Chapter 754: Clash I

“Charge!”
He roared with the black and white long blade pointing toward me, and came charging toward us with his little army.
It was a pathetic little army before, but not anymore. The bastard had destroyed my horde, killed powerhouses. Leaving us with less than 15% of our numbers.
I tried my hardest, but I wasn’t able to save more.
I calmed myself and focused on the spell. That had materialised and went toward Silver.
Bone Tempest!
The tempest of hundreds of sharp bones went toward Silver, behind it, hundreds of spells from Grade I to Grade IV. All are moving toward Silver’s army.
It will decimate him and those around him.
While he is coming, so is the hail of cannonballs, ballistas, spells, and arrows.
Still, we bear the advantage, but despite that, I am feeling that it wouldn’t be enough to crush him.
Well, I have more.
“Don’t waste any time. Kill the elder blood first and cleave through the others,” I said to Lionrian. It’s bad what happened, but it has given him the edge.
Making his most hated skill very powerful.
I wanted to laugh because no one here could harm him. Making that skill quite useless, despite it becoming very powerful.
“I will,” he replied. He is angry; everyone is.
There will be punishment for what has happened. The destruction of a Great horde is no joke, but before we received it, we had to conquer Greltheaven and take control of the legacy and those five artifacts.
Bang Bang Bang!
The spells and cannons clashed against each other, but our spells, led by mine, crushed through the enemy’s volley and descended on them.
They moved to defend as we drove to defend against some of their cannonballs, and spells came at us.
Bang Bang Bang!
The shields appeared and defended, but nothing moved to intercept my spell.
Finally, there were a few meters between it and Silver when a large, muddy wall appeared in the sky in front of my spell.
“Is that?” asked Lionrian, shocked. “Fusion spell,” I replied, with my expression becoming bad.
It’s clearly a fusion spell. They are one of the most complex spells to cast, but if done well. They could jump the levels.
I recognize the fusion spell. It is Harats Curtain. Made from a combination of three water and earth elemental Grade IV spells.
Bang!
The bone tempest crashed against it, but not a single bone was able to pierce through it.
It didn’t make me feel good. I turned to Lionrian, and his expression had become serious as well. Those alchfire orbs aren’t the only ones they have.
I couldn’t sense the mage who had cast the spell. They have hidden well.
“Finish Silver fast, and his army would crumble on its own,” said Lionrian, and I nodded. I should focus on Silver alone. Once I finished with him, dealing with others would be easier.
Though it wouldn’t come to that. Once the leader is finished, the army crumbles.
So, that’s what I did. I targeted him.
…
‘Carrion Lance!’
I saw the lance of rotting flesh and bones twice as large as my rapier coming toward me.
It made me feel relieved.
We do not have much emotional essence, and every spell we cast through it comes at a cost. So, we can’t just cast the spells whenever we wish; every spell would need to be thought out.
Till yesterday, the plan was different, but this blade has cast that plan into disarray.
We wanted to blast these bastards with the fusion spells until we could either kill them or make them retreat. Now, we couldn’t do that.
We need the emotional essence for Caena’s spell; the artifacts and spells to save the lives.
So, now I have to make sure this blade in my hand does its part with all the essence it has consumed, and I am glad that he is targeting me, instead of launching an area-wide attack like earlier.
That would have a significant cost, as each fusion spell would have consumed the essence.
I pushed those thoughts away and looked at the enemy. There were only a few hundred meters between us.
I activated the Still Mind, an advanced form of Focus, which is from Margaux. Many people undervalue it, especially in battle, but I like it a lot.
Now that I had two slots in Copy Skill, I had brought it back.
The moment I activated it. All distracting thoughts faded in the background. Letting my mind focus on what is essential.
Then I activated Strength of Harmony. The moment I activated it, it enhanced me. Not just the strength, but also my mental attributes, which strengthened the Focus.
It also filled me with energy.
It is still a skill that advanced from Energizing Essence; that aspect has now become even stronger than before.
As the strength and energy filled my body, I activated the Blade of Gale and Mauling Strike as I swung my sword, while keeping Calm Touch and Rein Flow active on the monster.
The attack had scared him, but he didn’t run or react badly, which relieved me.
I need it to be as calm as possible.
My blade moved toward the big, ugly lance as I tried to apply suppression, which turned into a fine layer around the blade. That will be the first move, and I will integrate it into my attack.
The spars helped me understand some aspects of it, and the vision gave me a few more hints.
Bell had said, I should focus on enhancements, and this weapon could give me considerable enhancements, but I am going to focus on the suppression for now.
I think suppression is the best bet and has great potential, considering what I have seen in the vision.
By the time the Carrion Lance was an inch away. I was able to control and concentrate the suppression around the blade of the rapier.
Clang!
Finally, the rapier clashed against the Carrion Lance, and I felt the massive force of it.
I had expected it, I had felt the attack’s power since it is in my domain, but I still underestimated its power and the momentum of the clash.
Even with the Strength of Harmony and enhancements from the invisible scripts, I felt like my bones would break. This is the power of a Grade V spell.
It would have been a little better if I had been on the ground instead of a horse.
Rip!
It lasted only for a fraction of a second before the darker than the night blade of my rapier began to cut through the Carrion Lance.
As it did, the structure of the spell began to collapse.
The darker than night blade has the ability to cut through any magic, while the suppression is a type that specializes in collapsing the structure of the spell.
I had seen what it could do in the vision.
That massive lightning bolt, powerful enough to kill any grand mage, collapsed meters above the massive head. It couldn’t even reach close to it, much less touch it.
The suppression collapsed such a powerful attack, as if it were nothing.
I turned to the necromancer and saw the shock in his eyes, before they turned cold with freezing anger, and he launched another Grade V spell, stronger than the Carrion Lance.
It is not the only thing; he had also sent his four armored special undead toward me.
…
Thaddeus Stone
I saw the enemy riding toward me; I thought, I will have to go to him, but he is coming toward me.
Knight Lionrian.
I had participated in the battle; this man had led and understood the grave danger he represented to my army. Now, my job is to hold him back.
Hold him back till the spell is ready.
I didn’t waste any moment and activated the power of the bronze giant within me. It came out, and I began to change. Getting bigger with strength and power, filling every inch of me.
It took barely a few seconds for me to reach seven feet tall from five and a half.
That was my real height, before the elder blood rose inside me. I was quite short, an average soldier working for the local noble. I was content with that.
I finished the transformation and looked at the halberd. It is now adjusting to my size. It felt small compared to my giant size, before, when it was rusted and unrestored.
Now, it adjusts to any size I want.
I poured the elder power into the halberd, and it drank greedily. It hungers for it, and more than emotion essence, which is getting supplied to it.
As long as I am in the domain of legacy. I do not need to worry about the power for the artifact.
It is only a slight advantage. It will grow larger as the battle progresses, but it’s not what I want.
Even after we vaporized over 80% of them, they still held the advantage of numbers and powerhouses over us. We need to finish them as soon as possible, or more of our people will die.
“Surrender and I will spare you, elder blood,” Knight said, with his pale violet eyes boring into me.
“No,” I replied.
“Death, it is then!” he said matter-of-factly.
The next moment, his beast accelerated, while he raised his sword and activated his skills that sent a quake through my heart.
…
Nicolle Azalia
Thud!
He jumped from his beast and landed in front of us, with a grin on his scarred face.
His injuries healed, but pale scars remained. If it had been injuries from a common fire, they would have healed, but they did not.
“Two artifacts, this feels like my birthday,” he said, grinning as he walked toward us.
His walk is like a predator. Full of confidence, more than the last time. Looking at him, it seemed like the defeat hadn’t affected him at all, until one looked into his eyes.
They are filled with rage.
“You had said the same thing last time, but ran away like a coward in the end,” I replied.
I could see the anger nearly bursting out of his eyes before he controlled himself.
“I am going to have great fun, in torturing you, bitch!” he said and became a blur. He is much faster and more powerful than before.
Immediately, Thomlin moved while I remained in my spot. He is fast, nearly as fast as Yark with his speed skill, invisible scripts, and enhancement from the Belt of Tethered Fang.
Two of us are going to fight Yark together. Our goal is not to kill him; doing that would be ideal, but we need to be realistic with our goal.
That is keeping him occupied.
It would be extremely hard, even with the artifacts. The man is Lv. 40 powerhouse and has a very powerful class, which has become even more potent with the advancement.
We will do it, no matter the cost.
…
Barb Utsa
Whoosh!
The fires bloomed, burning the undead around me. It is not the fire from me, but from The Embers.
It is their first battle, and I am scared for them, but they have made the decision and passed every test to participate in the battle.
“We are close, be careful,” warned Hugo as we burned and tore through the undead.
We are working swiftly and smoothly. We have practiced it many times.
Hugo is leading the group, and we are tearing through the undead. There are only a few units that could be compared to us here.
“Careful,” I said to Nerissa when she nearly stumbled over the body of the undead.
She nodded embarrassingly, but quickly moved into formation and breathed out another round of fire.
I am also breathing out the fire, and my fire is stronger than ever. The scrips Eudo had laid on me and the Embers are powerful.
Many others also have scripts applied, but our classes are aligned with the legacy. The enhancement we gain from it is much greater than that of others.
Although we also have another boost, this one comes directly from the legacy.
Carla said it is a boost due to our faith in the Velvet Garden. She called the skill Faithwrought and said it is the most dangerous skill.
I could imagine. One only needs to be aligned with the legacy and have a belief in it.
Currently, it is open to only a few. Still, Carla said that it will be open to all in a restricted capacity soon —hundreds of people, which is already a massive deal, and it would become terrifying when the numbers reach the thousands.
I pushed away those thoughts and breathed out the fire once more.
The undead burned within my fire, opening the way toward the enemies. They were coming for us, the mages, liches, warriors, and the undead.
They are not common undead, but special undead. Many of them are double and triple our size.
“Attack!” Hugo commanded, and we moved toward them.
Our job is to kill them as soon as possible and move toward others. There are too many powerhouses, and they could do massive damage.
I was moving toward the enemies when I sensed something.
The girls may have a mark, but I am a pillar. When I got it, I was told a few secrets. Shocking secrets; it’s how I know they burned the undead with alchemical fire.
It is why I am not worried about my supply of liquor in this battle.
“Assassins!” I warned immediately and turned, before breathing out the fire. Not just liquor, but the cocktail of liquor and the alcohol produced by my own body through Power Brew.
She became visible, and seeing her, hate burned in vengeance. She is the one who killed Onaz.
I thought she would retreat, but to my shock. She swung her blue dagger toward the fire, parting it with the misty blue arc.
Artifact!
I have been informed earlier that the assassin has it, and now I have seen it.
“Whore, I will kill you,” she said, coming at me. “Not before, I will kill you,” I replied and moved toward her with Gracefire Glide.
I heard the warning in my mind from Hugo as well as Bell, but that didn’t stop. I want to kill her like I never wanted to kill anyone.
Not even that bastard Bryndor when he was destroying what is beloved to me.
Legacy was just the building; this woman had killed my sister. I will not stop until I kill her.
