Chapter 1266: Chapter 662: Extra Story: The Big Bad Wolf Uses Old Tricks to Soothe the Little White Rabbit (1/2)

Alice swallowed the bitterness that was stuck in her throat and resolutely broke free from Chester’s grip.

"I don’t mean anything by it. I just feel that there are some things you need to think about carefully, and so do I. Living my whole life in a vague manner is not what I want."

Chester held back the urge to pull his hair, suppressed his anger, and coaxed with utmost patience, "Do you think I’m going to live a vague life with you?"

He couldn’t understand why she was overthinking all of a sudden; he really couldn’t fathom her heart.

Alice glanced at him, a twinge of pain flashing in her eyes, yet she calmly and casually said, "Rachel is sleeping. We shouldn’t wake her up to see us argue for the first time."

Chester’s face turned ashen, his thin lips barely moved, "Fine, we’ll talk later."

Returning home, as soon as Alice had placed Rachel on the bed, Chester couldn’t resist pulling Alice out of the children’s room.

Chester held Alice’s shoulders, looking at her grimly, "Now tell me, what exactly happened?"

Alice’s eyes reddened, she spoke calmly, "I suddenly feel that agreeing to get back together with you... No, we shouldn’t consider it getting back together, it’s just dating. Is this truly the right decision?"

Chester held back the urge to shout, "Have we already prepared to get married, and now you tell me this?" He coldly replied, his anger all concentrated in his icy gaze.

Alice suppressed the pang of pain in her heart, "I said we need to think things through carefully, and I’m glad I haven’t agreed to marry you."

Their gazes met, his expression stiff and cold, she saw the tenderness and love fade away from his eyes over the days...

Her heart ached so much, she really didn’t want things between them to turn out this way, but she truly couldn’t control her jealous heart.

Yes, she was jealous of Becca...

No matter when, he still couldn’t forget about Becca.

He calmly spoke through gritted teeth, "What do you mean by glad you didn’t marry me? Would marrying me be wronging you?"

Alice remained silent, her eyes already brimming with tears.

They were stuck in a stalemate.

Finally, Chester laughed bitterly, his mocking laughter filled the entire corridor, "Alice, do you understand what you’re saying to me now? I thought you had matured, but it turns out you’re still just as unreasonable and irrational. Since you think marrying me would be a grievance..." He pulled her towards him, "Then why did you come to New York with me?"

He misunderstood the meaning behind her words, but she stubbornly refused to explain clearly.

His continued concern for Becca felt like heaven falling into hell for her.

Let him say whatever...

She had been avoiding it, and yet it was confirmed in her heart.

He had been concealing it well today, but after the call with Keith, could he know that his inner turmoil was no longer hidden?

Even while socializing with the Geoffrey family, she could notice the trace of despondence in his brow.

How he knew her heart aches intensely now...

With tears streaming down, she quietly confessed, "I’m useless..."

Chester pushed her away in disgust, "Think whatever you want. If you really feel wronged being with me, then you’d better think carefully. Maybe it’s true as you said, I should think carefully too." His words were filled with bitterness and anger.

"You can break up with me." She gently said, her chest filled with sourness.

"No, I absolutely won’t break up with you." He said harshly, his expression turned dangerous and deep, "I want to see, just how burdened you feel being with me."

Her face turned gray and pale, his words thrashed at her heart like lashes, she could only take deep breaths, trying to ease the pain in her heart.

He glared at her one last time, then turned and left.

Watching Chester’s departing figure, a wave of nausea hit her, she ran unpleasantly into the bathroom.

Chester actually didn’t walk far, he went downstairs in a rage, and finally just sat grim-faced in the living room.

Her unreasonable behavior indeed angered him, but he had no way to be mad at her, because he loved her desperately now.

He got up and returned to the second floor.

Puzzling over why she didn’t close the bedroom door, he softly called, "Alice, Alice..."

Alice didn’t answer; the air seemed cold and frigid.

Chester panicked, he quickly dashed into the room, and saw her rinsing her mouth with a cup of water in the bathroom. Only then did his heart settle, he went up to hug her, "Alice."

Seeing it was him, Alice pushed away in disgust, "Didn’t you leave? Why did you come back?" She felt so awful, she wondered if her bad mood was affecting the little treasure in her belly, even the little treasure inside was protesting against him.

Chester stubbornly held onto her, his tone evidently softened, "Where could I go? Without you by my side, I don’t want to go anywhere."

"You think saying sweet words will make me forgive you?" Although feeling dizzy and wanting to vomit, her body weakened to the point of fainting, Alice’s voice was not quiet, still vehemently scolding Chester.

"Just like sentencing me, you must give me a chance to appeal."

"Fine." Alice was furious, her eyes still stained with tear marks, her voice as icy as metal, "Why did you secretly ask Christine about Becca?"

Chester finally realized, "So this night, you’re angry because of Becca."

"Yes."

"You said you already forgot about her? I see you’re still thinking about her, right? As soon as I’m not around you, you hurriedly inquire about her news, you’re truly concerned about her." Alice’s brows furrowed tightly, almost merged into one.

Chester confused, "Did I ask for news about her tonight?"

"Don’t deny it, I heard it all."

"Did I?"

"If you can’t forget her, go chase her. Maybe you can get her back from Howard Geoffrey, maybe she has feelings for you too..." She admitted, she was speaking out of spite now, she harbored no dislike against Becca, she was just plainly posturing against Chester.

"What kind of person are you thinking Becca is?"

Hearing Chester defending Becca made Alice crazily frustrated, "I don’t want to talk with you, go quickly to Becca, hurry up!" Saying this, Alice again felt self-pity, "I just knew, in your heart, no one can compare to Becca. You already regret being with me, don’t you?"
