Chapter 194: THE CHANGE OF PLAN

  • Next Chapter

"You have done so well to put Matt among the other seven alphas and for him to know which alpha from Altair’s pack would join the fight."

Seara shook her head. In her mind, Zade only wanted to appease her, trying to make her think that she had done something incredible when, in truth, she barely did anything.

"Seara, step outside your bedroom and Zephyr will hand you a map. Do that for me, Love." Zade had to keep Seara engaged, or else she would get a panicked state again.

Seara did what Zade told her and found Zephyr had been waiting for her in the corridor with a map in his hand.

With that, Seara realized he had coordinated the plan with his beta and gamma, which meant this was something she couldn’t change. It was going to happen whether she agreed to that or not.

"Everything will be alright," Zephyr said. He entered the room with her and displayed the map on the table. "This is the area around here."

Zephyr then took the phone down and put Zade on speaker as he explained what they were going to do.

The discussion lasted for more than three hours, and by the time it ended, Zephyr was exhausted. He stretched out his body.

"I am going to make instant noodles. Do you want it?"

"No..." Seara didn’t have the appetite to eat. She took the phone back and turned off the speaker.

"Okay, don’t ask for my food when I am done cooking," he said lightly and then walked out of the room, knowing Seara would need some time to talk to Zade.

"Zade..." she called him with a shaking voice.

"Everything will be alright."

That was another lie that Zade told her. She was well aware that everything could go completely wrong, and at a time like this, there were a lot of factors that could change the outcome.

"I want you here."

"I will do everything to be there with you, Love." Zade’s voice turned very gentle. "But more importantly, I need you to be safe."

"I want you to be safe too. Please... come back."

"I will. I love you, my love."

"I love you too."

And the line ended. For a moment, Seara stared at her phone. She didn’t say anything when she put it in her pocket. She went out of her room and found that Zephyr was in the kitchen with Lidya, cooking noodles.

"I am hungry; I want one too." The conversation had drained her mentally and physically. When it was over, only then could Seara feel it.

"See? I told you that she must want to eat it." Zephyr looked at Lidya smugly because he had cooked an extra portion for Seara.

"What if she didn’t want to?" Lidya asked.

"In that case, I will eat it all. I think I can eat a whole lamb right now."

Not long after, Jeremy and Jared joined them, and soon they were running out of instant noodles.

It was a gloomy sky when Seara entered the car in the middle of the night the next day so as not to attract unnecessary attention. They had to leave the building before people from the Quantum Protocol came.

There were so many things that changed in such a short time, as they had to adapt the plan to the current situation.

The devil had escalated the hatred between humans and shifters to the point of no return, leaving them with no other choice but to fight back.

And now, Seara would have to join Asher in his territory, which meant she had to go closer to her former pack. This made her jittery.

"Are you okay?" Zephyr asked. He would stay here with Ace to control the situation while Seara would go to Asher’s territory with Leia, Jeremy, and her four personal warriors.

"I am fine." Seara nodded, caressing Little Paw’s head. "Please, take care of it."

"Sure. Of course. We are buddies." Zephyr reassured Seara.

She couldn’t bring the wolf with her on this journey because it was risky. Many dogs had been killed because people mistook them for wolves; some of them even thought that the shifters could shift into dogs. That was why there were so many dead animals on the street.

Based on what they learned, a group of people entered the forest in the residence area because they had heard that there were many wolves inside.

Seara wished Reaper and the other wolves would kill those people. The wolves hadn’t done anything wrong, so why were those people seeking to harm them?

It had gone too far.

"Zeph." Seara looked around. They were in the lower level of the parking area. "I don’t know whether this is true or not, but I think the wolf can sense the devils too, so if he acts out, please, take it seriously."

"Really?" Zephyr raised his brows. "If that’s the case, it will be great!" He looked elated. "But why didn’t you tell us sooner?"

"This is the only way I can contribute... and I am not sure if this is correct."

Zephyr laughed at the reason. "Are you competing with a wolf? Don’t worry, you are way cuter than Little Paw." The gamma quickly took something out of his pocket before Seara got angry. "Here, Zade told me to give you this, just in case."

Zephyr gave Seara a handgun that she used for practice when they were at the beach house.

"Do you still remember how to use it?"

"Yes."

Suddenly, Jeremy appeared from behind her and caught sight of the gun. "I want one too. Did Zade say nothing? I need to protect her and my mother."

"You can shift into your wolf form; why do you need a handgun?" Zephyr flicked Jeremy’s forehead.

"Why not?" Jeremy protested as he rubbed his head.

The night was getting darker, and it was time for them to leave, because soon enough, this place wouldn’t be safe anymore.
