Chapter 2122 - 2122: An Old Friend? (Part 2)
…
Wade wore an extremely grave expression when he saw the hooded figure standing before him. “What are you doing here, Lucifer?”
Hearing this, the opposing party chuckled. “What’s with the serious look? Aren’t you happy to see an old friend?”
“Hmph! Old friend, your *ss! Since when have you truly considered me as one?” Wade scoffed along with a serious, bitter tone. “We both know that you are only using me for your goals.”
“Aren’t you coveting my father’s research paper as well?” he added before shaking his head. “You are no different from those organizations.”
Lucifer shook his head, finding the situation a pity. “Is that how you see me? What a pity, I truly considered you as one of my closest friends.”
“Don’t make me laugh! Your lies will no longer work on me,” scoffed Wade, knowing that the words that come from this person’s mouth could not be trusted.
“I guess you no longer want to pursue those goals of yours,” said Lucifer.
“Heh! I still look up to the Irregulars and want to become like them,” Wade responded before quickly adding. “We never have the same goal in the first place. Our ideals are aways been different.”
The other party shook his head. “That is not true. What I am pursuing is what the Irregulars want to achieve yet fail to do so.”
“I am doing what they fail to and achieve something even greater,” he added.
“You are wrong. Your ideals are never the same as theirs,” Wade shook his head, denying the words of the other party. “What you are trying to achieve is absolute dominion and greed for power.”
“Those people never want something like that. All they want is to play freely and enjoy the game,” he added while glaring at this so-called old friend.
“Such foolish thoughts,” Lucifer chuckled. “What is the use of absolute power if you are going to take advantage of it?”
“They possessed a level of power that no one dares to imagine, yet they have never used it. That is such a waste. It is no wonder that they have been almost forgotten by time,” he added with a somewhat ridiculing tone.
“If you have power, then why not use it? If you have absolute power, then why not conquer the world with it?”
“Old Friend, you should have already realized that this so-called game that you used to treat as your regular virtual game is not ordinary at all.”
“There are a lot of ancient legacies and powerful inheritances hidden in it! Do you think it is still possible to play such a game normally?”
Lucifer shook his head before looking at Wade with eyes filled with pity. “You used to be one of the chosen ones. You are supposed to carry one of the mantles of these lost legends.”
“Unfortunately, you chose to stray from the right path and get yourself blinded by that so-called ‘peace’ and ‘freedom’ that this world is showing you.”
“Little did you know that all of these are nothing but an illusion that what’s above wants to show you,” he chuckled, which somewhat felt evil.
Wade did not know what the other party was trying to say, but he could at least tell that there was something wrong with this person.
He felt somewhat different from what he remembered. He had already experienced some changes from this old friend before, which triggered the rift that broke their relationship at that time.
However, from what he could remember, the current ‘Lucifer’ before him had become much worse than the one from his memory.
The latter felt like a stranger this time, while the aura that they were emitting seemed to feel more devious and eerie.
His expression immediately became grim before asking with a heavy tone. “You are not ‘him’! Who are you!?”
Even though Wade could not see the expression of the opposing party due to the shade of the hood hiding the latter’s appearance, he could at least sense that the other party was currently grinning.
“‘We’ wanted to threaten you as one of ‘us’, but it seems like it is no longer possible,” mumbled Lucifer before slightly raising his head and somewhat showing the lower half of his face. “You have left us no choice but to become a ‘part’ of ‘us’.”
Wade was unable to comprehend what the other party was talking about, but he could at least tell that he was in quite a dangerous predicament.
He might have achieved a decent level when it came to martial arts, but it was still far from letting him reach the ideal level. It was way behind when compared to regular martial artists, much less monsters like Shin and the others.
He was also unable to gauge the difference between him and the opposing party, but he could at least tell that he was no match against this level of opponent.
‘Do I have no choice but to use my Demon’s Eyes?’ he thought, feeling a bit troubled.
Benedict repeatedly told him to refrain from using this artificial talent because it was still far from reaching the perfect state. His body was unable to handle its power as well, which could put him at extreme risk.
He might even lose his life in the process if he tried something foolish.
In the meantime, Lucifer seemed to be able to see through the thoughts running through Wade’s mind, especially when he saw that familiar flicker of colors from the latter’s pupil.
“Those eyes-… they are something meant for ‘us’. It will only be a waste to let someone like you,” said Lucifer as the aura that he was emitting became even more dangerous.
“It is a pity that you refuse to return to the right path,” said Lucifer with a sigh before continuing. “Since that is the case, you have left ‘us’ with no other choice but to take those eyes from you.”
Boom!
Right after those words left his mouth, an incredibly heavy pressure suddenly descended and filled the entire place.
“Urgh!”
Bang!
Wade was instantly brought to his knees by this heavy pressure. From his perspective, the entire surroundings seemed to be shaking hard, even making his vision blur.
“Argh! Argh!”
He tried to struggle, but all he got was continuous pressure on his back, which was pushing into the ground.
His body immediately fell, making him use his arms to press hard on the ground, trying to support himself.
“Since you are unworthy of those eyes, let ‘us’ take it instead,” said Lucifer as he walked forward.
Swoosh! Swoosh! Swoosh!
Dark aura suddenly surrounded his body, creating gusts of wind around him, before gathering toward his right arm.
He then slowly raised that hand and was about to extend it forward, seemingly doing a grabbing motion.
Whoosh!
At the same time, a huge demonic hand seemed to have appeared out of nowhere, mimicking his actions.
This demonic hand seemed to be able to freely transform between a physical and incorporeal state.
“Urgh!”
At the same time, Wade felt like his soul was about to leave his body when this demonic hand appeared. It was as if death itself came personally and was about to harvest his soul.
“Those eyes, ‘we’ will put it in good use,” said Lucifer before reaching forward, which urged the demonic hand to move toward Wade.
“Argh!”
Wade could clearly sense it. He could vividly feel that something was leaving his body. It was as if something from his soul was slowly being ripped apart.
The pain was so excruciating that it felt like he was about to die.
Lucifer did not show any kind of reaction, just calmly watching his so-called ‘old friend’ suffer.
He was close to succeeding when something unexpected happened.
“I think that should be enough for ‘catching up’ as old friends.”
A voice suddenly sounded right at Lucifer’s side, catching him off guard. “Who!?”
At the same time, he also felt someone grabbing his right arm, which was currently extended forward.
Swoosh!
Alongside this, the demonic hand that he just summoned disappeared in an instant, seemingly being crushed by an invisible force.
Turning his head, Lucifer saw a youth with tanned skin standing there. This young man was wearing a bored look on his face, but he could clearly tell that the other party was no ordinary youth.
Boom!
He released an extremely powerful demonic energy in an attempt to push the other party away from him.
Boom!
However, the other party just released a dense mental energy of divinity grade to offset the demonic energy that was trying to show him off.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
There was a repeated clash between the two powers, sending straws in every direction and destroying the surroundings.
After a while, the youth suddenly spoke. “I was right. It is the Ancient Demonic Codex.”
“You-… Are you the disciple of Great Demon Jan Meteo?” he asked before quickly adding. “Or should I say-… one of the scattered ‘fragments’ of that rumored ‘Limitless Savant?'”
