Chapter 1606: Chapter 807: Disguise

"Listen up, it’s summer now, so the sun rises earlier. Everyone take turns resting here and remember, a different person must keep watch every hour," Lin Beichen said.

"Yes!" everyone responded.

However, while they were resting, quite a few reckless people inexplicably tried to pass through the minefield and ended up getting blown away.

Following that, none dared to try again, each waiting for the next day.

"Well, these people have gotten smarter," the district chief said, watching the surveillance with a smile.

Sure enough, the squad leader slowly caught on as well.

"Listen up, they will definitely move at dawn tomorrow. So, figure out a way to make preparations at that time. As soon as they show up, hit them hard," the squad leader ordered.

"Yes!" the special operations team responded.

The special operations team was also smart, and they changed all their preparations overnight.

Sure enough, the next morning, just as they were about to set off, gunfire was heard.

"Wait!" Lin Beichen immediately realized something was wrong.

He promptly began to search based on the gunfire.

Since they had a map now, they quickly got a grasp of the terrain here.

"Look at this defense map. If we attempt to pass through this area using mine clearance, we might become their targets," Lin Beichen pointed at the map and said.

"However, this minefield isn’t very large. We can detour around it, but we cannot get too close; I’m sure they’ve made preparations over there," Lin Beichen continued.

"So, what do we do?" one person asked.

"Take a detour! Know this, if we continue moving straight, we’ll surely be surrounded. They already know we will look for shortcuts," Lin Beichen said.

Everyone listened with worry.

"If so, we’ll have to walk an extra fifty kilometers!" one person said.

"Yes! But this is the only way to reach the destination. However, we must travel day and night with no time to rest," Lin Beichen said.

Walking fifty kilometers doubled the journey in an instant.

"I won’t force anyone. If you feel you can’t do it, you can leave the team and continue on your own," Lin Beichen said.

"Big bro! From the beginning until now, you’ve led us. We trust you this time as well; let’s just keep moving forward."

"Hold on!" Lin Beichen’s lips slightly lifted, revealing a confident smile.

"This place is fraught with danger, so follow my orders. From now on, everyone must crawl through this minefield," he instructed.

The group was startled, eyes wide open. This was no joke; even if they made it through, their clothes would be tattered.

Ignoring their astonishment, Lin Beichen got down first and started crawling. Seeing this, everyone else followed suit without protest.

Gunfire occasionally echoed, but they dared not hesitate and kept moving forward. Gradually, they noticed changes in the direction of the gunfire.

"Looks like we’re close to the destination."

After about two hours, they reached the designated location but didn’t immediately reveal themselves. ℴ

Lin Beichen quickly got a mirror, using its reflection to cautiously scout the surroundings. Sure enough, a sniper was attracted by the reflection and fired a shot.

"Just as I expected."

They continued to inch forward and finally broke out of the encirclement.

"Alright, we’re safe now. Let them stay smug back there. We need to hurry; this is our only chance."

They pushed themselves to the limit, advancing as fast as they could. Unless absolutely necessary, they didn’t rest, maintaining a steady running pace.

Now, they truly experienced real cross-country running, all the while carrying heavy gear.

The fifty-kilometer journey turned into a hundred due to the detour. Even sprinting, they knew reaching the target area was not immediate.

But this was a military zone, and exercises were ongoing, so there was nothing to complain about.

"Look over there, what is that?"

Lin Beichen followed his teammate’s pointed direction and saw a strange military vehicle.

"That vehicle looks like a leader’s ride."

It turned out the military district’s leader was inspecting the area and, seeing the nice surroundings, wanted to get out to understand the situation.

"Go!" Lin Beichen didn’t pay much heed.

He sprang into action, charging forward and promptly "capturing" the leader.

"Do you know who I am? How dare you do this in front of me!" the leader glared, questioning loudly.

"I’m really sorry, but we’re conducting an exercise here. We’re just a group of instructors preparing to enter the military camp. Since we’ve set up this strategy, and you’ve accidentally entered the exercise area, you’ll have to bear with us for now."

In reality, the leader wasn’t angry, just testing them further.

"Young man, you shouldn’t go too far in your actions. Aren’t you afraid I’ll get furious and have you expelled from the army?"
