Chapter 908: The Convergence [Ko-fi Bonus Chapter]
Far away from the Thalvorn Empire, in an unknown location that seemed as though no Human among mankind had ever explored due to the sheer size of Crymora, an underground building could be seen, hidden behind layers of various abilities to ensure secrecy of the highest order.
Within this building, a large chamber could be seen, brightly lit. At the center of the chamber stood a huge round marble table that seemed to have been crafted from the finest marble. Around this table, eleven thrones could be seen surrounding the marble table.
And upon these thrones sat eleven humans. They all stared at the screen before them in silence as they watched the battle between Asher and Arianna draw to an end.
As for the people sitting here, they were the highest echelon of the organization most famously known as ’The Consumed’ or ’The Maddened,’ though they preferred to call themselves ’The Convergence’ because of their unique goal.
These eleven humans were called the Thresholds within their own Organization, and upon different parts of each Threshold’s head, a Roman numeral could be seen. On the forehead of one of them, the symbol ’IV,’ and beneath the lips of another, the symbol ’VIII,’ could be seen.
Each Roman numeral represented their number and rank among the Thresholds.
Among the Thresholds, a man with the number ’IX’ carved into his pupil could be seen eating a live rabbit with a fork and knife as he tore open its belly with his knife, took out one of its organs with his fork, and placed it into his mouth, blood dripping as he ate while watching the battle that had just finished unfolding on the heads-up display. He dabbed his lips once in a while with a white napkin as though he were the perfect gentleman and some sort of noble.
At another end of the table, a woman with the number ’III’ carved upon her cheek poured herself a pint of blood from a blood jug as she drank with a smile and a nod, as though the blood she drank was of the highest quality.
At another end of the table, a man ate the limb of a fellow Human that lay upon his plate, which he had cut into pieces to fit onto it. He had the symbol ’XI’ carved directly onto his eyelid.
The Thresholds worked according to their numbering. ’X’ had the power and authority to order ’XI,’ but of course not beyond the necessary limits. After all, at the end of the day, they were all Thresholds.
And among them sat a woman who had the symbol ’I’ carved right above her left eyebrow. She was the leader of ’The Convergence’ Organization, popularly known as ’The Consumed’ or ’The Maddened.’ She neither ate nor drank anything, neither did she react to the others who did. She simply sat there as she stared at Asher’s Star Form with a peculiar expression.
With a wave of her hand, the heads-up display everyone had been watching vanished immediately as she proceeded to speak in an authoritative tone.
"What do you guys think?" Her tone was calm.
"It seems we need to take care of the Wargrave family once and for all... helping the Sinvairas kill the former Primarch seemed to not be enough. Wiping them out is the only answer," another woman replied, her tone turning a bit cold. She was Threshold X, her number carved directly upon her jaw.
As she had said, ’The Consumed’ Organization had played a part in Azaron’s father’s death, as they had leaked the information regarding his whereabouts to the Sinvairas and simply watched the chaos unfold from the sidelines.
"That would require Threshold I, Threshold II, and Threshold III to make a move. After all, they are the only ones who can fight against Azaron and Morthern on equal footing," another Threshold replied, the Roman numeral ’VI’ drawn into both of his earlobes.
If anyone heard what Threshold VI had just said, they would be shocked to their very core. It had to be known that Azaron was outrageously powerful. Yet this Organization alone possessed three people capable of matching him.
"Hmmm... since they are all at the Thalvorn Empire, we should make a move at the Wargrave Ducal Territory, wipe out every local there, destroy everything, and burn it to the ground," a man stated as he watched the rat he had just set ablaze burn alive. He loved watching things burn and hearing them scream. It was like music to his ears and art before his eyes. He was Threshold VII, his number drawn directly upon the bridge of his nose.
"That would be stupid and a waste of time and resources after everything we just lost due to that Zarethorne Empire Emperor fucker exposing his own Mind Manipulation ability," Threshold V replied with a shake of his head, his own symbol drawn upon his upper lip just beneath his nose.
His words reminded everyone that the spies they had planted through Mind Manipulation were now free as a result of a major fuck-up seven to eight months ago. Although it was a great loss, it wasn’t something they couldn’t handle.
"Huh? Why? They would lose everything, no?" Threshold VII asked, a bit confused.
"Sigh... all you know is fighting, watching things burn and playing on your various beds with your fellow men," Threshold II replied with a shake of his head as he sighed, his own number carved into his tongue.
"What Threshold V means is that destroying the Wargrave Ducal Territory yields nothing for us. If we do that, we would only slaughter their knights, and that’s all. The Wargraves can simply employ more people and rebuild their territories again," Threshold II explained as he continued speaking. "To have a real victory over a Wargrave, you have to kill a Wargrave," he finished explaining.
Threshold VII stayed silent for a moment before nodding as he replied, as though he had finally understood, "I see."
But he understood nothing. He was simply a man who thought with his dick. If he wasn’t talented, he would never have reached the Crownstar Life Rank.
The rest of the Thresholds simply shook their heads at Threshold VII’s words as they knew he hadn’t understood anything. He only said those perfect two words whenever he didn’t understand something but simply didn’t want to argue any further.
But they didn’t expose him. They knew how powerful the man was.
"Then when will we make our move?" Threshold X asked calmly as she stared at the burning rat before Threshold VII.
"I don’t know yet, but soon," Threshold I finally spoke again. "But our objective this time will span across multiple plans, the most important being Asher Wargrave and Arianna Haellight," her tone remained indifferent, as though she could take on Azaron Wargrave and Azazel Haellight at the same time.
She possessed the right to be that arrogant. After all, she wouldn’t have created such an organization and possessed the power to keep these mad men and women in check if she lacked the strength to do so. She was simply what the Overlord of the Thalvorn Empire thought she was... or at least wished she herself was.
"Hehehehe, so we finally get to kill a Wargrave again. Can we set the Tenth Sun on fire?" Threshold VII asked with longing in his eyes, as though he wished to see the Tenth Sun burn and watch him scream like the squeaking rat right in front of him.
