Chapter 187: BE CAREFUL

"They got him?" Leia was shocked; this was the first time she had heard this news. After all, only last night Kaleb came and brought the shocking information himself.

"Yes. Apparently, the devil not only sent his pawn here, but he also sent them to the other kingdoms. King Asher is fine, at least for now. But they still have not been able to figure out yet which one of their people has been compromised."

They had predicted this would happen the moment they learned what the devil was capable of doing. Seara would be in a critical place. Her role would be crucial for them to survive this crisis.

Caspian’s eyes glistened as he spoke through mindlink, then focused on his mate again. "I have to go now." He kissed her lips and could taste the saltiness from her tears.

"Please, come back." Leia had been very emotional in the past few days, especially when she just dreamed about her baby, and now Caspian had to leave for a dangerous place.

Zade must have thought everything through thoroughly. But there would always be an error, something that didn’t go as planned. It ended up ruining everything.

Leia didn’t think her heart could take the risk. She wanted to tell Caspian not to go, but it was impossible.

"What are you crying for?" Caspian chuckled, peppering kisses on Leia’s face. "I will come back, honey. Stay safe here and stay close with Seara."

Staying with Seara could be the safest place for his family, because Zade had used his utmost protection on his mate.

Moreover, with Seara’s unique ability, she would immediately know if people around her were compromised.

That was very important, aside from tight security.

"I have to leave." Caspian kissed Leia on the lips and then left the room, leaving his mate watching his back until he disappeared behind the closed door.

For a moment, Leia just stood there. She caught her reflection in the mirror and saw how ugly she was when she cried. She looked so old, while Caspian remained the same.

Seara woke up with a start and found Leia sitting next to her. She didn’t do anything, simply sat there silently.

She only moved when she saw that Seara was awake. She flashed a small smile, which only made Seara more worried.

"What happened?" Seara could sense the tension in the air and pushed herself into a sitting position. "Something happened?" Her mind immediately went to the worst possible thing that could happen while she was asleep.

"No, there is nothing happening," Leia reassured her, but she was well aware that Seara wouldn’t buy it, and she would know it sooner or later. "I think you want to call Zade before he turns off his phone."

"What do you mean?" Seara didn’t understand what Leia was saying, but she kept looking for her phone nonetheless. "What happened with Zade?"

She found her phone on the nightstand and pressed the speed dial that connected her to Zade’s number.

"Zade and the others went to Wvern City this morning."

"What?" Seara’s hazel eyes filled with horror, but Zade picked up her call on the second ring, and his voice made her anxious. "Where are you?" All of her sleepiness vanished.

Seeing Seara was on the phone with Zade, Leia then left the room. She gave her some space, because whatever Zade was going to say, it wouldn’t prevent Seara from being upset with him.

That man didn’t even come to say anything to her before he left.

"I am on my way to Wvern City," Zade replied. He only came with Caspian and two other warriors because it would be difficult to move if he took more people with him.

"What? What did you say?" Her heart skipped a beat when she heard that. Zade couldn’t be serious, right? He was not stupid; he must be well aware that Wvern City was not safe right now.

"I have to go. Jack shared the information last night, and it turns out they have Altair, too." Zade proceeded to tell Seara everything in detail.

"But why didn’t you come to see me first?" Seara asked. She felt wronged because Zade didn’t even bother to come to her before he left.

"I am sorry. I will see you when I come back."

It was not that Zade didn’t want to see her. Aside from the fact that time was tight, it would be difficult for him to say ’no’ when Seara asked him to stay right now.

"I will be back as soon as possible," Zade said gently. It hurt him to hear Seara crying. She was worried for him, and she wanted to come as well. "You know that’s not possible."

Of course, Seara knew that. She had nothing to offer. If she did come, she would only be a burden, but the thought that Zade was out there, heading toward the base of the humans who had been openly hunting them down, didn’t sit well with her.

"I have to go. I will call you back later."

Zade saw Jack walk toward him. He was alone, and his warriors said they didn’t feel anyone around. They agreed to meet behind the buildings where their king would make a press conference, talking about their stand against the monsters among the people.

"Please, be careful, Zade."

"I will."

Zade then hung up the call and put the phone back into his pocket as he opened the car door and met with Jack.

It had only been a few hours since the last time they met, but Jack looked even more depressed than the time he was being held as a hostage by the shifters.

"How can you get through the security?" Jack asked; he was amazed to see Zade here. He gave short notice after learning about the abrupt press conference and thought it would be a good opportunity for the two leaders to meet.

"I have my own way," Zade replied simply.
