Chapter 1181: Chapter 618: Extra Story: The Wife-Snatching Chronicles (Part 2)

Alice leaned on Claud Laurence’s shoulder, her nose felt a bit sour, yet she smiled serenely, "I didn’t take it to heart; everything was my fault... I shouldn’t have concealed meeting Chester Robinson and caused a misunderstanding between us." Alice reached out and tightly hugged Claud Laurence, feeling his warmth.

Claud Laurence pressed his chin against Alice’s forehead, kissing her hair.

Alice’s eyes reddened, she looked up, gazing deeply at him, "Claud, believe me, I sincerely want to be with you; the past is truly behind me now, the only thing I care about is you..."

Claud Laurence felt a pang of heartache, "I’m sorry, I’ve been too sensitive, too nit-picky, and hurt you..."

Alice’s eyes brimmed with tears, she shook her head with a smile, "Let’s not fight anymore, okay?"

"Okay."

Claud Laurence lowered his head, kissing Alice deeply on the forehead.

Alice finally broke into a smile and hugged Claud Laurence tightly.

Claud Laurence embraced Alice and said, "It’s so late, have you had dinner?"

Alice shook her head in Claud Laurence’s arms. "I can’t eat."

"What about now? Are you still hungry?"

Alice nodded like a child who had been wronged.

Claud Laurence smiled and held Alice as they walked out of the room, "I’ll accompany you to dinner."

Outside the "Yorna" hotel, a black car was parked by the roadside.

Keith Antony frowned slightly, "Boss, General Laurence and Miss Alice..."

Chester Robinson sat in the back seat, expressionless. In his sight, Claud Laurence was shielding Alice’s head, Alice turned back to smile sweetly at Claud Laurence, then bent over to enter the car, Claud Laurence followed her into the car, sitting beside Alice.

The neon lights of the night illuminated the car interior, but couldn’t take away the gloom on Chester Robinson’s face.

Keith Antony glanced at Chester Robinson through the rearview mirror. Although he couldn’t discern his boss’s expression, he saw the loneliness in the boss’s deep eyes.

Keith Antony said, "It seems Miss Alice and General Laurence have reconciled..."

"Drive!" Chester Robinson said indifferently.

Keith Antony nodded, and the car headed in the opposite direction of Claud Laurence and Alice.

Night, peaceful.

In the large room, only a lamp on the cabinet beside the sofa was lit.

Chester Robinson slumped on the sofa, his tie loosened, shirt unbuttoned instantly, with two empty whiskey bottles and one empty glass at his hand.

The faint scent of alcohol lingered in the room, Chester Robinson’s typically arrogant gaze lost its usual brilliance...

His dark eyes slightly dazed, recalling a scene in his mind...

"Brother, you’re awake, you finally woke up... Brother, that’s great... Brother..."

She hugged him as he had just woken up, hardly able to breathe.

"Where is this?"

"This is the hospital, brother... you’ve been in a coma for over a year."

"Coma?" She held him tightly, her eyes filled with tears, "Yes, you’ve slept for so long..."

"What happened to me?"

"You don’t remember?"

"Bullet..."

"Yes." She bit her lip, her voice hoarse with guilt, "You got hurt saving me..."

"Becca?"

"Ah, Becca?" Her face turned pale from excited red.

"She... she’s not here."

"You said I’ve been in a coma for over a year?"

"Yes."

"Where is she?"

"She... she’s already married to Howard Geoffrey, living in New York with him."

He furrowed his brow.

She looked at his expression, her voice choked in her throat.

A nurse carrying a four or five-month-old sleeping baby walked in, surprised to see him sitting, "Mr. Robinson, you’re awake?"

He frowned, his gaze halting on the baby in the nurse’s arms.

She said to the nurse, "My brother just woke up, can you please fetch the doctor?"

The nurse was very excited, "Okay, I’ll go get the doctor right away." The nurse handed the child to her and rushed out.

She used her fingers to touch the baby’s mouth, noticing the baby making a sucking motion. She smiled and said, "You’ve gotten hungry, haven’t you..."

She was about to feed the baby when she remembered him.

She looked up at him and paused, "...Brother."

He looked at her, puzzled.

It seemed she struggled inwardly for a long time before softly saying, "Her name is Rachel, she’s our daughter."

His eyes widened.

She looked at his astonished eyes, slowly cradled the baby over, her voice hoarse, "Do you want to hold her?"

He squinted his eyes, sharp light radiating from within, speaking nearly in an icy voice, "You gave birth to the child?"

She paused for a moment, surprised at his reaction.

She laughed dryly, "You... don’t like our baby?"

He grabbed her hand forcefully, "Who allowed you to have her?"

Her face turned pale.

The scene shifted again, this time she stood in front of him, questioning, "You won’t even look at the child; do you truly hate children that much?"

He remained indifferent, looking at her coldly.

She murmured, "Or maybe the person you hate is actually me..."

He turned and left directly.

She chased after him, her small body blocking his way, "Fine... you don’t love her, I love her... Since you won’t acknowledge her as your daughter, I won’t force you to recognize her... I’ll leave T City tomorrow, I’ll never let myself and the child cause you any trouble again."

After speaking, she looked at him for a long time, he knew she hoped for something.

But what he gave her was only a cold departure.

Heart...

The pain came like being sliced by a knife.

Every scene in his mind was her crying...

Keith Antony once told him, "Boss, Miss Alice really loves you. When you were having surgery, the doctor wouldn’t allow Miss Alice to enter the operating room, Miss Alice begged the nurse tearfully to stay with you, but the doctor refused. Later, Miss Alice fainted, upon waking to realize your surgery had complications, Miss Alice was very worried. At that time the doctor said Miss Alice could go in to cheer you on and boost your morale, but Miss Alice knew you valued Miss Quentin the most, so even though she wanted to be by your side so much, she persuaded Miss Quentin to enter the operating room... Oh, do you know how Miss Alice persuaded Miss Quentin? She knelt before Miss Quentin, asking her no matter what to support your will..."

She had loved him so much, and he... never cherished her.

It was he who pushed her towards Claud Laurence, and now, what right does he have to own her?
