Child of Destiny

Chapter 2169 - 2169: Demons on the Move

Lesser Kingdom of Juron, Oath City.

More and more experts were gathering in this place, particularly those from the top guilds and large organizations within the game.

Quite a lot of strong Titled Rankers and famous Maverick Rankers had already been seen by multiple people, while some Godlike Players and Maverick Gods had also made their appearance from time to time.

The longer this dragged on, the more serious it became.

There was still no sight of Powerhouse Guilds and Super Guilds, or even their experts, but their subordinate powers were already making their presence known to everyone.

There were even famous adventurer teams and mercenary groups becoming active in the vicinity of the city, making sure others learned of their presence.

While everyone was feeling the tension in the air, a news suddenly shook the entire kingdom.

The Rise Guild, which was the center of the storm looming throughout the kingdom, was suddenly disbanded.

Moreover, before it happened, it was said that there was a meeting between all the higher-ups of the guild.

Then, out of everyone’s expectations, the Guild Leader and the said Shadow Leader had erupted and started slaughtering everyone.

Moreover, it was not just a simple slaughter. Before it had even begun, the Guild Leader Felix had used some sort of scroll that released an extremely horrifying curse.

This curse not only let everyone lose twenty levels upon being killed, but they would also be put in a weakening curse for an entire month (real-world time) whenever they logged in.

With such a powerful curse, catching up with the mainstream players would be extremely hard, putting them in a hopeless situation.

The weakening curse alone would make it impossible for them to hunt in the wild, much less do the troublesome quests that they had pending.

Given their previous levels, doing those highly difficult quests would be extremely hard, much less recover their previous levels.

Aside from the massive drop in their levels, all their equipment was also dropped during the slaughter before being collected by Felix and Felicia, leaving them completely naked.

Losing their levels was one thing, but losing their equipment on top of that was even more terrifying, especially when most of that equipment was of decent quality.

Trying to recover from their current situation would be nearly impossible, especially since the guild itself was disbanded right after.

What made those higher-ups even worse was the fact that all the ordinary members and those from the elite unit were compensated properly according to the contract.

On the other hand, they were all thrown away like a bunch of trash, especially when they were ‘accused’ of breach of contract due to their working with outsiders to overthrow their current guild leader.

Moreover, Felix had even collected enough evidence to present to the system, making it irrefutable. This also gave him the right to punish everyone, which was why they were all slaughtered without mercy.

Somewhere in the depths of the wilderness near the Oath City.

A group of suspicious people was currently gathered, seemingly plotting something.

“That Felix is quite ruthless, Hehe,” one of the hooded figures chuckled after reading through the reports that were being given to them.

“It is to be expected given that those idiots have pushed them a bit too hard,” said another, seemingly a bit nonchalant about the current situation.

“So, what are we going to do now? We have lost track of Felix and Felicia, so getting our hands on the key will be much harder to deal with,” said a person sitting lazily on a boulder.

“Don’t worry. We already have the location of that portal anyway, so there is no need to rely on that trash for more information,” said a feminine voice. “All we have to do is wait for those two to reach that place and steal the key from them.”

“Agata has a point,” said the lazy person, who was now lying on the boulder. “So, we can just wait here and deal with them later.”

“Felix is not much of a problem since anyone among us can deal with him,” said the first person before quickly adding with a heavy tone. “But Felicia is the real trouble. We do not have much information about her, much less her class and race. Trying to deal with her without any information is going to be quite troublesome even for us.”

“All we know about her is that she is at the level of a Maverick God. But her exact strength is still a mystery. Is she as strong as those gods at the top or just a regular one?” he added with a heavy tone.

“Hah! What is there to worry about?” said the lazy person before quickly adding. “We both have Agata and Henrick, both of them are at the level of Grand Heretics with our Demonic Church, so there is not much to worry about.”

Hearing this, the group could not help but turn to Agata and Henrick.

Both were currently hidden under their cloaks, but it was still noticeable how dangerous they were, given the dark aura that they were passively emitting.

Clap!

Agata walked forward and spoke. “There is no time to waste. Let’s get in position before those two get here! We need to prepare thoroughly before the situation could even turn uglier.”

“Even though I am confident in myself, we still can’t underestimate those two. After all, the orders directly come from the higher-ups, so we do not want to mess this up,” she added.

Swoosh! Swoosh! Swoosh!

Without further ado, the three immediately moved and went to their respective positions, leaving both Agata and Henrick behind.

“You are planning to use those guys as cannon fodder, huh?” Henrick, who kept his silence up until now, finally opened his mouth.

“Heh! Those idiots think that this will be a good opportunity to earn themselves great merit within the church, so luring them here will not be a problem,” she giggled after looking in the direction where the others disappeared.

“Mobilizing an entire unit of Demonic Players is extremely hard, especially when the portal that leads to Hell Realm is now open.”

“Unfortunately, only those that has been granted an entry pass by the Pandemonium Descendants can enter due to their huge contribution when opening it.”

She then started frowning deeply while complaining. “It is going to be extremely hard for us to get that pass since we do not belong to any organization within the Demonic Churches.”

“Moreover, we are from the Church of Terror, which does not belong to any of the internal factions within the Demonic Churches, so getting any support from the others will be extremely hard.”

“Aside from that, most of the internal factions are secretly competing with each other, so there is no one we can trust.”

“These idiots are only a bunch of nobodies within the Demonic Churches, so they are not aware of the true nature of the entirety of the Evil Faction.”

“Since they have no other uses anyway, let’s just let them test the waters for us,” she smirked.

Henrick slightly nodded his head after listening to her before adding. “Based on the information that we have gathered, this portal is most likely related to the Realm of the Ocean Depths, one of the Realms that can give the players an ocean mount.”

Hearing this, Agata could not help but frown and ask. “Is that information even reliable?”

Henrick seemed to have smirked when he heard her doubt his words before continuing. “It is one hundred percent reliable.”

“The quest is supposed to be released to more than a few people. Felicia is just a bit lucky due to her stumbling upon a certain piece of information that leads her to a crucial part of the quest.”

“The other people who have also triggered the initial part of the questline have already sold this information to information merchants and other huge organizations. This is the main reason why none of the true big shots have made their appearance up until now.”

“They must be moving in secrecy like us while using those subordinates of theirs as a smoke screen to distract the others.”

“Maybe later, we will bump into some scary titans and gods during the final battle,” he added while chuckling.

“Hmph!” Agata squinted her eyes when she heard this before saying. “If that is truly the case, then we can just initiate the sacrificial ceremony that the leader has instructed us. If we are successful, then we can also use this opportunity to summon a demon portal of our own!”

Henrick was quite tempted when he heard this, but he quickly shook his head, understanding that their chances of achieving that would be quite low. “It is good to be optimistic, but we have to be real here.”

“Aside from a lot of ‘sacrificial materials’, we have nothing else that can help us summon a Demon Portal,” he paused for a moment before quickly adding. “That is, unless the big boss joins us with this operation.”
