Chapter 740: Throne
Proofread by Thomas F
I looked at my skills for a brief moment before pushing them away.
It’s the last thing I wanted to do. I want to test out my new skills and the changes that have occurred in my core and the planets, but first, I have to attend to something important.
I looked at the man in front of me, frozen in his place.
It seemed to affect him a lot. It confused me at first; a warrior like him should recover in a moment. However, looking at him, I could sense his emotions.
I had to concentrate hard before, but now I do not. Most people wouldn’t be able to guard themselves from me.
It is trauma, he is feeling; all the emotions I am sensing from it suggest that. Fear, panic, numbness, along with a few more, are standard emotions of trauma.
There are a few things that could traumatize a man like him, but seeing what triggered it, I could only think of one incident.
That woman is powerful enough to traumatize even him. I felt pity for him, but my anger was far greater.
“Adran Bryndon, you have broken the greatest laws of Velvet Garden,” I said to him, making him break out of the trauma.
“You have injured the staff of the Velvet Garden, tried to force yourself on another, and damaged it materially.”
“As the lord of Velvet Garden. I order your arrest to be judged for your crimes and hope you will not resist,” I stated, with my voice reverberating through not only the floor, but through the legacy.
“Hahahaha….”
For a moment, he didn’t speak at all, before he suddenly started laughing and laughing hard.
Even his men laughed, some as hard as he, while others. Only a few kept their expressions serious. “That was really a good joke,” he said, wiping away his eyes, before turning to me.
“Do you think, just because your legacy advanced, you will be able to beat me?” he asked with a mocking smile.
“You were a puny little thing to me before and are still a puny little thing to me now!” he stated, raising his saber forward with an aura blasting off his body, with jasper-red aura blades beginning to form around him.
I didn’t say anything, looked at him, his artifact, and the aura blades around him, and shook my head.
The next second, I brought down the pressure of Velvet Garden on him. It’s not the Velvet Garden, the common legacy, but the Velvet Garden, the throne.
Immediately, his expressions changed drastically, and his whole body shook, and his knees began to buckle, while people watched in shock.
“Bastard!” he cursed with gritted teeth and sent his aura blades toward me.
Crack Crack Crack …Bang!
They have moved when the cracks begin to appear on them, before they shatter into pieces as they reach a few inches away from me.
I could see the shock, but he reacted fast and pushed for more power from his artifact.
The suppression of Rhidon’s Vitae descended on it. The saber is a powerful artifact, but Rhidon’s Vitae is even more powerful. It’s an artifact that no one can operate for long with their power.
Immediately, the artifact suppresses it so that he can barely draw any power.
“Since you are resisting, you leave me no choice,” I said, and the next second. Full pressure of the Velvet Garden descended on him.
Earlier, I only used half of the pressure, but now it’s at full capacity.
Thuds!
His eyes became wide as a saucer, and his aura exploded further, but its efforts were like a dinghy in a tsunami. It was crushed instantly, and he fell to his knees.
“Chief, arrest him and hand him over to the police,” I ordered Stena. Commissioner Julian had just reached the park and would be in front of the tower within a minute.
“You dare!” screamed the half-elf with a staff. I looked at him and the next second. He fell, not on his knees, but on his face, his whole body flat.
He is not Adran Bryndom. The man might be a bastard, but he has a strong will, not to mention the levels.
Stena walked toward me, and a surprise appeared on her face. She is a part of the legacy, but she never received access. Now she did, the chief of security deserves it.
“Lord Silver, please calm down,” said one of Bryndon’s men calmly.
I turned to him, and I could see the man shuddering, but he didn’t look away.
“Commander had made a mistake, but I am sure we could reach a compromise. There is no need to arrest him,” he said, and I shook my head.
“He trampled on the dignity of my employees. Damaged my legacy. Believe me, I am showing extreme self-restraint by only arresting him,” I replied to the man.
The man opened his mouth again, but shook as I applied a little pressure. If he speaks another word, the pressure of Velvet Garden will descend on him.
He understood it and closed his mouth, and I turned to Bryndom, before moving my eyes to his saber.
“No!” he screamed through gritted teeth as he resisted and was able to resist for a few seconds, before the saber left his hand and came floating toward me.
A wooden box appeared in front of it, and I put it in before the box disappeared.
It’s a powerful weapon, I wish I could keep it, but this is not something I could keep. He may be using it, but it’s not his artifact.
It belongs to the merchants.
Stena appeared beside him, and a large enchanted harness-like thing appeared in front of him. Seeing it, he resisted even harder, but he could barely move even a hand.
Without the artifact, his options become even more limited. Now he only has aura, which I am effectively suppressing.
The thing in front of me is a restraining harness—the most powerful. We only have one, and now I am going to put it on him.
It will restrain him. If we arrest him without it, he could do massive harm to us.
There is something for the aura in it. This makes this thing very expensive, but it will make things much safer.
He tried to resist, but the harness moved around him. One runic latch after another closed, till it had fully enveloped him, before activating.
“I am sure you understand what this is and hope you won’t try anything,” I warned him, and looked at his men with the same warning.
“I will not forget it. You will pay for this, Silver!” he cursed as Stena lifted him.
I didn’t even reply, I just looked at him, while Stena and her men headed toward the exit.
“Archmage wants to talk to you and many more people,” informed Zela as she appeared beside me. “Connect me with the Archmage first, I will talk to the rest later,” I replied.
A few seconds later, I am talking to the Archmage.
When legacy is born or advances from Grade I to Grade III. Great Mage, the second in command, congratulates, but at advancement to the throne, the archmage calls.
The call didn’t last for long. It’s over in a minute.
Tomorrow, I will get the title that will make me a world noble; it’s a title accepted in every kingdom, empire, and city. It’s a synod title that is bestowed by the continental synod and accepted by all, including all the spirits and the titans.
The call finished, and I looked down. I saw Stena handing Adran Bryndon to Commissioner Julian and his team, while hundreds watched.
I will be keeping an eye. If he or his men did something, then they would face consequences that would make them shudder in terror for the rest of their lives.
…
Ashton Harbor
“… I understand, we paid a great price for the truce with the merchants, your excellency, and promise you that by the end of the third day, Greltheaven will be ours as well as the Velvet Garden,” I said.
“You have failed enough times. Failures will not be tolerated any further,” stated the woman on the other side, before cutting the call.
“Anything new?” asked the man sitting in front of me. “No, just the threat,” I replied. “They want the Greltheaven and the throne and will not tolerate the failure this time,” he added.
“It’s advancement to Grade IV changes nothing. He might receive a few more weapons, but that’s all,” replied the man.
“Even if we only sent the horde, we would have guaranteed victory. What I am worried about is Grimvale; we will have to refine our strategy further for the absolute victory against him.”
I nodded. I understand that, but I am worried. It was advancing into the throne and had increased the pressure.
Now they want it even more.
The throne would greatly benefit the kingdom. Especially as big as Velvet Garden has undoubtedly become, it has grown even bigger this time with this advancement.
“I am not worried about Grimvale too much. Even if the two bastards join him, it wouldn’t change things,” I replied.
I had crushed the lords like him. Yes, he is powerful, but so were they.
“How is Yark doing?” I asked. “Better than I thought. The flame of revenge is making him work hard,” replied the man.
“Good. He will be instrumental in crushing Grimvales’s forces,” I replied.
His advancement was amazing news. Many wanted me to send him back to the island, as things were not advancing quickly there, and they were preparing another push in a few weeks, but I resisted.
As long as I conquered the region. He will be with me here; such people are needed to manage such a big region.
Especially when big secrets are involved, which the higher-ups are guarding so zealously. They hinted that they might tell me about it if I conquered the region.
I will, and I plan to do it within a week. I will be leading the force personally, crushing anything that dares to resist.
