Chapter 2123 - 2123: An Old Friend? (Part 3)
……
Lucifer’s eyes suddenly contracted after seeing the sudden appearance of this person. He had never sensed the other party until they made their appearance.
If not for the treasure that he was wearing to protect himself, which would also instantly launch an immediate counter, then he would have most likely been killed by this person.
The other party seemed to have realized this as well, which was why they did not launch an ambush earlier and chose to stop him like this instead.
Looking at the other party, Lucifer squinted his eyes and mumbled. “David Solomon, the Wanderer and disciple of the Celestial Phoenix.”
Swoosh!
He then flipped his wrist, freeing himself from the grip of the opposing party. He then disappeared from this spot and appeared a dozen meters away.
David slightly raised his brows, thinking of how the opposing party managed to escape from him that easily.
“This guy is more troublesome than I have expected,” he mumbled before turning to Wade. “Are you alright?”
“Huff! Huff!” Wade was unable to respond because he was doing his best to catch his breath and adjust his mood.
“That was close. If not for me being around, then your soul would have likely been devoured by that guy,” said David before turning toward Lucifer once again.
“I know that there are still quite a few spies hidden within the Ace City, but I do not expect that there are this many,” he mumbled while sweeping his gaze at the surroundings along with Enlightened Eyes.
He was able to spot the multiple figures hiding in the dark and seemingly observing what was happening on this side.
“Given that these guys managed to dodge the security measures throughout the academy, then there was a high chance that most of these guys are either students or faculty members,” he added after giving it a bit of thought.
Turning his gaze back to Lucifer, David could not help but ask. “Are you not afraid that you will be captured here?”
“As a part of the Limitless Savant, I am sure your master will do everything he can to retrieve you,” he added, along with a ridiculing tone. “However, from what I know, your master is currently missing. Most likely captured by those sly snakes from the Black Serpent Mafia.”
“Or-… the one that has been captured is one of the clones that have been created before as a prototype for the Limitless Vessels,” he continued while squinting his eyes.
This was information that he had gotten from his master, so he was sure about their reliability. However, there were still a few things that they did not know, which was why he was trying to see if he could get any useful information from this guy.
However, he could not help but feel disappointed when the other party showed no reaction.
Even his Enlightened Eyes were unable to see through the disguise of the opposing party, much less use them to read their thoughts.
Swoosh! Swoosh! Swoosh!
Not long after, a bunch of people with the same hooded cloaks appeared behind Lucifer and added.
“Young Master, we have to leave now. The Academy has been alerted much earlier than we had expected. Some of our agents have already been captured,” said one of them, urging Lucifer to retreat.
Lucifer could not help but turn to David before shifting his gaze toward Wade, who was still trying to recover himself.
“I see. So you are using that guy to lure us from the beginning. No wonder those guys presented such an alluring proposal. It turns out they have been monitored as well,” said Lucifer while looking at David.
David just shrugged his shoulders as he replied. “This guy’s special ability is an artificial talent, so it is not hard to guess where such a thing comes from.”
“This kid’s father is either one of those escaped researchers from the Project Genius or at least related to one. However, given the meticulous planning and the long and steady process to achieve such a result, it is most likely the latter case.”
“His father must have stumbled upon one of the research papers that had gone missing during that time and got an inspiration from the initial discovery of the Hyperactive Immersion to perfect the research.”
“Such a case is not that new after all,” added David, not denying the fact that they had used Wade to lure these people out from the dark.
“Given that you are extremely interested in his newly found abilities, then it must be one of the missing parts of the most important section of the most classified project at that time.”
He then paused for a moment to turn to Wade before continuing. “I heard that among the sub-projects of the ‘Project Genius’, there are two to three projects that stood out among the rest.”
“And one of them is called the ‘Project Savant’. It is a research project that is intending to ‘revive’ one of the pinnacle talents that has been lost through time, the Limitless Savant.”
“Before the Heavenly Demon had created the ‘Godly Intuition’ by combining the ‘Ultra Instincts’ and ‘Pinnacle Omniscience’ Talents and made it the strongest talent among all, the ‘Limitless Savant’ is said to be the peak among all talents alongside ‘Clairvoyance’.”
“I guess, you have been eyeing this kid since the very start and planning to rob his talents from him, huh? So much for calling him a ‘friend’,” added David, along with a ridiculing tone.
David was extremely familiar with the methods of the ‘Ancient Demonic Codex’, especially when it was the Demonic Arts that Adam’s so-called rival mastered.
The Great Demon Jan Meteo had not only made himself famous for his achievements in unifying his Martial Arts and Mentalism Methods, but also by allowing himself to become consumed by his inner demons.
The ‘Ancient Demonic Codex’ was one of his strongest points, which was something that he had found in extremely ancient ruins.
It was not an ordinary Demonic Art either, since it also majored in Soul Arts, which made it extremely difficult to deal with.
One of the abilities that an individual would gain from practicing this discipline was the ability to devour one’s soul and their achievements from all other disciplines in the process.
This also included their talents and other unique abilities.
Given that Lucifer had also mastered these extremely evil arts, David could easily tell what kind of plan the other party was planning.
The earlier events were proof of that.
In the meantime, Lucifer did not show any kind of reaction, not willing to give any more information than necessary. However, he also knew that his silence was basically the same as admitting that those words were right.
Moreover, this information was most likely from Evangeline herself, which clearly indicated that it could not be wrong.
After all, she was among those who thoroughly destroyed that project base and ruthlessly pursued the head researchers of that project.
Even Frankenstein found her foreseeing abilities extremely troublesome.
After contemplating what they should do next, Lucifer decided to retreat for now. Even though it would be a waste to miss this opportunity, he knew that the opposing side had most likely prepared for such an ambush.
After all, David’s presence here was more than enough to prove the foresight of the opposing side.
They would most likely lose quite a lot of agents for this failure, but it was better than risking everything.
They had made a deal with another organization just for this operation, which would be creating another disturbance somewhere, so he did not have to worry about being caught by the higher-ups of the academy.
However, it would be a different case if they got entangled with David here. The commotion that they could create would most likely attract unnecessary attention, so it was better to call this mission off and find another opportunity later.
“Tsk! What a pity,” mumbled Lucifer before turning around and preparing to leave.
Seeing his actions, David immediately said. “Where do you think you are going? Do you really believe that I will let you go just like that?”
Hearing this, Lucifer paused for a moment and turned his head. Looking over his shoulder, he suddenly said. “If it is any other occasion, then I will surely welcome such a chance to see the strength of the famous Wanderer.”
“Unfortunately, this is not the right time nor the best opportunity to let my greed go over my head,” he then turned around and started walking away. “We will meet again, David Solomon.”
David wanted to chase after Lucifer, but he refrained from doing so. After all, he still had to look after Wade, who was currently in a terrible state.
“What a pity. It is such a good opportunity to catch one of them,” he mumbled as he watched Lucifer disappear alongside his people.
He then looked around before raising his head. “Tsk! To think that they have even deployed such an advanced isolation barrier. No wonder most of the higher-ups are unable to notice what is happening here.”
As for the others, who realized the current situation, David knew that some of them were spies as well, while the rest were being held back by something else.
“I guess I can only wait for now,” he mumbled before picking up Wade, who had already lost his consciousness due to the excruciating pain that was running throughout his body.
David sent a gentle flow of healing energy toward the latter’s body, easing up that pain. “His soul has been hurt. I guess I have to look for Elder Death Lotus for help.”
“However, this can also be considered as a blessing in disguise since it now lets his soul enter a reconstruction state, which will let his body and mind harmonize better later.”
