Chapter 755: Clash II

Black Marrow Lightning
I cast another spell, more powerful than the Carrion Spear.
A Large black bolt of lightning materialized, it is thick and large. It will kill any Lv. 40 warrior, if it struck them directly.
At the same time, four of my special undead went toward him.
Three of them are heavy armoured skeletons, formed from the bones of Lv. 40 beasts. I had shaped them myself and strengthened them with spells and alchemy.
The fourth one is a pure Lv. 40 undead. It’s tough to get the complete body.
In the battle, the focus is on killing the enemy. The higher the level, the harder they are to kill. Even serious injuries are not enough to finish them.
By the time one finished with them, barely anything remained of them.
The lightning moved fast and appeared in front of Silver. He immediately swung his sword toward it.
I have access to information on thousands of artifacts, but I haven’t read about or even heard of this one. There is not a single one that matches its appearance.
It is giving me a feeling that I have not gotten from any artifact before.
That does not make me feel good. Mainly, I didn’t like the way it had dealt with the spell. I have seen clearly how the blade had cut and collapsed the structure of my spell.
The lightning appeared in front of him, and he swung his blade again.
Clang!
The blade and lightning clashed. For a moment, it seemed to push Silver back, when that blade began to cut through it, as it did, the spell started to collapse.
Soon, the whole spell had collapsed.
I was looking at it when I saw three people moving forward to stop my special undead.
Black Marrow Lightning
I immediately sent the lightning toward them. The undead could deal with those three, but I want them to deal with Silver, not waste time dealing with pests.
I thought they would move defensively and cast a defensive spell, but they barely looked at it.
Silver also didn’t move toward them. Instead, he is coming toward me.
I didn’t like it. I was thinking that, when a shimmering rectangular shield of shining thick iron metal dust appeared in front of the lightning.
Seeing it, my eyes couldn’t help but widen.
Bang!
The lightning clashed against it and spread through the metal dust, where it broke and fought with the light energy.
It’s Shimmerfield Wall, another fusion spell of metal and light element.
I wanted to launch another spell, but saw Silver getting too close. I do not fear him, but it is idiocy to let a warrior get close.
“You are good, better than I had expected,” I said to him as my staff lit up.
I had expected him to be Lv. 40; first-generation masters of Grade IV legacies are, but I didn’t expect him to be this powerful.
I am experienced enough to understand the power of an artifact and master a lot.
“You are not as good as I heard,” he replied, and I smiled. I am not angry at it, because it’s the truth. I barely showed any of my power.
I didn’t want to do that until I fought Grimvale, but seeing that there is no choice, I will do it.
A moment later, my first real attack materialized.
First, the bone wave appeared, with thousands of bones moving toward Silver, while three Black Marrow Lightnings simultaneously converged on him.
I had also used the Veil Piercer’s Gaze to search for that High-Mage who is casting fusion spells.
…
I saw the Bone Wave coming toward me, thousands of sharp bones. If I had gotten caught in it. Forget me, even the horse would get torn into pieces.
That wasn’t the only thing coming at me. Three powerful Black Marrow Lightning are also coming toward me.
They are fast and, most importantly. They are coming from three sides simultaneously. I cannot defend with the speed my blade has.
I didn’t panic and turned to the horse with Command Projection.
Neigh!
It neighed and moved forward, even faster than before. I could see the surprise in the necromancer’s eyes as I moved toward the attacks.
When we were just meters away from the wave, the horse leaped into the air.
It is not only fast, but it can also jump very high. It just did that, but it also brought me eye to eye with the lightning spells.
I swung my sword toward them with the Blade of Gale, which makes the blade faster, and Mauling Strike, which provides the power, but it’s not the power I need.
I have enough power, but not speed. I will be able to defend against two, but not the third spell.
‘I am glad I chose this to fill the second slot of copy skills,’ I thought. Activating Lash of Grace. It’s Jenna’s skill, from her Dancer Class, which had now merged with her main class.
My sword seemed to slow down as I activated the skills. It becomes visible and graceful, allowing people to see the movement clearly.
Rip Rip Rip!
Though it had reached the first lightning instantly and cut through it, before cutting through the second one, and then the third.
Velvet Repel is a good skill, but it is not particularly useful when fighting in my domain.
I thought deeply about the skills I could use against the undead. Studied it with the spells and the fighting style of the necromancer.
Velvet Repel wouldn’t be able to defend against Grade V spells without the aura.
It’s not the only thing I have for my defense. If needed, I could use the fusion spells to defend.
Most importantly, this skill increases my lethality.
I may say, I only want to survive the battle, but that’s not the only thing I want.
When I had said to my men that I would make sure the undead would think a hundred times before attacking the city. I wasn’t just saying that to boost morale.
No, I truly meant what I had said.
I have already done some of the work by vaporising over 80% of the horde by alchemist’s fire, but that is not enough.
My rapier cut through all three spells, collapsing them.
I could see the surprise and anger in the eyes of the Necromancer, and its staff lit up. Sharp bones begin to rise out of the ground, from where we will land, and hundreds of bone spears materialize in the sky.
“Die!” he said, and a Volley of Bones came toward me, while it began to retreat within his undead horde.
I focused on him, leaving the horse to deal with the long bone spikes that we were about to land on.
The volley of hundreds of bone spears came toward me. It is scary; Great Mages are terrifying, but I didn’t let that fear make me panic.
I remained calm and swung the rapier toward them, while at the same time, concentrating my will even more on the blade. The finer it is, the more powerful it will become.
Rip Rip Rip!
My sword began to cut through the bones and spears, and I saw that I didn’t have to cut them all the way. As long as you start to cut through them, their structure will collapse.
I cut through tens of them, but there are too many, and some slipped toward me.
Rip!
I moved around a little, dodging a few, but they cut through me at the waist.
The cut wasn’t small, but it’s not big either.
While I was doing that, the lightning blazed across the horse’s legs and shot toward the ground in front, destroying many spikes and spears coming toward it.
The lightning isn’t only for the speed. It’s a very dangerous attack, as powerful as a Grade IV spell.
Thud!
It landed on the ground and released the arcs, destroying the remaining bones.
There are some tiny ones that it was not able to destroy, but that’s what those thick bronze scales covering its legs are for.
I destroyed the last of the spears, but only to see five Carrion Lances in front of me. I moved my sword toward them without hesitation.
I destroyed two, and I only need to eliminate two more. The fifth one, I could avoid.
I was moving my sword to deal with the third lance when my expression changed as I sensed a very powerful attack coming toward me.
Soul spell.
They are the most dangerous kind of spells that Necromancers have in their arsenal. It’s difficult to defend against them.
They are invisible, and one usually couldn’t sense them before it is too late.
Also, the skills to defend against them are very rare. There are spells, but they are also very hard, with Necromancers and Liches being the masters of them.
The only reason I felt the attack immediately was that we are fighting in my domain.
I didn’t stop and cut through the Carrion Lances when the soul spell touched me.
A moment later, shock appeared in the eyes of the necromancer.
I had said that the blade can cut through magic and collapse their structure. I had meant nearly all magic, including the soul spell.
I didn’t move my sword, but I had used its power to cut through the necromancer’s soul spell.
…
Tamal Wraithhearth
I felt my spell cut and its collapse.
Some artifacts could cut through spells, and some rare ones could cut through soul spells as well, but there are very few in the world that cut through both.
‘Where did he get that sword?’ I asked, but pushed away that thought.
Seeing what he did made me want to kill him even more, and I changed my mind about my earlier strategy to deal with him.
I have more potent spells, but I want to use something even stronger.
I thought only Grimvale would force me to use it. I never even imagined Silver would be able to do that.
I have confidence in defeating him with my strong spells, but I want to finish him sooner and get my hands on that artifact.
So, I brought out my strongest card: my aura.
It burst out of my body, and Silver’s expression turned sombre. I grinned through my mask. I didn’t want to use it, but since I am doing it, there is no way he will survive.
The next second, Carrion Lances appeared once more, but the moment they did, I saw an expression on Silver’s face that turned serious.
The aura method of warriors is different from the aura methods of us mages.
Compared to ours, they are pedestrian.
Our methods work on the structure and power of the spell. Shape the spell’s form and even behaviour. Change its tempo, strength, and scope.
We can make unlimited changes through the spells, depending on the methods we are using.
My aura method is called Veil of Dusk. It is one of the best aura methods for necromancers. I want to see how his blade could cut through it, because aura is not magic.
