City’s Best Divine Doctor
Chapter 2174 - 2134: Disturbed in the Middle of the Night
Grandpa Hong was ambushed and hit by five bullets, but none of them were directly fatal. However, when he was sent for emergency treatment to the Red Cross Hospital near Chinatown, the emergency doctors discovered that his condition was extremely critical.
After attempting to rescue him for three consecutive hours, they found that he still couldn’t get through the critical period. In this situation, they could only send him to a better hospital in San Francisco for treatment.
Although Grandpa Hong had already washed his hands of the business and retired from the underworld, his prestige was still very high, and his people were still around.
Under these circumstances, whether it was old enemies he had provoked in the past or current gang leaders who felt he was an obstacle to their interests, naturally, they all hoped he would die as soon as possible.
Now the calm Chinatown was like an ocean about to face a storm.
Ye Qiu and Miranda were still being affectionate, while beside them, Xia Jing was awakened and couldn’t fall back asleep, covering her ears there.
Suddenly, there was a knock on the door.
The knock was heard by all three of them, Ye Qiu, Miranda, and Xia Jing.
"Someone’s knocking."
Miranda said.
"I’ll get up and check."
Ye Qiu got up, quickly put on his clothes, and opened the door only to find several Chinese men in black suits.
"Who are you looking for?" Ye Qiu asked coldly.
Getting disturbed in the middle of the night, he was naturally not in a good mood.
"Tonight, Grandpa Wu was ambushed, we’re here to find the culprit." A middle-aged man said.
Grandpa Wu was ambushed?
Ye Qiu quickly thought that it should be the elderly man dressed in a black Tang suit having dinner at the seafood restaurant tonight.
However, this had nothing to do with him.
"I don’t know what you’re looking for. Please leave now and don’t disturb us."
Inside, Xia Jing and Miranda weren’t properly dressed yet, so he definitely couldn’t let these men in.
"Kid, you’d better step aside." The middle-aged man said.
During dinner tonight, the surveillance footage showed Ye Qiu and the two women having a seafood feast there.
Of course, besides the three of them, there were other people as well.
Now, as the middle-aged man and others were about to rush in and search, Ye Qiu knew they had no such authority.
Even if it were law enforcement officers, they wouldn’t have the right to conduct a search without reason.
Moreover, these men in black suits were just a bunch of thugs.
When they tried to force their way in, Ye Qiu acted directly.
Except for the middle-aged man, the other men were all thrown out as if they were rolling away.
Additionally, the middle-aged man’s neck was being held by Ye Qiu, who quietly said, "My woman is inside. I advise you to leave immediately. If you really provoke me, not even Grandpa Hong or Grandpa Da can do anything!"
At that moment, for some reason, the middle-aged man felt somewhat afraid when he saw Ye Qiu’s eyes.
It was clear that this young man couldn’t have ambushed Grandpa Wu, and the shooter was black.
The middle-aged man immediately backed down.
When Ye Qiu let go, the middle-aged man stepped back a few steps. When his men pulled out guns to point at Ye Qiu, the middle-aged man said, "Sorry for disturbing you."
As the middle-aged man led his men away, Ye Qiu was surprised to find himself caught in this situation.
When he closed the door, Xia Jing peeked her head out of the blanket and asked, "Ye Qiu, what’s going on?"
"Probably that old man we were dining near tonight ran into some trouble, and now his men are out searching for the culprit."
Ye Qiu hadn’t seen the shooter himself.
So, he didn’t know.
However, this kind of thing was usually an inside job.
After closing the door, due to the disturbance, Ye Qiu wasn’t in the mood anymore.
After taking a leisurely shower in the bathroom, he told Miranda to take a shower too.
After Miranda finished her shower, she lay down next to Xia Jing to rest.
The next morning.
When Ye Qiu, Miranda, and Xia Jing got up, Xia Jing had a headache. Mainly because she didn’t sleep well last night and got up early this morning.
But Miranda and Ye Qiu felt very energetic, especially Miranda, whose face looked rosy and very spirited after being pampered.
Ye Qiu planned to take the two girls for morning tea at the tea house and then head over to Silicon Valley.
When the three of them had washed up and dressed and were coming down from the hotel, the hotel manager was continuously apologizing to the guests there. Clearly, they couldn’t control what happened last night.
Ye Qiu didn’t bother with them. He held Miranda’s hand and walked out with Xia Jing, finding that Chinatown was still bustling, with many white people, black people, and Asians around.
When they headed to the tea house, Ye Qiu’s phone rang. He checked the unfamiliar number and answered it, realizing it was a call from Robit.
"Mr. Ye, it’s me." Robit said on the other end.
Yesterday, he cleared the Mafia’s high-interest loans, paid the employees’ wages and the office rent, and found himself much more at ease without those debts.
He had made up his mind to accept Ye Qiu’s investment.
"Have you made up your mind?" Ye Qiu asked.
"Mr. Ye, I’ve definitely made up my mind now, and frankly, I have nowhere else to go. The money you gave me yesterday is almost spent. Should I drive over to meet you now?"
Ye Qiu said to meet in Chinatown to discuss.
"If you haven’t had breakfast, you can come over. If you have, we’ll head to Silicon Valley later."
"I’ll come over then," Robit said.
Robit thought Ye Qiu, this young Huaxia second-generation rich, must have a keen eye, otherwise where would he have so much money?
After hanging up the phone.
Ye Qiu and the two women arrived at the tea house from yesterday.
Upstairs, there were quite a few people enjoying tea.
As the three sat down, a newsboy with newspapers came by selling them, at one US dollar each, along with free ones.
Now if you buy one for a dollar, you get a free one too.
"Sir, do you want a newspaper? All the latest news from Chinatown."
The newsboy said.
Ye Qiu didn’t really want to read any newspaper but suddenly saw a headline in the San Francisco Chinese Daily showing the news about Grandpa Wu being ambushed and shot.
"Give me one," letting Miranda give a dollar coin to the boy, Ye Qiu took the paper and carefully read the report.
Regarding Grandpa Wu’s identity, Ye Qiu realized he was indeed not simple.
Besides having a high status in the American Chinese community, he also had very good relations with Huaxia.
