Chapter 27 Compensation
Chapter 27: Chapter 27 Compensation
"Zzz... zzz..."
Lars had fallen asleep on his chair, his head resting on his arm on the table. He had become sleepy after gobbling down two plates of steak. Suddenly, he felt someone pushing his shoulder.
"Huh... what?" He looked up and wiped the drool from his mouth. Then he saw Max standing beside him.
"Max! You’re finally here? Where did you go?" Lars asked as he sat up straight.
"Something crazy happened. I was actually kidnapped."
"What?!"
Max then explained everything that had happened without leaving out any details. Lars placed a hand on his chin as he fell into deep thought.
"So that company actually thought you were me and wanted to recruit me. But how dare they use force to bring their target with them. Luckily, it wasn’t me who was there."
"Hey, have some sympathy, will you? I’m the one who took the damage because of you. Luckily, that company didn’t do anything to me, and they even compensated me for everything." Max said as he brought out the money. He had been given 2,000 Zents. For Max, that was enough to pay his rent for a few months.
"That Mazeltov group... what do you think of them?" Lars suddenly asked.
"They’re all a bunch of weird people. But they’re also talented hunters. And their leader, Zane, seems to be highly intelligent. And beautiful as well," Max said.
"Why do you ask? You want to join them?" Max smirked at Lars.
"No way! I’m just asking. Anyway, I will keep this card for now." Lars took the Mazeltov card and put it away.
"What’s the current bidding value, Lars?" Max asked as he rubbed his hands together in excitement.
"Hehehe. The current bid is already at 120,000 Zents. I expect this number will continue to rise," Lars said.
Kring! Kring! Kring!
Suddenly, Lars’s phone started ringing. He immediately answered it.
(Hello, Lars! When are you planning to go to the next dungeon? My fans are already asking for the next video.)
Justin was on the phone.
"Wait a minute." Lars then turned to Max.
"Max, are you feeling alright? Do you want to join us in raiding a dungeon?"
Max stretched his arms and tilted his head.
"Sure. I think I’m fine. Who’s the other guy?" Max asked.
"You need to see for yourself. And believe me... he is also weird."
---
Pang!
A man fell to the ground, his cheek bright red. All the other men standing nearby were shivering in fear.
"How did that guy manage to put up another bid?! Didn’t I tell you to find him?!" Arun shouted, completely enraged.
Right now, they were all inside his office in the VolcaCorp Building in District 19. The temperature in the room was rising as volcanic flames began to emit from Arun’s body. He was absolutely furious after seeing the seller note on the bid posted by Max.
He felt like that message was directed straight at him.
"W-we’re sorry, Mr. Arun! Next time, we will make sure we find him," one of the men said while trembling.
"I’m sorry. But there is no next time."
Suddenly, a woman’s voice was heard.
Everyone, including Arun, turned toward the door and saw a stunning woman walking elegantly into the room, escorted by four huge bodyguards. She had long, light-blonde hair that curled beautifully at the ends behind her back.
"Miss Beatrix! What are you doing here?" Arun’s eyes widened when he saw her. His anger immediately began to fade, slowly replaced by a hint of fear.
Because in this district, there was no one who didn’t know who Beatrix was.
She was among the top 15 hunters in the South Region of Rahiel, and she was also the manager and owner of the District 21 Dungeon Hub.
She raised her hand, and everyone immediately understood what she meant. Arun’s men left the room, while her bodyguards stepped outside and stood guard by the door.
"I leave this place for a few days to enjoy some time to myself, and I already receive countless complaints. They said you ordered your men to check every hunter’s ID and made things difficult for everyone. You owe me an explanation."
Her sharp red eyes locked onto Arun as she sat comfortably in his chair and crossed her legs, revealing her smooth skin.
"There’s someone out there selling Class Books and disrupting my company’s sales. Now, all the hunters are saving their money and waiting for that guy to post his classes," Arun explained.
"Is this the guy who goes by the name Anonymous214?" Beatrix asked.
"Yes. I want to find this guy and tell him that he’s messing with the wrong person!"
Beatrix then stood up and started walking.
"But that doesn’t give you the right to do whatever you want. Because of your actions, less hunters are coming to my Hub. How are you going to compensate me for that?"
"We... we will pay the compensation," Arun said slowly.
"Good. And I don’t want any of your men doing this kind of thing again. If I see it happen one more time, you and your people will be prohibited from entering my Hub," Beatrix warned.
"Now, I will be going. There are several other companies I need to warn as well."
She then walked out of the room, leaving Arun alone. He clenched his fists in anger before swinging his fist through the air.
As soon as Beatrix arrived at her car, her assistant opened the door and let her enter.
"Valencia, find me information about Anonymous214," she ordered.
Valencia immediately tapped away on her laptop before turning the screen toward Beatrix.
Beatrix’s eyes widened slightly as she looked through the information. She checked the history of deals Lars had made before, then watched the CCTV footage that recorded him entering the Auction Room.
"No wonder Arun was so angry with this guy. He single-handedly disrupted the market all by himself. Interesting..."
A smile appeared on her face.
"Let’s keep an eye on him for a while."
