moment, Sienna held her breath. Callahan’s hair fell above his forehead in a mess and his eyes still seemed a little sleepy probably because he just woke up.

Contrary to his usual prim and proper self, he looked more lazy and unrestrained right now. It made him look sexy in a way she didn’t understand and somehow, Sienna couldn’t take her eyes off the man.

As his lips parted, she gulped softly.

"Where are you running off to?" His voice was hoarse and deep.

Sienna blinked and averted her gaze with a guilty conscience, "Why... Why would I run..."

Callahan pinched her chin and tilted her face to him, "Look at me when you say those lies."

Sienna was forced to meet his gaze and suddenly, she found herself tongue tied, "I was awake for a long time. I didn’t realize when I dozed off and crossed... the pillow barrier."

"Butterfly, are you trying the carrot and stick method on me, hmm?"

"W-What?"

"You refuse to tell me upfront that you want to kiss me so you wake up in my arms instead, trying to give me carrots and ideas?" Callahan looked slightly amused.

Sienna was almost provoked by his words but seeing the cocky smirk on his face, she suddenly calmed down.

She smiled.

Callahan’s eyes narrowed.

While still being on top of him, Sienna leaned forward till her lips hovered inches away from his, "So, are you getting any ideas?"

Suddenly, the hint of smirk faded from Callahan’s face and something shifted in his eyes. He grabbed the back of her neck and—

"Young Master!" Butler Thomas’s panicked voice came from the door.

Before Sienna and Callahan could recover their senses, another booming voice followed.

"Brat, why are you acting so mysterious?!" Old Master Hawke’s voice boomed, "Thomas, knock down the door!"

"Old Master, I-I can’t possibly do that..."

Outside the room, Old Master Hawke was on the verge of exploding, "Fine then. My old bones would break this door,’’ the old man raised his leg to kill the door.

"Old Master! You can’t harm yourself!" Thomas hugged the man’s leg, "Old Master, calm down!"

The scene got more and more chaotic. Old Master Hawke was keen on breaking down the door while Thomas was fully prostrated on the floor as he hugged the old man’s legs, trying to stop him.

"Don’t stop me, Thomas. Today, I must get to the truth. This brat has been acting all mysterious with me, does he think I don’t know he is up to something? Today, I must show him who is the grandfather here!" Old Master Hawke snarled.

Butler Thomas looked at the closed door with tears in his eyes, ’Young Master, my old bones cannot hold on anymore...’

Right at this moment, Old Master Hawke broke free from Thomas’s hold with an explosive burst of strength as he raised his leg to kick the door.

But just as the old man’s foot reached the door, the door opened with a swift ’click’ and the old man stumbled forward.
